I had a B1/B2 US tourist visa valid from 2013 into 2023. I was a minor at the time that it was applied for by my parents for our family. In 2023, I was away for university in Canada and I did not focus on renewing the visa. I am now still in Canada, working, and looking to renew my B1 B2 visa to visit other family in the US. I filled out the DS 160 form and scheduled an interview date for possibly biometrics on the AIS US visa website, but on this platform, my information says that my country of permanent residence is Canada and it gave me an appointment for April 2, 2026. A couple days later, I got an email notification saying I would need to provide any documentation (at the appointment) that I am a PR in Canada, if I fail to do so I will be turned away. I am not a PR. I am a temporary resident on a work permit, so the email advised me to cancel my appointment and reset the form and schedule a new appointment. I went onto the AIS US visa platform to do so and I could not edit the country of residence section no matter what I tried to do and so I went ahead and edited what I could on the form and upon hitting the ‘submit’ button, I was given 2 options to choose from: whether I am a PR or have any proof of landing OR the other option was none of the above apply so I selected the none of the above and I scheduled an appointment for June 2027. I’m not sure if what I’ve done is correct because the form still says that I am permanently residing in Canada but I also ticked the box that says not PR.I want to know if this is correct or wrong. Or literally any advice on what to do here.
