  1. Hi! Hoping somebody can help me...

I have just received my interview date for september 18th at the London consulate.

Here is my situation: I have already been to the US on 3 J1 visa's. The third of which was an 18 month J1. On my DS2019 the consular officer checked in between the two boxes for the section "Not subject" or "Subject" to the two year foreign residence requirement. I sent a clear copy of my DS2019 to the Department of Homeland Security and asked for an advisory opinion which was returned and was determined "NOT SUBJECT".

When I submit my documents i.e my police check, birth certificate, letter of intent, should i also submit the Advisory Opinion letter?

Has anyone been in this situation or know of the best course of action.

    Thanks in advance. Dave

  2. Yeah I pretty much agree with Laura.

There is a space on Packet 3 that asks something about preferred interview date AND date of wedding & travel, did you fill that in? usually people use that to get a speedier interview, we didn't since we didnt have any concrete wedding plans (venue ect) we are happy to take whatever they have free.

I think if it was further away they might be more sympathetic, but with less than a month you probably have alot of people before you.

    Best of luck anyway mate!

Thanks guys, thats what i figured...my process has been fairly speedy in comparison to some people, so im just glad it moving along well. Thanks again. Good luck to all

  3. Im sure this has been covered before...but, after the embassy has scheduled an appointment for you, is it possible to phone them up and ask for an earlier date. I am applying at london and have found out my interview is September 18th, but was hoping for it to be earlier. Anybody tried this before and been successful??? Thanks in advance. Dave

  4. Welcome to VJ Dave. Good to have you with us. Dont worry about putting the wrong consulate. They'll know where it's going. ;)

Gaye, it's bittersweet watching them grow, isnt it? I can't believe i'll (hopefully) be starting over again with a new baby!

Yes, bittersweet indeed. Part of me wants to see them all grown up and be successful in their chosen path but another part of me wants them to stay as kids forever.

Ricky and I don't have plans of having another baby... well as of now,.. but we might decide otherwise someday.

Hey Guys! I have a quick question which we have just noticed. Hoping someone can give us advice. On our NOA1 the address simply says the street address without the house number. Any similar cases?? Ideas?? I hope this isn't going to set us back any, not sure i could handle it...help/advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks

  5. Welcome aboard HiTech. I noticed your timeline sees you as a Feb. filer because of the date you sent in your original petition. It has you projected as being done back in May. :star:

Not a big deal, but it probably skews the database a little. Lord knows, we have some numbers people on here. :star:

I am still trying to figure out what month filer I am. :)

Hi everyone! I believe I am also an April filer! Hope you guys can help control my impatience...i have been checking out load of stuff from this website and found it to be so informative. Keeping my fingers crossed for speedy approvals for all of us, I know how you all feel. I have a question though, hoping some kind person can give me advice on. I filed my petition and stated Belfast as my consulate unaware that they do not take care of these visas. Should I inform USCIS now or wait and see if they are smart enough to adjust my consulate to London? help would be much appreciated...thanks all. Lets the approvals begin.
