  1. hi there our VJ family! well, well, well, i guess we had a successful AOS interview! Wooohhhhoooo!!!

Everything was so fast on that day. We started falling in line outside the building around 830am. Got inside the uscis premises around 9am. left our appointment letter at the window. we were called in less than 10minutes. then, we waited outside the IO's office for like 10-15 minutes coz he was scrutinizing the couple inside his room. we were nervous at that point coz we thought he was so strict. so we prepared ourselves very well.

then, he let us in but he was nice to us. he asked first for the usual docs such as the i-94, passport, carl's DL and the appointment letter. i gave him my EAD card but he said he doesn't need it. then, he asked carl for our address. then, he asked for hubby's job. carl is a chef so they talked a lot about cooking and food. it gave us a some comfort and relief though. then, he asked how long have we been married, my job, if it was my first time in the US and if I was ever been arrested. he asked for all the docs that we could present to prove that our marriage is true so we gave him our life and health insurance docs, bank statements, church marriage certificate and tons of photos. he refused to get the church marriage certificate and photos. i wonder why he didn't even look at our photos. he was more interested on talking to hubby about food. hehe. then, he asked hubby how we met. and that's all. he said we should be waiting for a letter on the mail from Chicago. we only spent 10 minutes i think for the interview. he left the building around 930am. but actually, our appointment was 1030am. we were so early to avoid the traffic at the 10 freeway.

he never said anything if we were approved. so we were still hanging on that part. but on our way out from his room, he told me the magic words "Welcome to America". I believe that was enough to convince ourselves that we were approved. we'll just wait for the mail from Chicago. I wonder what is it. I hope it will be the Welcome Letter.

I want to thank everybody here in VJ and especially the people here on this May filer thread for all the support, guidance and prayers. This is such a wonderful place/website and we are so blessed to be part of this family. I will post here the content of that letter from Chicago as soon as I get it.

***TIPS: 1. be early; 2. prepare all your docs and photos; 3. dress professionally on your interview; 4. pray hard!

God bless everybody and for those who are still waiting, just hang on coz God is working of His perfect plan on us.

Hi Beng and Carl, congtratulations!

  4. Hello folks,

I'm very excited - I received a "Request for Applicant to Appear for Initial Interview" today. That's good, right?

It says it's regarding my I-485 - am I right in thinking that this is the interview where they accept you for a Green Card? Do they ever interview you more than once? If not, this is *amazingly* quick - I wasn't even expecting my AP until Christmas!

Anyway, I'm not in your September list - our timeline is:

Jan 2005 - Entered US on L1-B visa

    May 2005 - Met Jenni

Mar 08 2008 - Married in Seattle (Lake Union Cafe - highly recommended!)

    Sep 11 2008 - I-485 / I-130 / AP / EAD package received by USCIS

    Sep 15 2008 - NOA1 - I-485 / I-130 / AP

Sep 25 2008 - EAD refiled (first one I used an old form... )

Oct 10 2008 - Biometrics Appointment in Seattle - (btw: had a later appt date for my EAD as it was filed later but they combined it with this one, and was very quick.)

    Dec 10 2008 - Interview!

Finally, my interview letter is dated Nov 5, but my case online hasn't been touched since Oct 13...

    Cheers!

    Nick

The GC will come in the mail in 3 to 4 weeks time.

  5. I am getting married next month and had hoped my husband wouldn't be too far behind me coming back to the US. After reading through some posts I am now so discouraged and sad. I didn't realize it is going to take so long. I won't even be able to visit him as it's so expensive.

Hang in there. I've been in the same situation last yr. We started processing the papers in August last year and by March 2008 we got approved. Our case was complete in about 7 months only and now we're together. Just be patient...

  6. Hi Shape,

Good to hear from you again. Kindly share your AOS preparation experience, what are necessary docs you submitted and the way you organized things. I'll be doing my AOS this September. Thank you in advance and God Bless you always. :)

  7. I Offer My Life

All that I am, all that I have

I lay them down before you, O Lord

All my regrets, all my acclaim

The joy and the pain I'm making them Yours.

    Refrain:

Lord I offer my life to You

    Everything I've been through

    Use it for Your glory

Lord, I offer my days to You

    Lifting my praise to You

    As a pleasing sacrifice

Lord, I offer You my life.

Things in the past, things yet unseen,

Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true.

All of my hopes, all of my plans,

My heart and my hands are lifted to You (Refrain)

    Bridge:

What can we give that You have not given,

And what do we have that is not already Yours.

All we possess are these lives we're living.

And that's what we give to You, Lord (Refrain)

  10. A Boost Of Courage

    *Our Daily Bread 2008*

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our Faith. ~ Hebew12:2

How often we too face situations that seem overwhelming and impossible. It's in those times that we need to find our confidence in Jesus. Our first insinct may be to back way in fear. But that's exactly when we need to look to Jesus, the "author and finisher of our faith"(Heb 12:2), who will raise His nail-scarred hand and say, " Stay with it. Run the race. I've run it before you, and in My power you can win. You can do it".

Hold fast to Christ and He will give

The will to see you through

And if you keep on keeping on

Your strength He will renew . - D. De Haan
