Ok. I heard from the attorney on 2/16, and I think she contacted me on the same day she received approval, so I guess that's my likely approval date.
-
I finally got an official email saying that the card had been ordered as of 2/21/12. I had heard from the attorney last week though, so presumably she got the actual approval date letter (for some reason I have not). Is the date above the "approval date" or not?
-
Congrats !!! What is the decision date ?
Thanks. Actually, I don't know the exact date yet, as my attorney emailed me (today) that she'd received it. It's probably at home waiting in the mailbox.
I will update soonest.

we received our approval today. I think they're finally starting to clear the backlog!
-
Still waiting. The USCIS website says they are still in "initial review" and shows it hasn't even been touched since the initial NOA was sent out at end of May. What's up with that?
-
Re-opening a very old thread. So, do you simply accept American citizenship (which requires one to renounce oaths to other governments) but simply retain/maintain a Thai passport as well?

We have applied for AOS including the EAD and have the biometrics in a few weeks. According to the timelines, it looks like the Green Card could take the better part of a year. In the meantime, can we expect some sort of a temporary EAD? My wife can not even get an SSN without one, let alone work.

I know I dropped off this board some months ago after my Noi arrived in the U.S. Things are still going blissfully for us and all is well. We were married 2/2/09 (Groundhog Day, so we can keep reliving it, LOL).
Congrats to everyone who has completed the first part of the journey.

They've known "for some time" they were going to end the relationship. Could that "some time" have been about the time mom became a v.p. candidate?

Hello everyone its been a while since I posted hope everyone is doing well. With Radz here and going back to work I dont seem to get on line too much. I hope everyone is having a great new year.
Congrats! Noi is doing well, despite the snow. Hope to get her work permit soon so she doesn't get too bored!

Noi has arrived safely and is braving the cold (doing better than me). Immigration at JFK was a nightmare, but it's over. Staff was rude and unprofessional. Unfortunately they didn't give her I-94 back nor did they give her a 90-day EAD. The latter is an annoyance, the former is a big problem.
Any thoughts on how to proceed would be welcome.

HELP!
Customs at JFK did not give Noi a copy of her completed I-94, so now she has no documentation to get SSN number. Who do I contact to solve this?!
-
Noi is here -- safe and happy. We spent a couple of days in NYC before arriving back in Maryland. However, she had a horrible experience in immigration with rude staff at JFK. Absolutely refused to issue a temporary EAD (woman said she was too busy. Noi said she spent two hours eating and joking with a fellow immigration official). Also, I believe there was a document (?) that Noi should have been issued and wasn't.
As a USC, is there a USCIS number I can call to complain?

thanks for the info. I thought I remember some people saying they got their interview in like 3-4 weeks after the embassy received the P-3? something that was really fast.
I'll nvc on friday. that'll be 1 week since they approved it so maybe they'll have something for me..
anybody out there, know about sending the p-3 in before the p-3 is sent out to the beneficiary?
I've already got the police report taken care of.
its just the interview and medical.
My Noi got her interview in 10 days! Which kinda sucked, actually, because it made it impossible for me to be there. But all's well that ends well.

this is enlightening. Huckabee takes the piss out of Ann for her sloppy "journalism" on him and she doesn't even care:

Noi is getting everything together to fly out of Bangkok tomorrow. The biggest problem seems to be winnowing down her luggage so she's not over the 20-kilo limit. I told her not to worry, that she could buy new clothes here. That made her feel better.
-
She's a pathetic excuse for a human being if ever I saw one.

If you're referring to Freddie and Fannie, no they don't have much to do with it. But to admit it was really the collateralized debt obligations and credit default swaps flogged by Wall Street just hits too close to home for the GOP. The Bernie Madoffs of the world vote Republican.

the rush is on to fake left and hand Bush's economic debacle to Obama. If the wing-nut bloggers think we're going to buy that ridiculous logic, they have another thing coming. This DEPRESSION is squarely on the shoulders of GWB. Enough said.

Note to Kit:
If you want to avoid the appearance of being a racist, don't start your story with a non-sequiter reference to affirmative action.

(CNN) -- An audio message reportedly from al Qaeda's deputy chief vows revenge for Israel's air and ground assault on Gaza and calls the Jewish state's actions against Hamas militants "a gift" from U.S. President-elect Barack Obama.
...
The speaker, identified as Ayman al-Zawahiri, addresses Muslims in Gaza. He said the violence "is one part of a series of a crusade war against Islam and these air strikes are a gift from Obama before he takes office, and (Egyptian President) Hosni Mubarak, that traitor, is the main partner in your siege and killing."
...
The 10-minute message also address Muslims worldwide, claiming that Obama was portrayed as "the savior who will come and change American policy" during the U.S. election but is now "killing your brothers and sisters in Gaza without mercy or even pity."

This just proves the GOP-al-Qaida nexus once and for all. Remember how Osama helped throw the 2004 election to Bush?

Hey! At the medical examination, they will ask you do you carry any STD's. so you have to answer to that question honestly. Does anyone know from experience that having an herpes won't cause your denial?
would it be called germs of endearment?
Charles apparently studied about STDs the same place he studied humor and politics. That's why most of his posts about the election were a ###### joke.
But, I digress.
It's a virus, stupid.

Rice
in Philippines
Greetings everyone and Happy New Year!!I am looking for a good quality US replacement for rice. My sweety sure likes her rice and I want to find something here in the US that is just as good at what can be found in the Phil's.
Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks!!
GWN
Thai Jasmine rice is hands down the best in the world! It's about $5 per kilo in most Asian food stores and a bit more in many grocery stores. Don't get "glutinous" rice unless you want thai-syle sticky rice or Basmati, which is specific to Indian dishes.

she's keeping them, but will send if I ask. I have sort of a unique situation in which an immigration attorney is a friend of the family. So, I started out DIYing everything but when she offered to take things over, I couldn't say no. I think I could have done it all myself, but it is nice having another set of eyes on things.
