  1. Yocasta....as a former member of Tim's site, I have had my disagreements with him in the past, but I don't doubt for one minute that Mr. Bent is reading and answering questions from the board members.

Mr. Bent has listened to many of the grievances from the posters at DTTUSA and only good things can come of the relationship between the site and the US Consulate in Santo Domingo.

I understand your frustration with the process, we have ALL been in that same position, but this is not the way to air your grievance.

  2. We just got this email today:

    Current Status:

This case has been approved. On August 8, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.

Is this different than the welcome notice that we received last week?

That one means that the GC was printed and is one the way....at least for me it was!

    Congrats

  3. Hi everyone. I'm a little confused so I apologize if this is a dumb question. My fiance and I were married two weeks ago. We just applied for Social Security (that's a whole nother story) and from browsing through the vj.com site I'm confused as to whether my new wife needs to file for both an AOS AND EAD or does she already have "EAD Status" since she's a K1 visa holder?

Also, her 90 days are set to expire in 1 month...do I have enough time for everything?

Thanks for any and all help,

    John

You do not have to apply for both, however if she wants to work, she would need the EAD until the AOS gets processed, as she DOES NOT have EAD status.

  4. The way I understand it:

    E-mail # 1 = Welcome Letter was mailed

    E-mail # 2 = Greencard was ordered

    E-mail # 3 = Greencard was mailed

I don't think there is a separate "approval notice" although I could be wrong. At any rate we didn't get one. I've always understood it as "approval notice" = greencard.

Congrats - you should be getting the card any day now! :)

That's what I thought also, but I hadn't seen anyone post something similar.

  5. 1) The Welcome Notice comes after approval welcoming you to the U.S. as a Permanent Resident.

    2) This is just telling you that your card has been ordered, and you should be receiving it shortly.

    3) The approval notice is usually the first notice, but the good part is you got it.

Oh believe me, I'm not complaining, I'm just as happy as can be. Just, why isn't the first welcome notice tied to the last approval. can you get the first welcome notice and then be denied? Its like the Abbott and Costello, Who's on First? Not only is the entire process sometimes confusing, so is the approval process. They just want to keep you on your toes, the entire time. ;)

  6. Perhaps this has been asked before but, what's the difference between these emails?

    1) On July 20, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case.

    2) On July 28, 2006, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

    3) This case has been approved. On August 1, 2006, an approval notice was mailed.

I'm just curious, what's the difference between the welcome notice approval on July20 and the other two? Is the August 1 approval, basically stating that the GC was done and mailed?

  7. Nothing unusual here. The Welcome letter is your I-797C approval notice. The other email just lets you know that your green card has been ordered. You may get another email informing you that your card has been mailed.

    Congratulations on your approval :)

Oh, I see. The NOA letter will be received, then you mayt get the "a card has been issued" email. Looking at your timeline it took about 1 month from the email, to get the GC.

    Thanks
