  1. Our case was completed at the NVC on July 16th. Finally!!!!!

    What happens next ??

I files my I-130 on 15th Aug 2007 and my case was completed on 16th of July 2008. I envy some people whose process took less than 6 months but hey, i am happy for you and god bless your journey of life. When i called NVC they told me that they will schedule (or try to schedule) the interview with bombay office on 15th of Aug. They schedule interviews on every 15th of the month. Cos they do not have any appointment available for Aug 2008, they will try ot get the date in Sept. They also give you one month to prepare the doc and also, clear medical. Does it mean my wife will have interview after Sept 2008 ? No one at NVC is able to answer this question, they are just asking me to wait and check back after 15th Aug.

I AM PROUD CITIZEN OF USA, i think i need to go back and check the definition of "PROUD" before i use that word for USA and specially the bureaucratic agencies like NVC. I know i sound bitter and upset, but its a human nature :)

regards and good luck to all, please ignore my frustration, its going to be fine soon.

I filed the 130 in June of 2007, so mine took a long time also. It has just been completed at NVC. I think you will get the interview in Sept. Ours is the 9th of Sept. Just keep trying to call the NVC every couple of days, because if your case is completed, they should be scheduling your interview soon. Good luck!!

  2. Congrats  Have you gotten your Interview date yet? I see on your timeline 9/9/08 is that correct??

Did you call NVC to ge that date?

Yes, I called and they gave me the interview date, it is September 9th at 10 a.m.

I'm happy, but I know that we will need the waiver 601 & 212

  3. I agree with rebeccajo about immigrate2us. . .it is a very informative site for this.

In addition, consider looking at the CIA World Factbook for facts about Ecuador, https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/th...ok/geos/ec.html

everything from Economy to education to infant mortality. Also, take a look at travel.state.gov for information on Ecuador http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_...s/cis_1106.html

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO HAVE KIDS JUST FOR THE IMMIGRATION PROCESS. . . IT DOESN'T HELP!

Thanks. We do want children, but I want to wait until my husband is here with me.

Thanks for the links to the websites, I will check those out.

I will maybe post on the other website you mentioned immigrate2us.net.

  4. I am a bit emotional right now. I guess it's just been a long process and everytime I feel like we are getting close to happiness, something else happens to bring us down.

I have been reading others posts, hardship letters, etc, trying to get an idea. I would like to ask your opinion on our case.

My husband entered the u.s. illegally in 1999 ( he was 17).

He was caught in Texas, and the rest is unclear to him because he did not speak english, but his lawyer let him go, and he ended up going to Connecticut, where he lived and worked for the next 6 yrs.

In Jan. 2006, we were married.

In Dec. 2006, we went thru a traffic stop in NY and he was taken to a jail and deported back to Ecuador.

I filed his I-130 in June 2007, and it was approved in Feb. 2008.

Ok, I'm going to get to the point.

Right now, we are waiting to send in the Ds230 and get the interview.

He will probably need the I-212 and 601, right. Now, to prove hardship...

I don't have any health problems, we don't have children.

    *the possibilities*

I have some financial issues (student loans, bills, etc.)

His country is poor and it will be hard for me to find work there.

I will miss my family. I am my father's only child. HIs health is not good, but he refuses to go to the doctor.

I have 2 jobs, but they are just waitressing jobs, I don't think immigration will take those jobs seriously enough to create a hardship if I was not serving someone their Filet Mignon.

I'm sorry if this post is not making any sense. I am just very sad and worried, that I will not be able to prove an Extreme hardship, and will have to spend the next 8 yrs *he has a paper banning him for 10 yrs* in Ecuador. I will be 36 yrs old. I spent 9 months in Ecuador and felt very depressed and homesick.

I don't know what to do? Has anyone dealt with this or is going through this now? How do you get through separations?

Do you think my case is weak?

  5. They refer to DHS as USCIS almost interchageably.

Have you completed your hardship letter and packet??

If not, check out immigrate2us.net. They have a lot of tips and examples there as well as a lot of people experienced with waivers.

Thank you I will check out that site.

Hello everyone, I hope someone can help me.

My husband was in the U.S. illegally from 1999-2006 and was deported. He received a paper from the U.S. Dept of Justice banning him from entering the U.S. for 10 yrs. At the I-130 interview, the officer told me that my husband would need to file a waiver of grounds of inadmissability and to call and make an appointment at the U.s. embassy in Ecuador.

I got everything ready for that, and when I called USCIS again with questions, they told me that you cannot make an appointment for the waiver, you have to wait until the Visa interview and if a waiver is needed they will have him fill one out then.

So, I haven't done anything. Our case is almost complete at the NVC I am just waiting for the packet. Now, I have been reading these forums and it says that people go to the Visa interview, get denied, and then have a second interview, and a long waiting period in between....

I called NVC to ask them about this, and what they told me is that the Waiver is not filed through the embassy it is filed with Immigration. Does this mean the USCIS? Should I have my husband bring the form and packet from me to his Visa interview just in case they can do it that day?

I am very confused about this and I really don't want to waste anymore time than I have to.

Please any responses would be appreciated. Maybe I will call the NVC back, but it doesn't seem like they know anything.

    Hi,

What will happen is, your hubby will scheduled an IV interview at the US EMbassy in Ecuador. At the interview he will be denied a visa. When he is denied he will be given a 221g. This paper will explain why he was denied a visa. If he is eligible to file the 601 hardship waiver and 212 he will be told that he can file. The cost for these is $545 each. I do not know how Ecuador works but usually if you have the waivers with you they will allow you to pay for and turn in the waivers. From there the ajudication depends on the specific office or if it has to be sent to another DHS facility to ajuducate. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Do you have to apply for both of the waivers? Wow, that is a lot of money.

  7. Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I paid the $400 immigrant visa bill a few weeks ago. I have not yet received a barcode sheet. I paid thru the regular mail.

Today I received a form saying that I am missing the DS230 and the $400 fee.

I guess my question is Can I go ahead and send the 230 without the barcode sheet? They have sent me a barcode sheet for the missing documents.

Also, what exactly goes with the ds230 packet? I have just part one and two... is that all I need?

I am very confused and nervous because this process is not going as fast as it should be.

I have been waiting to send the 230, and I should have already sent it, right? Do I have to send his passport copy and other documents with it also. I have not received a "packet" like others on here.

Any advice or direction would be appreciated. Please and thank you :)

    Chantal
