Hello, our case was updated at NVC on Sept 6 -- they sent a package to my mom. (This is for updating the table, thank you.)

Will I receive a letter when my affidavit of support package has been accepted? (not just received..) I checked the NVC hotline but there was no information regarding that set of documents.

You would put zero as your 'current' income is zero.

So even though I made a little over 20k this year before going to school (and declaring it on taxes for 2009) I am supposed to put "0"?

For Part 5 of the I-864 (Affidavit of Support), my husband is also "a person on an I-864 who is now a lawful permanent resident". Do I then count him twice for the purpose of this question? This would make our household 4, including my petitionee (mother), even though it's actually three people. Is that correct ?? Seems rather odd to count one person twice.
Also, for question 23 (current individual income), do I put zero (since I'm a full-time student now), or the amount I made this year until I entered school ? I am currently not employed.

Bah, please ignore the first question --- I just re-read the instructions :blush: For some reason I can't edit this post anymore. I still need confirmation on the 2nd question --- do I put down what I've earned so far this year, even though I'm currently not employed?

The DS-230 is the application for immigrant visa.
The DS-3032 is the Choice of Agent form.

If you have already paid the AOS fee and the IV fee then you need to send the I-864 (AOS) and the DS-230 (IV) to the NVC for processing.

The Person nominated on the Choice of Agent form is the person who should be sending the forms to NVC. If your Mom is doing them herself then she need to mail them to NVC.

Yes the email is the authority from NVC to continue with the next step.

Thank you, that clears things up a lot. My mom has already sent in the Choice of Agent form (herself), so all she needs to do now is fill out the DS-230 from the website with the accompanying documents and send them in right? And on my half, send in the I-864?

Hello, I've got a few questions about this process we're a bit confused about ---

What's the difference between the DS-230 and 3032 forms (DS-230 biographic info, 3032 other forms that come in the mail after handing in 230 or am I wrong)? Am I (petitioner) supposed to be handling those or my mom? (she is doing her side of the forms herself). We've paid both the IV and AOS fee since we got email notices to do so, but I haven't sent in the I-864 yet (waiting on a letter of employment to arrive in mail). Should we wait to even send in that or the DS-230 --- I'm unsure of whether or not the email notices with the fees to pay count as "authorization from NVC" as specified on website, where it says Warning: Do not take any action described above without authorization from the NVC. Taking action without the NVC's authorization could result in a delay in processing your case.

Hello,

I need to file the I-864 for my petition for my mother (case is now at NVC). I'm currently a college student and have no income outside of stipend from financial aid; my husband works full-time and makes well over the minimum poverty line. However, to complicate matters further, he is a green card holder that I petitioned four years ago so technically he's still under sponsorship from me (he hasn't gotten his citizenship yet). Is this going to be a problem for him to co-sponsor my mom?

I've been looking for a part-time job but obv. can't work regular work hours because of school. Until June of this year I was making well over $40k a year so I have the IRS tax transcripts but not the letter of employment :\

I also have an uncle willing to co-sponsor if my husband is ineligible to help; Is 1) my status as a student going to be a big issue since I'm the petitioner 2) my husband eligible to co-sponsor as member of the household?

Oh sorry, I meant the USCIS approval notice, not the end of the process --- wouldn't that be NOA2? Still have to go through NVC + embassy interview. Unfortunately we are still far off from having the approval from the interview.

Um... When I checked the processing times for CSC today, this is what I got:

How is that possibly accurate ? SIX YEARS for waiting for an immediate relative for USC ?!

By the way, reshari on that list has already been approved at NVC I believe, as of the end of May -- I saw a thread he/she had bumped regarding the parents' interviews.

Read careful , it`s very helpful. This link is created for a spouse but 99.9% the same for a parent.

One advice if you are applying for your mom and she is divorced when you send I-130 make sure you give them her divorce certificate. They requested this for as an extra document.

Umm, are you sure about the divorce document? The I-130 instructions say nothing about that, I thought that was evidence that was asked for later on by NVC after the I-130 petition had been approved.

Maybe you'll have to rethink leaving your job to go to school right now. What is your priority--going to school or completing the immigration?

Perhaps I was not being clear about what the issue is. It should be possible to do both, my question was not at all about whether or not I should go ahead with petitioning at all.

I could technically file the 864EZ because I am still employed at the same job that I would be providing W2's / tax forms for, but it does not feel honest to do so.

The alternative is to file the regular I864 form with co-sponsors (my husband on the I-864A or my uncle as a non-household member co-sponsor), but since I currently earn well over the salary cap, I'm concerned USCIS might ignore/question the need for co-sponsors. There does not appear to be room on the forms for any sort of explanation regarding my change in financial status.

Which method is the correct one to use?

Does anyone know what to do in a case where a sponsor for a petition for alien relative (in this case, 1 parent) is going to be leaving their job this year to go to full time studies at university?

In short, the relative is my mum and I'm leaving my job in July to go to school full-time. I am still at the job I have held for the last 8 years (career-change) and will be until then.

- Which I-864 form do I fill out (the EZ, since I *currently* make well over 125% of the poverty level), or would I need to get a co-sponsor and file the I-864 regular form?

Sorry, for some reason it won't let me edit my original post:

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to tell USCIS that I'm going to leave for school in the middle of the year (in which case I'd have to get a co-sponsor). It seems logical that I would, but the forms give no room for that?

Also, how long does a parent petition take normally? (Since they are not constrained by visa queues)

Hehe yes, douglassheridan, if you're in Michigan I bet my husband and you were at the same biometrics office.

I do notice that most of the recent approvals are for CSC-based people, not (originally) NSC people --- I hope they are not putting transfers at a lower priority I'm happy for people who are getting their cards so quickly but it's also depressing to see someone get theirs when they applied 3 months after you did. :crying:

Oh well, here's to hoping it comes soon!
