  1. I have sponsored parents of my fiance to come to the US on B-2 tourist visa. They haven't gone for an interview yet.

I am going to withdraw my fiance visa petition (K-1) as we are not going to pursue our relationship further.

I also want to make sure that his parents would not be able to use my supporting documentation to enter the US on a visitor's visa as they become my responsibility if they do enter.

Is there a way I can withdraw my documentation/affidavit of support I-134 for them? What else can I do to make sure they won't misuse my paperwork?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ONN,

Did you do withdraw successfully? How? Can you please let me know? Urgent.

    Thank you,

    .

    Congratulation! We are still waiting.

  3. I-130 were approved last week. I do not know when they can get I-485 approval. Hopefully soon.

Some times, interview case is faster than transfer to CSC.

Congrats! didn't know their I-130 were approved. Now, its only a matter of getting their I-485 approved and those usually are approved within the same time-frame.

If the online case status hasn't changed then wait for about a week or so and see if you get approvals in the mail.

have you recieved I-130 approval notices in the postal mail? If so, what does it say?

We only got email to say I-130 approved. Not get letter yet.

Their GCs were approved and the cards were ordered today. I think you will get your parents' cards soon.

  4. Great news! Congratulation!

My parents's case were transfered to California, we have to wait.

    Thanks!.

Am hoping your parents' case will move forward quickly. CSC is backed-up for couple of months so there maybe 2-3 months waiting time.

Look for other times of parents' cases that have been transferred to CSC.

  5. Parents AOS Interview - GC approved...

The Tampa office is located on West Cypress Street. Arrived about 30 min earlier and they had plenty of parking space.

My parents were interviewed together even though they both had separate interview slots.

After we 3 were sworn-in, we sat down with the IO for about 15 minutes.

    Qs asked to my parents:

    1. What is your name?

    2. State your DOB(Date of Birth).

    3. State your parents name.

    4. State your current address.

    5. Four or Five questions from the I-485 form.

    6. How many kids do you have? Where do they live?

    7. Asked for birth certificate(NABC) and affidavits.

    8. Asked for passports.

    Qs for me:

    1. How many siblings I had? Where do they live?

    2. Asked for my birth certificate and affidavits. [i volunteered to show my U.S passport(the IO briefly glanced it) ]

    3. State my DOB.

    4. Any additional documents to prove parent-child relationship [ I told IO that all the evidence I had was submitted along with the application ]

Overall, the interview process was smooth. The IO was stern all along the while but the IO paid special attention to the birth certifications(NABC) and the affidavits we submitted.

The IO stamped my parents passport with temporary I-551 stamp that's valid for a year.

Any other questions? please post them here and I'll reply back...

  6. I have filed for parents in April. I know on USCIS's website it says 5 months so I still have time before I start complaining. But wanted to know if California Service Center has slowed down. Few months back, I was saw them approving cases within 30-50 day window....

    Anyone have any info?

Yes they have slowed down a lot. back in march they were approving I-130's for parents in under 30 days. Sorry you have had to wait a lot longer than some of us.

    Hi,

So how long we should wait now. My parents' cases just transfered to CSC last week, when should I expect to have GC on hand?

    Thanks

  7. My parents's case was transfered to California, (they are in US now), what does it mean?

Does it mean they will get GC approval without interview? I know it happened on married couple.

    Thanks

Congrats! ..am still waiting on my parents case to be moved to CSC.

Most likely they will be approved without an interview!

    Thank you Second Stage.

We are waiting for I-131 now.

  9. I got Bio appointment letter today, it is only for I-485 as we did not apply for I-765.

Is it possible that my parents apply I-765 now? Will USCIS ask them do Bio again? I know Second Stage's parents applied it and could have chances apply SSN.

You can still apply for I-765 and Bio is valid for 12-15 months so your parents will not be asked to re-take their Bio again.

    Second Stage,

Your parents went early walk-in Bio, did they ask you some questions about it?

I am thinking to take my parents to there earlier than the appointments as well.

    Thanks,

  11. Thank you all for all the comments and responses.

Like all of you said since I was 18 I had a choice. You're right. I could have chosen to stay in Brazil with my relatives but I didn't. I followed my parents back here. We all entered with a visitor's visa and overstayed.

Staying in Brazil by myself to me seemed the worst thing I could think. Did I know it was wrong? Yes I did. so today I live the consequences.

Like I said in the beginning, I get said sometimes because of not being able to legalize my status here. That's all.

Uscandal and many others don't appreciate people breaking the law of this country. I don't either. I don't agree or do I condone any types of crimes including illegal immigration a crime.

