We did the translation ourselves and accepted by USCIS....anyone can translate for you, including yourself. Please see below:
Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate.
The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

Hi everybody,
Following with an update, I sent the application as follows:
* Part 2 #16 (A, B, C, D) Information about admission into the US and current immigration status
A & B: information for her first time entry to US and her foreign passport used for it
C: Other: US citizen through the mother naturalization
D: her information when we received her first Resident card.
* Part 5: Left it blank
When I sent the application my daughter was 13 yo, but the approval was after she was 14 yo....so we received the letter indicating that all persons age 14 or older are required to take an Oath of Allegiance to the US and provided the location and date for it. It was very similar as my ceremony just in this case was a group of teens. After taking the oath, they called one by one to receive the certificate and review the information previous to sign in front of an officer. Once it is done, outside there was a desk with SS staff giving the SS form to update their status.
This is the end of our journey, thank you all for your support...and good luck for the new ones.

How did you do with the copy of green card? Since you had to send in the green card to get the passport.

The US passport office didn't return the green card but they sent a letter/receipt indicating that the green card is no longer valid and they will return it to USCIS.
I have not sent the N600 application yet....I'm planing to attached a copy of the green card, the receipt and her US passport for their reference and also a letter required if the applicant already got a passport.

Hello everybody,
Hope you can help me to get more understanding to some questions of the form N-600.
I already got my CoN and US passport and for my 13 yo daughter her US passport (derived citizenship). I will apply to get her certificate of citizenship (to have piece of mind) and going through the form there are some questions that are not clear for me:
* Part 2 #16 (A, B, C, D) Information about admission into the US and current immigration status
for A and B: Should I enter her latest arrival to US or the first time? we traveled recently and she entered USA with her new US passport Should I enter her US passport information under the passport field?
If my daughter already has US passport, do I have to include all her information as US citizen and her US passport?
for C: I guess I should select Other and explain when I became a US citizen she would automatically become a US citizen as well, right??
for D: Include her resident information even though now she become a US citizen automatically through my naturalization, right ??
* Part 5: It seems that this part is only required for the applicant who claims to be born US citizen (born abroad to a US citizen parent) Do I have to leave this part in blank?

almost done...interview was today and approved, lasted like 15 min
including the test....the officer just corrected the application applying as Permanent Resident for at least 5 years instead of been married to an US citizen for the last 3 years (we've been married 6 years).Also, the officer told me this Saturday there will be an Oath Ceremony and if I want to be included I'll have to wait until they finished to update my file and get the letter....so, 40 minutes later I got my letter..yay !!!

Citizenship is automatic. You do not need his permission to apply for a Certificate of Citizenship (if you want to apply for it). You need his permission to apply for a US passport.
Thank you newacct for your reply. I guess, for her US passport, I'll need his authorization (notarized in Ecuador) and present it with a translation.

Hello everyone,
I'm in the process for the Citizenship...hopefully is done soon. My husband petitioned for me and my daughter and we both are green card holders. At the moment my daughter is 13yo and hopefully this year I'll get my Citizenship so I'll start right away my daughter N-600. Her father does not live in US, he spends time with her on summer vacations when she goes to Ecuador. Do you know if I need his permission to get my daughter an US passport and/or her Citizenship? We never have been married and there is no legal custody paperwork it was just an agreement between us.
Any information will be helpful.

Thanks Ontarkie, looks like that's what I am going to have to do. I thought it was no issue since she is a permanent resident, that the name on her passport differs from the green card. : ( Have to call the airline to change the name on the ticket and I think the fee is $200 ! That really sucks. So let this be a warning for others. Thanks again.

Hello all, long time have not posted anything or signed in. Wife received residency about 1 year ago. We will be travelling to visit her parents in Ecuador in Dec. Here's the scenario- I purchased airline ticket using Wife's married name , same name which is on green card. Her passport has her maiden name. We were wondering if this would cause any issues, A- with boarding the plane, B- Entering in Ecuador. Ecuadorian government will not change name on passport since
we are married here in U.S. The most they will do is place a stamp and writing that they recognize that she is now married and her married name is ............ I called American Airlines and they do not know #######, they were stating name has to be same on ticket, passport and green card, I told them that was not possible, they suggested we contact the Ecuadorean consulate and ask. I am sure we are not the only ones that have encountered this issue. I would like to hear from anyone that has traveled out of the US after receiving the green card with their country of citizenship passport and what they did or what issues they encountered. We plan to go to the airport with the green card, marriage license, US driver license, and Ecuadorian passport.

Thanks for the quick responses. I guess I was just venting. Hate having to deal with any government entity incompetence really irritates me. Wife will pass by local police station for background check / Police clearance. Went online and requested IRS transcript. Printed various copies of car Insurance, medical insurance, additional bank statements (now showing deposits from Wife employment as well). Requesting school records, will provide another copy of lease showing WIFEs name on it.
Yes it's not difficult , just extremely annoying.

