My son and I applied the same time but he had an RFE so our interviews came at a different time. My AOS has been approved already, so do we still need my husband to be there during the interview?

Hey everyone!

Just want to vent here...Had interview last Dec 9 and was not approved right there and then. Officer got my I-90 but did not get my EAD and passport. Said we will know in 2-4 weeks of decision. Its been 4 weeks but nothing. I know of someone here who went through the same ordeal and in the same office in Seattle, they got approved (so happy for them) and got the news a couple of weeks ago..and to think we had our interview days ahead of them. aargh.

Hey everyone,

Just an update, I had my interview last dec 9 in Seattle. Officer did not approve us there and then, she said she had to review it later that afternoon and we will know in 4 weeks if they have a decision or if they need more proof from us. We had our marriage certificate, health insurance and loads of pictures to show our bonafide marriage but I guess she needed more.

I try to stay positive about it, my husband is doing a great job on reminding me to not worry about it since we have a genuine relationship and we are so much in love with each other. Its just really frustrating sometimes. You think that we go through alot of things and interrogation before coming here and then when you finally got to be with your partner, they can still be a hinder to the relationship.

I really wish good luck to those of you with interviews coming up and that hopefully you dont experience what we have experienced. I will let you guys know of "their decision" - God I cant believe they decide for our happiness.

I went to my first ever interview today. I was so nervous at first, and seeing I am the only Asian on the list made me more nervous plus I dont know what to expect on a "U.S." interview, and theres more...a man walked into the room in the middle of the interview and introduced himself as the owner (boy that almost killed me right there and then) but I collected myself and thought positively.. that for him to come in and join in the interview means he is very interested in me. Then he asked for my resume (the interviewer didnt ask for it but just made me sign an application form) and did the interviewing himself. I guess I did good cos he wants me to come back on Monday to monitor the work flow and see if I will like it and vice versa. Im full of positive energy right now, really deserve that after all the waiting from USCIS! God is good.

I will let you know on Monday when I nail it! This is the kind of job I really wanted so I hope I get it.

Wooohoo! And my AP is approved as well. So were now just waiting for my son's interview appointment. I really hope we have the same date, since my son had an RFE, weve got different dates of approval. If we don't, I might still bring my son to my appointment and take the chance of him being interviewed as well.

To those who have not gotten their EAD and AP but received their interview appointment already, dont be bothered as Im sure it will follow soon too. Goodluck also to everyone waiting for theirs.

Anyone in August filer had interview first? I don't have my EAD but I already have initial interview in 2 weeks at San Francisco. I'm really confused why I have interview schedule first were most of us here received EAD first. Thank God I don't received any RFE since I only submitted vaccine sheet (DS 3025). Hope they don't ask it during my interview.

Dont worry Sunlyk we have the same case. I have an interview set on Dec 9th and still no EAD and AP. My son's application was sent together with mine, he got an RFE, we sent it back a couple of weeks later, and still his EAD and AP got approved already. Though he doesnt have an interview appointment yet and I really hope we will have the same date as we do not want my husband to be taking 2 days off from work.

No news yet on my EAD and AP (and yes I have the interview appointment already).

I checked on my son's status, and guess what, his EAD and AP are both approved and are in production already! And to think that there was an RFE on his papers. Just ironic for me though that his EAD is approved already when I am the one really in need of it! We only got one for him for SSN purposes. Oh well, im still glad his case is moving.

I got a letter from USCIS today- Request for Applicant to Appear for Initial Interview...now this got me confused. I havent received my EAD and AP yet and I got this, and it says INITIAL interview. Is it normal to get the interview appointment first before the EAD and AP? And is this letter the "one" interview some of us are waiting for? It just sounds to me like I will have a series of it cause of the word initial.

Congrats. I think that's how they usually refer to the first interview, because some people are sometimes asked to go for 2nd interviews. Otherwise you shouldn't worry about the term 'Initial'. And wow, you are lucky July and even some June filers havent recieved their ILs yet. what is your local DO?

Jen,

I think you might be one of rare case where they approve GC before EAD. A really good friend of mine had that happen to her husband. He got the interview before work permit and everything. However, unfortunately they didn't approve right away because his FBI check wasn't back yet.

You can always give them a call and ask, it doesn't hurt.

Be positive about it.

Let us know what happens.

Thanks everyone for the infos. I hope it really is a good news for me, I think I deserve some (after all the nice home cooked meals i serve my family everyday ). I will try calling them too tomorrow and hopefully learn about my EAD and AP. That is really weird to get GC first, the EAD wont make sense at all if it happens.

Hi everyone!

Dont know if youre still counting for the August filers but you can count me in. We submitted last August 28th and according to USPS, they received it the next day. Will have to check with the bank if they have cashed the check (yeah check the check hehe).

I know this is the start of the long wait and working is goin to be a few months from now. School started this week which is the first time for my son so lonesomeness is really kicking in but im tryin to keep myself busy with gourmet cooking (yeah food network is my bestfriend here hehe), goin around the area and getting myself acquainted w/ roads (numbered roads are supposedly less confusing but thats not the case with me). I know I have to enjoy my "vacation" while im on it cos when I start a job it will be hard to get some (weird that here in the U.S., they can only give a couple of weeks vacation for a year!)

I wish everyone goodluck and hope to hear about updates real soon.

2) In this case the foreign citizen IS the petitioner, and they DO attach photo copy of Birth cert, and passport, they go with I-485.

3) Yes, EAD and AP are interim benefits based on pending I-485.

Hope someone can help me about the ff questions I have with my AOS completion,

1) Do I need to submit additional copies of Passports, Marriage Certificate, Birth Cert and 2 passport photos with the EAD and the AP applications?

2) I see some who submit the petitioners copy of Passport and Birth Certificate, in which application do they go with?

3) Im applying concurrently with my 10 yr old son, and if I apply for EAD and AP for him , is the fee still $600 for him?

My husband and I are starting with our AOS applications. I came here on a K-1 visa and married now.

There are a few items we dont understand so I hope you can help us. Here they are:

1) Which is the I-94 #? (is it the one written on the upper left? or the one handwritten on the back)

2) What is an Alien #? (there is an A# written below my husbands name on my visa, is that his or mine)

3) I just applied for SS # a couple of weeks ago so I dont have a # yet, do I just leave it blank when asked?

4) On I-485 Part 3-B - I wrote my husbands name and I checked NO on the question -Applying with you- (is that right?)

Just got done with my medical exam. They gave me my xray and my vaccination records. My question is do i have to bring this (xray and vaccincation record) on the day of my interview? Please advise. Thanks.

I'm trying to work it out from various threads on this forum but i still don't get this slip thing. From what my fiance told me after her interview every one was informed they still had to do document checks. Can some one explain what the white and pink signify?

The pink slip is just the Delbros delivery slip. Which means that if you only get this after interview, they will send your visa soon (within a week or the week of next). The white slip is a legal size paper, which they call 221g, and there are boxes that they mark if they need additional documents from you. For most of the K1 under the document verification, there are no marks on the boxes, but they will just sometimes highlight the "wait till you hear from us..." or nothing at all but definitely its a document verification thing.

You are on AR. Mine was the same, no check marked. They will just have to verify it documents with NSO. They say 6 weeks for timeframe but thats with allowance already. It can be sooner than that. Anyway, youre approved already pending the document verification (as long as theres no false documentation, then youre alright)
