  1. Hello everyone, I am pretty new here. I just got my appointment for Biometrics on Jan 6th! My packet was sent in on Dec 15. I have another question that I am VERY worried about and dont know who to ask this. It porbably needs to be posted in another area, but I dont know where. Its a bit complicated and its about taxes. Where should that be posted? Please include my timeline on the thread, thanks a lot!!! Mayita

  2. I am know I am not a regular on here, but PLEAESE help. I am ready except I have 2 question...First, with the BC, its in Spanish. Do I have to get it translated?? Second, I did not make above the povery guidelines until this year (actually starting July of 2007). Can I also just submitt all pay stubs from this year so that we wont need a sponser? Last 3 years I have not made above, but now I do. Thats the important thing, right? Thanks a ton!!!!

  3. Even if you received an EAD (work authorization) stamp at the port of entry, you STILL need to file the

I-765 for the actual EAD card, as the stamp is only good for the first 90 days!! BE SURE TO USE CODE ©(9)

FOR A 1-YEAR EAD CARD (when filing concurrently with I-485)!!!

This is in the guide fro K1 AOS...where does it ask for code ©(9)????

Another question ...we are about to go get the shots at the civil surgeon around here. I saw on IMM2US a recommended CS in Texas will fill out the form by just faxing it to them and paying a small fee. Maybe I just dont understand, but how is that possible?

Please help me, I feel lost with this AOS. Now that we have the visa, I was wishfully thinking the hard part was over!! LOL

  4. Waiver was approved, fiance back home (YEAH!!!) now we need to attack the AOS stuff. I have been so focused on my fiance packet, I dont know much about AOS. I am usually on another forum, but there are a lot more K1 folks here. I have went through the various stickys and have read what I could. Is there something on here that has the steps to AOS? I have read somewhere (I thought it was here) that had step by step ( I need a lot of guidence). Something like 1. In two weeks go for SS card, 2. Get drivers lisense...soemthing to that effect. Does anyone know what I am talking about?? It was color coded like red, blue green...Any help would would GREATLY appriciated. Thanks!!!

First of all, congratulations! The wavier process is finally over. Hopefully adjusting status will be much simpler and less stressful. My wife and I spent 30 months in the K-1 visa/waiver process and are currently in the AOS process. I really think you will find that adjusting status to be much easier than what you have already been through. Best of luck to you. In what country was your wavier filed?

    It was Mexico

  6. SO, He can work immediately even without a ss#? As long as he gets this work permitt thru JFK? SO if he were just crossing by land, he gets that same stamp at the bridge, right?

Hola all..If my fiance gets his fiance visa thru Mexico, he plans on going and spending a few weeks in Mexico before returning to the US. He plans on flying. Does he HAVE to go through JFK? How does that work? Thanks!!

Nope, his POE can be wherever he likes. But apparently, those who go through JFK get some sort of temporary work permit (which is unique to that airport by all accounts) which enables them to work immediately.

This is exactly why I will NOT be using JFK as my POE - so 'er indoors can support my lazy ####### for a few months!

That's hilarious!! No stamp... Can't work.

Precisely - I wouldn't want to piss the authorities off now, would I!!??

Cast iron argument that she can't say squat about!

  7. Good thread, Blake.

I think the most frustrating in that process is the speed difference between VSC and CSC. oh and the fact that they don't work on the petitions in the order they arrived.

Igor did a good job in separating CSC approvals and VSC approvals on his list. That way we see their approvals only if we decide to check.

That list is great, but sometimes (when I check it 10 times a day), I wonder if it wouldn't be better not to have anything like this. This way we would focus on other things. That way, time would seem to go faster. At the same time, what is the worst: not being able to know how fast/slow it goes or being able to see that they are not moving really fast? Finally I'm glad that list exists.

Even though, as I said before, the process is quite frustrating, since we still have several months to wait, it is very endurable. It makes me happy to see approvals from CSC, even though they are people who filed 2 or 3 months before us.

Last night I did the math. there has been 165 approvals since we filed (almost 2 months ago) and we are 170 on Igor's list. January approvals might start in 2 months. Of course, that is only an hypothesis and we are probably going to wait longer than that. I know I'll start being very upset about this whole process around May.

I know about doing the math stuff  When I first entered in my timeline info and I saw Igor's listing I was number 260 on the waiting for approval listing. It's been interesting watching the number go up and down as new people join. Now I'm at 200, but that doesn't mean I won't be at 210 tomorrow. Even though I realize that it doesn't make a bit of difference as to what my ultimate approval time is, I don't like it when my ranking goes down.

With all the waiting involved I've been thinking about ways not to let either myself or Olha to get depressed about all this. I want to redocorate the house - paint, drapes, new carpeting, and all that. Initially I was thinking that it would be good to do all these things before she arrived. I'm starting to think, however, that perhaps that is not such a good idea. I think having her spend time thinking about what she'd like to do, planning how she'd like things to look, and then actually working side by side with me to get it done, will not only give us both something to distract us for the next 6 months, but also give her that sense of immediate contribution to our new "family" when she is here. Once the fun of planning the decorating wears off, my next step is to encourage her to start shopping for her wedding dress, that should extend the good mood for at least another 45 days.

Anybody have any other ideas on how to help our SO's get through this as well?

Hi, I am new here tonight. I filed in Jan 08 and just got my 129F approved (CSC). I am awaiting my letter from NVC.
