  1. Hi Everyone,

I have my AOS interview on February 11 and I received correspondence from my lawyer advising that there is an extra fee for her to attend our interview. We don't mind paying the fee but I was just wondering if it is necessary for her to attend? What documents have people provided to prove their marriage. My husband and I have joint bank accounts, both our names are on our auto insurance, we are both the beneficiaries on our life policies. We live in an apartment attached to my husbands parents house so we don't have a lease agreement. What else would prove our relationship? We each own our own vehicle and they are in our own names as we thought it would be better for me credit wise to have my own car in my own name! I don't have a job yet as I haven't been able to find one with the horrible economy we are facing. I am just worried that we don't have enough evidence to prove our relationship. This really sucks!

    Thanks

Joint bank accounts and having a joint life insurance policy are the most important things they want to see so I believe you will meet with their satisfaction :) They might also want to see wedding photos, photos back when you were dating..dinner receipts maybe stuff like.. I think you will be absolutely fine IMO.

Thank you! Now I have another question ... I already have AP and we have flights booked to go back home the day after my interview. Will my AP still be effective after my interview? Should I bring my travel itinerary?

  3. How can I check the status of my AP? I tried to apply for emergency travel yesterday and they advised me they couldn't process AP but they contacted the office for me and they advised they are going to expedite my original AP application and overnight it to me. I want to call and check to make sure they were telling me the truth. Thanks

  4. Went online today and my EAD card went into production on November 7 and they said I should have it in 30 days. Went yesterday to apply for emergency travel, made an infopass appointment and they told me they couldn't process that type of application however they contacted the office that does process the AP and they advised that they are going to expedite my original AP application and I should have it in a couple of days. Does anyone have a number to call to check the status on the AP? I just want to make sure the guy at the Immigration office where I had my infopass appointment is telling me the truth. Thanks

  5. Hi everyone! I received the unfortunate phone call last night from my mother advising me that my Great Aunt is not doing so well and they project that she is living her last days. Just a little background, my father's mother passed away when he was 12 and my Great Aunt raised him from then on so she is pretty much a grandmother to me. I called my lawyer this morning (I know I have a lawyer) and she advised me that I have to obtain a letter from my Great Aunt's doctor explaining her situation and take that letter along with all my other documentation (as my AP application is in process) and make an infopass appointment. My mother is in the process of obtaining the doctor's letter for me right now and I have booked an infopass appointment for tomorrow. I was just wondering if anyone has been successful in obtaining emergency AP? Any advice or tips would be great. Thanks

I did get emergency AP at the District Office.

I'd make an infopass now, if you think you can get the documentation you require in time for the appointment.

You might need to have some proof of relationship and (don't ask me how to provide this) proof that she is/was a surrogate grandmother to you. Under normal circumstances, they only provide emergency advance parole for IMMEDIATE family members. A great aunt is not generally considered immediate family.

I originally made the infopass to get AP to see my brother (who was in ICU) and my cousin (who was in the end stages of cancer). By the time I got to the appointment, my cousin had passed away. At the infopass, I mentioned - just to explain the situation - that I originally was wanting the AP because my cousin was very ill, but had subsequently died, and my brother was very ill in ICU as well. The IO interrupted me and said - a cousin is not close enough family. But, since I had my brother in ICU, and with a letter from his doctor, I was able to get immediate AP.

I had to fill out a new I-131 form (fortunately I had taken a copy of my original submission to copy from). Take 2 photos with you when you go to the infopass. I did not know to do this and they sent me out to get some.

    Good Luck!

Thank you for the information. I have already booked my appointment for tomorrow morning. My mother is also going to include a letter from her and my father explaining that she is a surrogate grandmother to me. I was planning on bringing my original with me and my lawyer did advise me to bring passport pictures (which I will get today). Did you have to pay the fee again? My lawyer wasn't sure if they are going to make me pay the fee again. Thanks again and sorry to hear about your cousin.

  7. Like everyone else I have my good days and bad days. I have been fortunate that since I have moved here (end of July) I have had my Mom, sister, niece and best friend come for visits so I have been busy but I felt even more homesick after they left! The one thing I miss and I know will come in time is the confidence I had back home driving around and knowing how to get around. I went from living in a sub-division with my neighbours a rock throw away to living in the middle of nowhere (I am in CT now). I only know my husbands friends (but he hasn't even lived in CT that long so he only has a handful of friends) and I miss having friends around all the time and going out and socializing! I am hoping that once I start working I will be able to meet more people and get my socializing fix! I also think that the fact that we know we can't go home to visit makes it harder, I am hoping once I get my AP and go home I will be good for a little bit. Theres my vent for now!

  8. I think i have one of those cases that they dont update the website. My Wife is Canadian and its a very simple K1 case - but no touches since the biometrics on Oct 5. I would have assumed there would have at least been a touch in those 4 weeks but nothing.

