My husband (US citizen) and I (French citizen) are planning a move to the US due to his job, and I’ll need to apply for a green card. We’re hoping to pursue Direct Consular Filing (DCF) via the US embassy in Stockholm (where we both live) to speed things up.
Our situation:
My husband has a new role within his existing company that requires relocation to the US.
His employer is relatively flexible but expects us to relocate within 6 months.
We’re trying to understand if this kind of timeline (i.e. a required move within ~6 months) is considered urgent enough for DCF to be accepted.
Has anyone had success getting DCF approved from Sweden or elsewhere under similar circumstances? If so:
How long was the relocation window in your case?
Did the embassy require very short notice (e.g. 2–3 months), or was ~6 months sufficient?
Any tips on how the employer’s offer letter or contract should be worded to make the urgency clear and meet DCF standards?
Would appreciate any advice or examples!
