Hi everyone! 😊
Sorry if this isn’t strictly a US immigration question, but there are so many knowledgeable people here and I wanted to pick your brains.
My aunt lived in Japan many years ago and voluntarily left after overstaying because she had a petition pending here in the U.S. There was no formal deportation order. That was about 18 years ago. She’s now a US citizen and planning to travel with my family (my mom, cousins, and me).
We’re just trying to figure out whether she would actually be allowed entry as a tourist. Has anyone had experience returning to Japan after a long overstay? Any personal experiences or advice would be super appreciated — we want to avoid spending money on a trip if it might not be possible. Thank you.
