Hi everyone, I’m a Nepali citizen living in Japan. My mom (a U.S. green card holder) filed an F2B petition for me in 2024, and it’s still pending.
Now I’m confused between two options:
Becoming a Japanese citizen
Getting Permanent Residency (PR) in Japan
If I naturalize, I’ll update my records with USCIS and NVC. But will this cause problems during the U.S. visa interview? Will the officer doubt my intent to live in the U.S.?
Also — does just having PR in Japan (while staying Nepali) also affect F2B in any way?
If either of these could impact the green card process, how should I prepare to avoid issues?
