I answered “yes.” But now I have realized that I worked in my hometown for four months in 2017 and paid taxes there. My income was quite small — about $8,000. So what should I do now? How does the officer check if a yes/no question is answered correctly? I mean, for example, if I had lived for a certain time in your hometown before getting a green card, you could be cited there. But if you said “no” on your application, how could they verify that it is not true?

I have been working as a Software Engineer on a contract basis (tax return 1099 form) remotely. I worked as a contractor with one company for three years, and now I’m working with another one. (I mean, I can’t say the name of the company I work for as a contractor, because I’m not an employee there — correct?)