Hmmm Interesting post. We just recently got a cat (Dec) 1st for everyone in the household . I had a dog in a prior life, did not want another pet, but OK'd cat for stepdaughter. I do most of the work ( I expected this so I knew ahead of time). I clean the litterbox, clip the nails, brush / play with the cat. Stepdaughter feeds the cat in the eve's , wife or myself feed it in the morn. Cat has not barfed as of yet ( inside cat) but I am sure I would be the barf picker-upper. That's just the way it is.

Have not posted in quite a while, everything has been going smoothly, till now.
So PO'd right now can't see straight. Received a response from the USCIS that they are requesting additional evidence.
I think it has to do that my wife's fingerprints were rejected as 'unclassifiable' by the FBI. So basically they are requesting more proof of our marriage being 'of good faith' and showing that we are still living together.
On original presentation we sent them 2 sworn affidavits by friends of ours attesting to our relationship and marriage, Copy of checking account

Copy of our apt lease ( signed by both). Copy of auto insurance (which shows BOTH names) and Copy of Medical Insurance from my job which Shows my WIFES name ( showing MY LAST NAME) and my stepdaughter. Plus photos with our friends in different get togethers. Now they're asking for some of the same information WE ALREADY provided as well as some new documentation.
They want a police clearance or criminal background check from my wife, proof that the Income tax return was filed, document from the school from our stepdaughter showing me as a 2nd contact or guardian and another f**cking affidavit by 3rd parties that have known us since we have been married .
Aaaaaaauggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Sorry really, really PO'd. On my 3rd drink and just getting more upset. -sigh- Thanks for reading.

Well, I understand that $2000 or $5000 would have been a fortune in VN back in the 1990s when she told me her BF was paying that. I think even now her job only pays about $350-500 in USD equivalent per month. To answer your question, here are some red flags, staying at or above the "R" rating:
1. A nice big house; she says she built it about 2003,
2. Lots of apparent money, a nice lifestyle (ex: she had a maid until 2008 or 2009 ),
3. On my late 2009 visit, there were wads of cash under her bed when I got there, which disappeared a couple of days later,
4. There were men's shirts in her closet; which she said had belonged to her old BF, but according to her he was out of the picture back in the 1990s and her house was built in 2003.
5. There was very very sexy lingerie in her closet; it was far and above anything my ex-wife ever wore for me! (but I probably had very dull marriage, haha),
6. Without going into detail, there were physical intimacies and webcam behavior which I believe were not spontaneous,
(she seems to have very good knowledge of a man's body),
7. Searching her email addresses discloses some Skype user names she has not and will not tell me about.
8. In her Skype account, she had between 100-200 blocked accounts, all men, from around the world,
9. Right before my late 2009 visit, she had sent an email to a man telling him she missed him and attached a picture of her that I had taken in front of a church; he replied telling her he loved her; when she was here in 2010 I called him at telephone number in his email and he called back in 30 minutes!
10. She wears a very big diamond platinum ring; she tells me she bought it for herself.
11. She used to go out in the late afternoons, all dressed up looking sexy, but this seemed to stop a couple of years ago.
12. Before I visited in late 2009, she sold a big motorcycle that was much too big for her

Hi Jake, Everyone's life is their own and they make their own decisions. I do not know more information then what you have posted so I can only base my comments on what I have read. I am a skeptic and very cautious. I would like to meet the person ' in person' before I would jump to make any hasty decisions. Just a couple of questions.
Why would the visa time be untolerable just for her ? IS she giving you a time limit on how long she would wait ?
See under the requirements for K3 and K1, but for one I beleive that for you to get married overthere you'd have to stay a bit of time, I beleive more than just a couple of weeks.
I researched both and I thought that the K1 would be the one that would take the least amount of time and the one that would be the easiest later since the rest of the interviews would be here.
Sorry but I can not help with European customs don't know enough.

Hello:I am about to make my first trip to Ukraine to see the woman with which I have been communicating. I am 61 and she is 54. We are pretty serious. Depending on when I go over to see here we may also go to her nieces for Xmas. I will be staying with her, in her apartment for 25 days.

I have heard there is no formal engagement with an engagement ring over there like there is here in the states. Is this true?
If it is true there is no engagement period over there, is there another way to formally commit over there before marriage?
My aim is to make the visa wait time more tolerable for her. That she has some assurance and peace of mind.

While I was writing this my passport arrived and now she wants me to come over to see here November 6 instead of the Xmas holiday when she would have 10 days off. She is very anxious for us to be together. I have convinced her that we should sleep on it because we do not have to decide today. I think it would be better over the holidays, but I also do not want her to cool off. I have asked her how she will tolerate the 6 months of wait during the visa. She has not answered.
We are giving Skype a try tomorrow evening.

Not sure, but when we did the process for AOS on 2009 my daughter was 7 at that time and I also received the bio letter for her....if I'm not wrong it was just the picture for her green card.