Most others are ahead of me in terms of progress

Also - our case is still at the MSC/NBC

I am in the same boat as you ... my case hasn't been touched since my biometrics as well!

  9. good day! vj has been a very good site and i be wanna be part of it...i just really dont know how to include myself in your AOS monitoring..can i be part of it? here are my details...

    @anxiouslywaiting: i added u too, hope u dnt mind.. ;)

    goodluck all..

not at all thanks for thinking of me!

  10. Chances are you WILL have the AP by then. If not, you will be able to change your flights with the airline. How expensive that is depends on the airline. We are thinking of just booking our tickets as well, because the difference in what we will pay for the tickets if we don't book until two weeks before Christmas may be more than we would be charged to change the tickets. For now, we are waiting to book because we really SHOULD have the AP at least approved by the third week in November (three months after we filed). *Bites nails.....*

We booked our flights weeks ago because they were really cheap. We just figured if I don't get it in time we will just cancel the flights and get a credit from the airline (Air Canada) and use it another time. I really hope I get it in time, I was actually hoping to get it earlier so that I could go home for a quick visit as I won't be able to see everyone at Christmas!

  11. The VJ estimates tend to be a little bit on the pessimistic side. Reason: they depend on averages from people's timelines. Not everyone updates their timeline. I am getting nervous about my husband's AP, too. My timeline is saying December 1-16 where it used to say November 7-23! We need to book our flights to Calgary for Christmas before December 16 or we'll be paying ridiculous air fare for them (err, you know, I mean, even more ridiculous). I keep trying to remind myself I got my NOA2 for his K1 a month earlier than my timeline was predicting.

I feel your pain, my timeline is saying that I will get my AP between December 13 and December 28 and we have already bought our plane tickets home (we leave December 23). What am I going to do if I don't get my AP in time? Do I have any options or am I just going to have to cancel my flight?

  12. Let me this praise Dr. Arnold for a minute. I called them on Thursday August 21 (lady answered right away, didn't have to leave a message), sent the information and a $20 cheque out that today for next day delivery. I received my package back from them on Wednesday. I called them on Wednesday just to make sure they received my package and the lady advised they received in on Friday and put it in the mail priority post on Monday! I would highly recommend them to anyone! They are fast and not expensive! If I had found a CS here (which I didn't) that would've done it for me I don't think I would've had an appointment in the time it took me to mail and receive the information from Dr. Arnold! I highly recommend him to anyone!

  13. I am getting so frustrated, every CS in my area in Connecticut won't just transfer the information to the I-693, they are advising me that I have to have another full physical. I am so frustrated I don't know what to do. I try explaining it to them but they just say I have to have a physical. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Call Dr Arnold. (See first page)

I just did! The lady was super nice. I am going to mail everything to them today! I can't believe the doctors here in CT ... brutal! They didn't even know what I was talking about. I actually spoke to one doctor this morning, he was so mean and rude! Thank god for this website or I don't know what I would do!

  14. I can't seem to log in online. Is anyone else having any problems assessing the online services. I created an account the other week but ever since I can't even pull up the page to sign in! Any help would be appreciate. Also when I called the interstate office I had to leave a message and it took them over a week to call me back! I really hope I am approved for EI, we still have applied for AOS as we are waiting on the doctor to complete my vaccination supplement so from the looks of it I won't be working unitil December if I'm lucky!

  15. ok i am trying to upload pictures from our wedding but it doesn't seem to be working, can anyone tell me how to do it? thanks

Do you have a photo sharing account on-line? A lot of people here use photobucket. You can upload your pictures from your computer on-line and then copy them here. If you don't have an account, it would be a great idea to have one. Let me know if you need further instructions.

I don't know how to get picture off the camera. I know to plug the cord into the camera and it starts doing it on it's own but I don't know how to put those pictures into a file.

They probably download to a file on your computer if it's "doing it on it's own". Look for a file, maybe dated, I doubt it would be named, in your "documents folder, subfolder Pictures". If they're in there, you can do as I suggested above and get a photo sharing account. See if they are in that folder.

I don't have a photo sharing account however all my pictures our on my computer. When I tried to upload them it kept saying I didn't pick a file to upload. So confused!

  16. ok i got the questionnaire in the mail and it is asking for my visa number, what exactly is my visa number? I have look at my visa and the I94 and I have no idea what number they are looking for. If anyone could help me that would be great!

  17. I didn't get either stamp, employment authorized or unauthorized however when I spoke to my lawyer right after I got settled she advised me that they should've stamped me employment authorized. She is now in the process of getting a hold of a friend of her's at a nearby airport to make an appointment with me to go and have him stamp my form employment authorized. According to her I need it. So I have no idea. She told me that I might have a problem obtaining a SSN without the stamp so I"m confused.
