  1. Hi! I ´ve been here for six months now and I clearly understand your worries!! In my case the most difficult part has definitely been the job part. I used to be a language teacher in my country and fortunately I got a part time -volunteer based job in a school here, I am very happy and enthusiastic for been there but I can feel 100 % that people don´t take me too seriously, and it´s been very hard to deal with it because I used to be a little respected and taken into account in my preious jobs there in my country.

Also sometimes I have language issues (_I felt I spoke good english but there are moments in which I just can´t go further in some conversations and it´s making me feel really frusrated :bonk: )... Freedom to get to places you want and need to go is also hard, and relationships are different and hard to build too, I am sure every case is different but your question gave me a little space to vent  I would say to you: The important is to be opened to the change, learn to enjoy, learn and don´t let yourself to feel down because it´s "normal".

Hmm, Shakespeare, posting in ALL caps and claiming it's someone else.

Methinks you might be speaking in the 1st person here.

I would take a breather for a time before filing another K-1. :clock:

For sure you'd have to get a waiver and have a lot of explaining to do. :huh2:

Colombian women are very beautiful & like spicy food, hot to handle. :diablo:

Are you ready for a second course? :pop:

We don't like spicy food !

  3. Hello!!!

Hope everything is smooth and good in your cases...

Does any Colombian´s fiance(e) know about the "antecedentes disciplinarios" document that they give you at "Procuraduría General"?

Is it necessary to go and put it an "apostille" at "Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores". I got it last week and someone got me confussed about it, I think it´s not necessary since the document is going to be presented here in Colombia... anyways I am not 100% sure and I wold love to find it out.

Thanks for your time reading this!

    Good Luck

  4. Hello everybody!!!

Again we hope you´re doing great with your Visas´ processes!!! I have the interview next week and I have a question about one police certificate "Antecedentes Disciplinarios" I just got it last week but now I am a bit confussed ; Do I have to go the "Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores" and ask them to issue an APOSTILLE "apostillar" or is it enough if I present the original document issued at " Procuraduría General de la Nación" I know it´s a very specific question....but I think many of you may know about it, thank you in advance for your help.

  5. Hello There!!!!

We happily knew that we got approved because the Bogotá embassy sent us pkt # 3 ...So I already sent it back and now just have to wait for them to send us the pkt #4 or let us know when is the interview going to be.... Does anybody know if I could present the medical exam before they send us the pkt # 4 or upload the interviews dates?

    Just wondering....

Thanks for your replies and good luck with all your cases....

  6. Okay, let me clarify things a bit. I am a USC living in USA. I made 22 thousand last year. I had to make $26,500 for 4. I sponsored my wife only. The I-864 stated that. I only had to make 17.5 for two of us. It was my wife's interview only. My children will get interviews later and at that time, I would have needed a co- sponsor. Or my job will start back for the summer,( In April) and I will make more money then Social Security allows. I will have to pay back Social Security $1 for every two I make over $14,000 in earnings. I will make over 16,000 in 7 months.

So now maybe you can see my frustration. My wife was not denied. She was just told I needed a co-sponsor for her, to even be approved. Once I do that, she can return. When they have time to see her again.

I am sorry it is taking a little bit more ... But everything will be fine . We whish you the best!!!

  7. income I can deal with...I can have my mom help to co sponsor, but marriage soon after first face to face? You think that will really pose an issue? You think I have to wait longer to start the process, or you think I need to go visit again?? She is from Colombia, thats a big issue...is not exactly the safest for us gringos haha. Any suggestions on that?

I understand you´ve heard scary news about Colombia but if she is inviting you to come and visit her is because she really knows it will be safe for you. Come and visit her, meet her parents "maybe it is important to her", and by the way give yourself the chance to get to know the beautiful things her country has...and you will definitely change your mind about Colombia as many foreing people have already done.... If it makes you feel better, my fiance can write you an e-mail about how was his experience getting to know Bogota... Be positive and I hope you make up your mind soon...

  11. Thought this info might help some people even though I technically applied in July (arrived at the csc on July 29th). My check was cashed two days after it arrived, and I received my first N.O.A. today. I am very grateful. Good luck to the rest of you all.

Did send to California? It appears that Cali is moving faster than Vermont right now.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I did send it to the California service center.

  12. Hello,

This is my first post and I have an important question. First off My fiance and I are just starting the K-1 process and we've encountered a problem already. She was in the U.S. last year on a student visa (J something or other) and her visa was to expire in the middle of August. She had a possible job lined up that fell into the guidelines of her visa, but she was negotiating with the employer and time was running out. She decided to apply for an extension before the visa expired, but she was going over her alloted time while waiting for an answer. The USCIS got back to her about two months later and told her that they would not give her an extension, and at the time of the letter she did not have lawful immigration status and her presence in the United States was a violation of the law. They said that she would have to depart within 30 days of that letter, and that remaining beyond that time would affect her ability to return to the U.S.. She did leave within that 30 days, but I'm worried if that would make things difficult to get her k-1 visa now.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. She means everything to me, and this is a very important part of my life. I just wouldn't want anything to come up and make things harder for us.

    Thank You.