I can't change the past but I'm trying to take the right steps in the present. Like I said, my mother has applied for me and here I wait for my priority Date to come up.

I may have to wait a little longer than Uscandal but my hope lives that one day it will happen.

Meanwhile I take care of my family and live each day trusting in God.

Anyway, can someone please answer my original question.

    Thank you!!!

To be with your family, and try to get your legal status. This is the most important. If your wife is an american, you may get it done quickly.

Wish you the best of luck.

I did add my parents' timeline, I am not sure if it works.

    I received NOA's yesterday.

  13. Updated information on my VJ aquaintance~~

He is moving near the end of this month and wants help doing an address change with USCIS. I've read alot of problems of people who changed their address only to have their mail sent to the old place anyway.

If anyone has changed their address by various ways, would you mind commenting on suggested ways to do it. How would one verify the change has been made? I'm wondering with EAD going one way and AOS going a different place, is it possible to assure his mail won't go the the old apartment and he suspected landlord? I believe his wife (sponsor on I-864) is also required to complete an address change of her own.

    [/

Change address right away, may find a PO Box.

For finding a lawyer, be careful, there are many lawyers are not qualify and cheating on you. Shop around and then make decision.

  15. I sent my parents' AOS package on May 29 by Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation, but from USPS tracking system:

    Detailed Results:

    Refused, May 31, 2009, 11:34 am, CHICAGO, IL 60680

    Delivered, May 31, 2009, 11:34 am, CHICAGO, IL 60680

Arrival at Unit, May 31, 2009, 11:02 am, CHICAGO, IL 60680

Processed through Sort Facility, May 30, 2009, 1:30 pm, ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL 60007

I went postal office again, they told me there was an typing error. My mail was in "Firm Book", which means there were many application mails were deliveried at the same time, no way to refuse my package.

Is there anyone here has the same information as mine?

    USPA is saying:

Your item was refused by the addressee at 11:34 AM on May 31, 2009 in CHICAGO, IL 60680 and is being returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

Untill now, I have got any returned mail yet. What do you think?

    Thanks,

  16. Hi All,

I'm scheduled to go to my interview tomorrow for the N-400 application.

About 6 years ago, I was charged with a misdemeanor. The charge was "public intoxication" ... and I fully regret being an irresponsible college student.

Luckily for me, the charges were dropped, on condition that I attend a class for a bounced check that I never took care of. (The charge was called "Theft by check"). I attended the class, paid any/all fines...and that's the end of my brush with the law.

On my N-400 application, I answered truthfully about these details, and provided the necessary court documents showing the outcome of these charges.

Although I know that certain types of crimes (drug felonies, homicide, aggravated assault etc...) automatically eliminate your chances of being approved for naturalization...I can't help but feel worried and afraid. I have prepared for my civics test, English is my native language and I believe the rest of my application is strong.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Or can you share your interview experience with me, if you also have a black mark on your criminal background?

I know a college professor who was granted citizenship despite having 3 DUI/DWI charges. Should this give me hope?

    Thanks :(

  17. Hi Everyone! Its me and I guess I am back on here for a bit. Feeling quite discouraged at the moment, I am worried i wont get my papers in time for my family reunion. I figured that 9 months would be enough time. But man....Sorry for the venting i have tried VERY hard to be patient but I am almost at a breaking point.

I havent seen my family in 15 yrs, and now because of an overstay (and please dont judge, you don't know what I have gone through) i wont be able to go till i have the Green Card (or stamp). SO SAD about all this. especially since 2 of the RFE's weren't even necassary according to thier (USCIS) instructions.... :(

I think you still can ask expedite your AP. Talk to THE HIGHER LEVEL person in USCIS.

  18. That is good news steph. Hope you hear something soon.

A good news for me and my daughter.

My daughter and I had interview today. My daughter' and my interview time were 1 hour difference, but we were called in at the same time. We were approved!

It was painless and no stress at all.

The lady officer just went through the information which we put in the application and petition, my occupation (I was holding a working visa and sponsor myself and my daughter), my daughter's school, asked my husband about my parents' name, etc. She did not ask our marriage cert. even. We offered her if you need some pictures and any evidence of our relationship, she said "yes, please".

She then told us, you got approved and welcome to the America. We thanked her and then asked her if we can get I-1551 since I need to have oversea business travel, she said no problem. (My boss sent me to Canada for a business meeting tomorrow, I can go Canada now!)

I think she already had an idea if she approved our case before the interview.

Everyone who is still waiting, do not worry, you will be fine. Good news is coming to you soon.

    Thanks you all

    Congrats!!!!

    Thank you Chris,
