  1. Just wanted to let all of the people going to interviews in Brasil that the forms on the embassy website are outdated. We had to redo all of our forms and use the ones directly from the state department. Thankfully we found out before getting NOA2 and scheduling our interview--still waiting nearly 4 months later for them to acknowlege us and put our case online. So my advice is to download the forms from the state department and not the consulate website.

    Hey Menina,

How did you know that? Where do I get this info?

By the way, is the state department website the USCIS one?

    Thanks!

    Lu

I just googled the US Department of State visa forms, but I think you can get the forms from USCIS. I was just having trouble opening them with my browser. I only found out that the forms on the consulate website are oudated because I couldn´t get one to open, so I went to the state department to download it from there. When I saw the updated forms, I checked all of my forms and found that most of them had an expiration date that had already passed. I redid all of them with the new forms and noticed that some say at the bottom that previous editions are obsolete. I found out by chance. There was no notification anywhere. Sometimes they accept previous editions, but as I said, there were some that stated they were not acceptable.

Although these documents have expiration dates on them, the embassy in Rio accepts them..so dont panic if you did expired ones. Also the police papers technically expire 3 months from the date they are issued... but the Rio embassy will accept until they are 1 year old.

We failed to receive packet 4 from the embassy, so we submitted the "expired" ones from the website with no problem.

  2. Update: I just received another email from CRIS. the new status of my AOS is "Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident." This is good news to all march who have transferred their application to CSC.

im just wondering if i could still have my ead and ap..

    Excellent news for you! Congratulations!

You'll probably receive your EAD and AP... but once that GC arrives (and it sounds like you will receive it soon) they will become obsolete. Kinda suxs since we paid for those! heh

  3. Hi every1.

Im looking at my rejected AOS from a K1 visa and i really dont understand what they want.

I gave $1010 in one cheque and all th forms. The reason on the rejection noticeis that i need to include either my I130, or I360 Or I797.

Just so i can clarify..as im going from a k1 visa i dont need the 1st two. I needed to include a copy of my approval notice of when i got my K1 visa peition right, which I did.

Thing is I would understand (be frustrated) if they just missed it out but theyve even marked the noa2!!

Im so confused. My husband seems to think that theyre not asking for the NOA2 from the K1 peition approval as its expired and i need to send one of the other forms...

what shall i do? we got married within the 90 day period and i ticked on the i485 that i entered as a k1 visa holder...

    any suggestion??? :crying:

hmm.. possibly.... so what exactly did RFE say?

  5. Grats!

Vera & I just got our Rio interview date! Evidently Rio consolidates packet 3 & 4 into just 1 packet (packet 4)... and pre-selects interview dates :o Rio received case Friday and sent packet 4 the following Monday.

That's great to know! If we ever actually get our NOA-2 that is... So they just give you a date? And I know that this question is probably answered somewhere else on VJ, but what is exactly in the packet? We're trying to be as prepared as possible... I'd love my noivo to experience his first real Thanksgiving with my family, so the more prepared we are the better off we'll be! Thanks!

Packet was mailed to Vera on the 22nd, but she didn't receive yet. She is traveling to her home state atm to collect police certificates. Called the DOS and they had interview date for us and they informed us that packet4 was sent.

If u haven't collected police certificates now, do so... although the certificates are valid for only 3 months the Rio consul will accept to 1 year after issue date. Also have the signatures on the certificates notarized.

I assume packet 4 contains all material here:

    http://www.embaixadaamericana.org.br/index...amp;itemmenu=58

minus the DS-156 (u must fill form online then print)

  8. its just hit me about the security checks and name check. all my life i have put the hyphen in my surname, but many official documents i have like my birthcertificate and my passport dont have it they have my surname as it should be but not got the - in it. i put the - in my name like i always have cos i was taught it as a child. though apprently now my dad says the correct way is without the - .do you think that would be a problem. oh god what they havn't cleared my name yet? i was so confident i would instantly cos its a unique name and unless i'm closely related to tham or someone nicked it. there shouldn't be anyone else with that surname.

Ahh dont sweat it... Vera has 2 surnames too. A hyphen wont matter. Take a deep breath, relax. your golden!
