  1. And paint it any way you like - it doesn't get any more prejudiced and bigoted than suggesting that a country of approximately 150 million people are (mostly) racist.

Scary, isn't it? I truly hope that you're right and all the polls and surveys that claim otherwise are wrong.

You mean the polls which you take at face value to justify preconceived ideas about people from Russia?

Preconceived? Hardly. I was there, remember? Saw it with my own eyes.

  2. You have implied that one can assume the political views of individuals purely on the basis of their nation of origin.

Sure you can. Most Texans are Republicans and most Californians - Democrats.

Whatever the truth may be about the racism problem in Russia, it clear that on this subject - r*cist is exactly what you are.

My wife is African American and I don't appreciate being called a racist because my experiences don't happen to align with your beliefs.

  3. Xenophobia and other racist expressions affect 50 percent of Russians."

So much for your statement that 100% of Russians are racists and bigots.

I'd like you to show me where I said that.

I said "most", not "all." All the Russians I met were bigots and racists, certainly not all Russians.

    Nice deflection but no cigar:

I don't claim that most Americans are bigots and racists because they are not. [I claim that] Most Russians are.

The implication here is clear - that your characterisation of Russians goes beyond your subjective personal experiences and enters the realm of an objective statement of fact.

    Reading Comprehension 101?

52% of respondents to a survey - the methodology and sample selection of which we do not have access to.

Are you saying the survey is wrong? Why, because it seems wrong to you?

  4. So I gather when you visited Moscow/Russia, you visited your skinhead friend? And now we are all skinheads Neo-Nazzis? Cool...

I don't have any "skinhead friends".

I wonder if you go down to South of US, and attend KKK rally, will you than come to the boards and claim that all Americans are bigots and racist? I wonder, how many KKK members are there(wiki)?

According to Wiki, about 8,000 members, and they don't exactly go around lynching and killing people these days.

I don't claim that most Americans are bigots and racists because they are not. Most Russians are.

You realise of course that this is a completely unjustifiable statement...

    Justifiable? Or quantifiable?

52% Russians support the slogan "Russia for Russians." (link)

  6. So you've been to Russia, and everyone was a bigot, racist? Somehow thats hard to believe.(The part where you actually visited those places)

Most people, yes. Racist out of ignorance, rather than bad experiences - you won't find much diversity in terms of race in most of Russia.

And you've been to Latvia too? Why would you need Wikipedia to know what happened between Russians and Latvians if you've been there first hand?

Who says I need Wikipedia? I don't even use the damn thing.

  7. Gee, I wonder why.

So do I. Russian Empire got them out of German control. Then Bolsheviks gave them their first independence in 1918. In 1940 they joined the Soviet Union voluntarily. In 1944 the Soviet Union reclaimed what already belonged to them. Puzzle.

Really now? Did you read that in a Soviet textbook?

Where did you get your info? Canadian textbook?

Have you actually ever been to Latvia? Have you ever been to Russia? Georgia?

    No, Yes, Yes, No.

  8. i have know several russians in my life..and a close friend in kazakhstan..they are unbiased and humanistic..to label a people as biased in over generalization and not true..most russian people are caring for their families and each other

Good for you. All the Russians I ever met were either bigots or racists, nostalgic for the

folie de grandeur of Russian imperialist ambitions.

    Are you really Canadian?

Why, did I misspell folie de grandeur?

  10. On the same coin, where's Russia's consistency with S. Ossetia since it backed Serbia's claim to Kosovo? If you can answer that, then I'll totally engage the American policy of picking and choosing whom to support (while having skeletons in our own closet, mind you).

Piece of cake. In the case of Serbia, Russia backed "Slavic brothers" against the Kosovo Muslims supported by the US. In the case of S. Ossettia, Russia backed Russian citizens and peacekeeping troops against the Georgian backed by the U.S. :D No consistency, you say?

The only consistency is that Russia is full of bigoted racist a33holes.

Ever met a Russian who wasn't a bigot or a racist? Good luck.

Da I've met Russians that weren't racist or prejudiced against others.

I haven't yet. I'm only talking about Russians, mind. Ukrainians, Belorussians and other neighbours are usually ok.
