  1. Hello, I am a US citizen sponsoring my Brazilian Fiancé’s k1 visa. I have received a letter scheduling me for a biometrics collection appointment. Is this a normal part of the process? Or is this due to the felony background I reported in the i129f visa petition? I ask because the letter mentions the FBI will be collecting my biometrics. We aren’t sure if this is normal or if they want to check law enforcement databases to see if I truly reported all of my arrests. (I did report everything in the i129f) If this is an extra step we are going through due to my background, could anyone comment on how much of a delay this might cause? The arrests I had were for the “sale/delivery of schedule 1 substance” in 2012. It was because I had been caught selling bk-mdma, which was a designer version of mdma. At the time bk-mdma wasn’t explicitly illegal, but it was considered an analogue substance and therefore was illegal when represented “for human consumption”. The only other arrest was 2013 for a failed drug test on probation.
  2. I was referring to take home pay, tax return not included. As long as they will accept my paycheck stubs, bank account copies, and a letter proving employment, then I should be ok. I was just worried that I wasn't working most of last year and half of this year. As long as they consider the rate at which Im making money and not a hard line "$26,437 during 2025" then we should be ok.
  3. I wanted to ask about the K1 Visa financial requirements. I am an American citizen who has filed an i129f for my Brazilian fiancee, NOA1 received on march 11th 2025. The problem is that in 2024 I resigned my job and only worked for 3 months that year. In those 3 months I was on track to earn about $48,000 that year (earned about $42,000 in 2023 & $35,000 in 2022). Between march 2024 and May 2025 I was unemployed & was a college student spending my savings in that timeframe. Since May 2025 I have been working again, still a college student pursuing Engineering. Im on track to make $33,600 working part time right now. In addition, my father sends me $1,200 per month to help with expenses and covers all tuition payments separately from the $1,200 per month. He is trying to help grow my savings account in light of the K1 process, however he refuses to sign the financial support paperwork for my fiancee. So $14,400 per year from my father + $33,600= $48,000 per year, plus a bright future in an Engineering career. Can anyone comment on how this will be viewed by the immigration officers? Will they consider the $1,200 per month my father sends? Will they consider my career as an Engineer and previous work history as an Aerospace Technician?
