hi everyone,
Just wanna ask for those who were done for their AOS Initial Interview. I am willing to hear from your stories and experiences as well as some possible questions of your consulate. My interview would be this coming Tuesday January 27,2009 it's my late Mom's birthday. Hearing from you will give me a hint and I would so much appreciate it. I'll be always waiting. God bless....
I just had my interview last Janury 21 at Los Angeles. It took us like 15 to 20 minutes. The person interviewed didn't ask much questions. The first thing he asked was my passport and my husband drivers license and then she asked if I have more ID so I gave her my EAD card. Then he started going through the our files that he had. Then he asked for proof/evidence of living together so I showed him our photo albums and the albums I did for all the letters/cards that we received in both our names but he never looked at them instead he asked for bank statements, lease agreements, utility bills and insurances that has both of our names. We showed him our bank statements and check book and our marriage certificate because that is all we got. Then he asked, Is that all you got? and my husband answered yes because my wife cannot get an SS# because Social Security says that Immigration did not update their database and they still got my maiden name on it so I could not get/add her to my insurance and niether cannot get ID's and we dicided to just get my social number after I get my permanent card so the interviewer said....Your paper looks good but since you only have a few proofs I will have to ask 5 questions to each of you separately and if your answers match then you will be fine. So we said ok. Then he walked my husband out of the cubicle and started asking me the following questions; 1. Who cooks in your house 2. What kind of food do you usually cook 3. What time does your husband work 4. Do you a work and where? 5. Which side of your husband do you sleep? Those were the questions that he asked me and he wrote down my answers and then he let my husband in and asked the same questions. Then he said your answers are good so thats it and then he took a paper about changing status from conditional and how to remove it and explained it to us and then he said you will receive your card in the mail in about 30 days.
So that is how our interview went, We were so happy of course and we hope to receive my card in the mail the soonest. Good luck to your interview and hope this experience that I share will give you a hint or could help you.
God bless!!!

I just wanna share my interview today with the immigration at Los at Los Angeles. The interview took 15 minutes more or less. The immigration officer who interviewed us was a chinese dude.
First he let us stand and ask to raise our hand and said something which I didn't even understand because he talks too fast then he let us sit down. He asked my husband's drivers license and then my passport and some more id and i gave him my EAD then then he asked if I have more id which I dont have because I still dont have my SS#. Then the next question he asked was the proofs that we live together. So I gave him the photo albums that we have, albums of the cards and correspondence that friends and family sent us to both our names but he didn't even look at them, then I gave him our bank statements and checkbook on both our names. Then he asked our marriage certificate and looked at it then he said do you have more evidences? like lease agreements? so my husband said no we own a house then he asked for more but that is all we got. Then he said your papers are ok but if only you have brought more proofs then I will not have to do this. Then he said I will have to ask 5 questions to both of you separately then if your answers match then you will be ok. So he walked my husband out and came back and asked me the following questions:
1. Who usually cooks in the house/what do you cook
2. What time does your husband works
3. Where do I work
4. The kind of business we have
5. Which side of your husband do you sleep
He wrote down my answers then went outside and called my husband and he asked the same questions. Then he asked me a lot of questions where in my answers where all no. Then after that he said it looks good then he got a paper wrote something in it then gave it to us....the paper is about the process on how to remove the conditional permanent residence. Then he stamped our file then he said you will receive your card in about 90 days but it could be earlier.
We are just so happy and we hope to receive the green card soon.

We are both on the same situation. It frustrates me so much so I did not go back to SSA since then and now it got me worried because I am scheduled for my interview on January 21, 2009 and I still dont have my SS number. My husband could not add me to his bank account, insurances and could not get a drivers license and the State Id too because they always ask for SS#. I am worried as to what else would I show as a proof of our legal marriage because I dont have those documents.
Anybody there who has ideas? Thanks and I would appreciate any help from you. To Sally, I hope you can get it soon.

Although my journey in AOS is not that very good, I am very happy to read successful stories here.
I filed June 19 but I have not received any interview letter as of today. And also, I got my EAD on October 16, on the same day I applied for Social Secutiry, up until this day no card or number was assigned to me because it seems that the EAD card issued to me was invalid. I went to USCIS last November 18 to complain about this, and I was told that it was their mistake that my EAD was not uploaded in the system and that it should be okay by Friday. I checked my status online and I got 2 touches after November 18, I went to Social Security office today, and guess what??? CARD is still invalid. my name is still not in the system. My card was printed out Oct 6, this coming Dec 6, its gonna be 2 months now and still I am unable to work because of I do not have social secuity.
How come they have issued me a Permit to work but is not valid for SSN.
I am really going crazy. I can not get a driver license nor a job without. I dont know what else to do. I hope one day, I will be posting a happy news here as well just like you guys. Feels like my AOS journey is a disaster.
But, I will continue to hang on and pray. Congratulations to everyone.
Hi, I was wondering how did you able to go to the USCIS office. Did you made an appointment with them?If so how did you do it? Sorry got so many questions.
Hope you will have your SS number soon. Good luck.

Guys I am so frustrated.
I thought after receiving EAD everything will be (atleats) fine.
I went to SSA office to follow up with my SSN Card, they said Immigration has not responded back to confirm authenticity of my EAD card. BUt it has alreadt been 4 months. So the lady put another order, and I will have to go back to zero again. And said it might take awhile. Same thing is true with my DMV State ID, I applied for a state ID 4 weeks ago, and up to now I have not received the card. I called their office and was informed that Immigration has not approved authenticity of my legal presence.which means my card is not yet on their system. my EAD has been mailed to me since October 7, 2008 and up to now still not on their system???????????
I cant start working without Driver Licence and SSN card.. brrrrrrrr
I dont know what to do.
I also have not heard from my AOS after receiving my EAD in early October. We are moving by the Decmber 5th.
I also went to SSA to apply for my SSN Card and I had the same problem like yours. SSA office says that Immigration hasn't updated their database because my record carries my name in my passport still and not my married name so they cant issue me a card yet. I feel so frustrated because I already received my work permit in my married name so I was wondering how the hell immigration doesn't have an updated file on their system.
And also no good news on my AOS. Anyhow congratulations to everyone who got theirs.
-
Ok all.. any updates for anyone? Nothing on our AOS since 10/7.
Nada here also after I got my EAD. Congrats to everyone and good luck on your job hunting.

I just don't get it... everything was going so quick and now all of a sudden nothing is getting done on our case... we thought that by now we would be able to finally say we got approved... i see other people who applied after me already getting their approval.... i'm sorry i'm just very whiny today.... i am happy for those who have already gotten their aos approved... just hope they approve ours soon.... we sacrificed alot just to do things the right way... i just want us to be rewarded for that! :-(
Being that yours was transfered to the CSC you should get yours in a decent amount of time. Those of us who were not transfered will be waiting probably much longer. All we can do is be patient and keep our fingers crossed.
Yeah that is right. My case is not tranfered to CSC also and I dont have my EAD either but just checked online and it says "Card Production Ordered". I hope it won't take that much for us long for us that was not transfered.
Anyway, congratulations to all those that have their EAD and Green Cards.
-
Congartulations to everyone that have their cases trasfered to CSC and to those who have their EAD on the way. And to those like me who has no good news yet, wishing, hoping and praying that ours will come soon.
