Just a little bit of information. My husband(from the the UK)and I are moving from Virginia to Iowa. We've just recently purchased a house there and will close the end of September. My husbands green card expires Jan 15 2012 so we will need to file it sometime in later October. Our problem is we are not moving until November 14th-we are having a baby the end of October and can't move prior to that. Should we wait a few weeks and file the form? And if we do to which service center? Vermont or CA. We just need his biometrics to be scheduled in Iowa not Virginia. Also we plan on taking a trip to the UK next year and would just like to confirm that he can travel on his expired greencard as long as he has his year extension with him is that correct?

Wait till you move to your residence in Iowa and file it there. CA service center is moving faster than vermont and your bio will be setup in your new home state. So the few weeks you loose moving you'll make up with your new service center. Also once you get the extension letter, it will be more than enough to go out of the country and get back in. Goodluck with the newborn and uscis.

To file an I-130 at the USCIS field office in New Delhi, you must be a legal resident of India for at least 6 months.

You need to reside in India for 6 months consecutively. Things have changed a lot.

No, it is not mandatory, as long as you have all your supporting documents to send in with your I-751 application. Btw send it via a tracking method, you don't want to risk it being lost or undelivered. You just have to be back here for your biometrics appointment. Also don't stay out of the country past your conditional greencards expiration date without the extention letter you get after filing the I-751. goodluck.

Once you are here the uscis is not concerned with your financial status. They are more concerned with bonafide marrige in good faith. This mean comingling of assets, credit, debts, etc. Etc. Etc. They want to know that you live together and are still living together, mixing your financials, paying taxes jointly and all that stuff. Bankruptcy should not be an issue. It will only affect your credit for about 7 yrs, which has nothing to do with your uscis I-751. Goodluck.

the date i filed the I751 was end of feb and but on the status of the case it says march 1st and I did my biometrics on march 29, 2011 there are no special circumstances on my case so if I did my biometrics at the end of march does that mean I still have to wait another month for vermont service center to make a decision or could they by making a decision anyday now. do you know if the uscis updates there website case numbers regularly or slowly.

Hang in there, you are on schedule. Right now those who did their bio's in early April are seeing some activity. Looking at the timeline here there are many others ahead of you still waiting, including myself. Keep those fingers crossed and a little prayer and hope vsc keeps on moving. Hey you never know when someone will get lucky and skips the line. Good luck.

Anyone else getting an error when checking their case status online with the receipt # from noa1? Maybe they just haven't updated it in there system?

"Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283."

We left our acct and card #'s visible. I wouldn't be too worried, like someone mentioned if the government really wants they can find out anything about us I think.

Do we need to keep the account number on bank statements and credit card statements? Or is it ok to black out the account number on the statements?

Just got NOA1 today from VSC hang in there everyone its starting. One issue though, when I try adding it to my portfolio with the receipt on the letter, I get a validation error. I'll try to add it another time maybe a website issue? Never a dull moment with uscis

How long did it take others to get their NOA 1? I sent mine out on Monday the 7th and I was thinking I should receive it next week.

Yes, what a surprise. I had gotten one also. Note to everyone: don't wait for them to send you a letter, if you never get letter and forget to do ROC it could be bad. So mark your calendars.
