  1. Hello All,

At 3:30 PM Bangkok time, Joy recieved her K-1 Visa. Thank you all to those who listened. Now begins a new Journey of Marriage and a new life. This was the most difficult thing I have every done. I have lived through tragedy and death but the not knowing for such a long time was the hardest part. Now I have a new lease on life and I intend on making the best of it.

  2. A question for you learned people. When last I wrote I was headed to Thailand to see my fiancee who had decided she did not want to follow through with the K-1 visa. While there I extended my trip an extra week and after a few hassles with papers the Amphur's office wanted we got married. I know how difficult it is to get a tourist visa and probably even harder now that we are married as the will probably think she will come here to stay illegally on that visa. But I do want her to come here and meet my parents, grandkids, my kids, etc.

So any suggestions on any other kind of visa I can get to get her here for 30 days or so other than a K-3 now? I'd hate to go through all that process just to get her here for about a month only and then go back to Thailand. I still plan to move there in 2-3 years when I retire again. And yes, I wish she would have agreed to finish the fiancee visa, come here for 4-5 months and then she could have gone back to Thailand. But that's not an option now that we are married.

    Thanks!!

I would move forward with the K3. You never know when you might want to go back even if it's a for short time. Health benefits or a relative getting sick. Yes it will take you quite a while but I would think you would want her to travel back and forth with you should you need to return.

  3. i need a little help, so i have finally compiled the aos papers, gotten through the medical exam hurdle etc. turns out my husband threw out the copies of the birth certificate translation and the copies of the papers from the visa so no copy there. anyone know a reasonable translator for thai docs preferably nor cal? least expensive quote i got was $150+notary and delivery fees (not local). i am trying to track down the lady in thailand who did the original but haven't heard back. *sigh* a bit annoyed w/ hubby right now

I use these folks for writing letters in Thai. Just write them at info@thaienglish.com. $.05 per word. If it's legal documents it may be a little more expensive. They are very nice people to work with.

  4. Hi, I am new to this web site. What does NOA and NVC mean? I just got back from Thailand a week ago and am starting the K1 process. I met my TG in July 2008 (e-mail & telephone) and met her in person during my two week trip (Aug - Sep 2008). Will immigration look negatively about the short relationship? I know it says you have to only meet one time in two years. I have pictures and kept my boarding passes for proof. She had applied for a student VISA and was denied in Aug 2008. Will they hold that against her? How long is the process? Thanks for any information.

It's a long process and one that I am not sucessful at yet. My fiance is waiting to hear from the embassy early next week. You can read my story if you click on my name. If your in a rush and don't want to make serious mistakes I advise using an attorney. If you not in a big rush then it's really not hard to do yourself. Here is the website with most of the information. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_2994.html If she was married she'll need her divource decree and you will need yours. Many people here can help you. I do recommend one thing regardless of what anyone tells you. Go to the interview with her. Keep in touch and good luck. Right now the longest wait is the clearance from the uscis in California. Ous took 5 months to get approved. If you live closer to the east cost it will take you less as you will use Vermont. Good Luck. Please update your timeline. It will helps eveyone to have hope.

  5. I just wanted to update the list on the latest...... My fiance just received a call from the embassy, they told her to return to the embassy on friday and to bring all the proof of relationship documents back with her. So hear we go again. I wil keep everyone updated as things unfold .cross your fingers for us...thanks

Goodluck Hilton. My fiance was told they would contact her in three weeks which is coming up this Tuesday. Let me know what happens.

I just want to say thanks, and to give the list a further update... My Fiance was asked to return she was interview for over 2 hours... the main focus was where she worked over 2 years ago. she said they were very nice and polite about everything they had her write a statement about what she told them was true.. when the interview concluded they gave her the standard paper wth OTHER checked and administrative processing below that, gave her passport back and told her when they call her back in to bring that paper. They did not give a time line on when they would call her. so... thats the short and skeinney of it all to this point.... still in the holding pattern.

My Fiance had two interviews. THey kept her passport on the second one and told her they would contact her in three weeks. I intend on going to the embassy to talk to the consular. Bald man. It seems that he has done this with several candidates. I think a personal visit may help. I want them to understand how much I love my fiancee and to please grant her a Visa so we can start a new life. I too will keep you posted.

  7. Good Morning

Well I received a phone call from my congresswoman this morning. She made contact with the embassy on friday this was her secound inquiry with them. She told me not to expect much but it couldn;t hurt. I was told that the embassy informed her that our case is still in admin review however they did not require any further information from my fiance

or myself and that they could not give a time for the completion of the admin review. I hope the fact that they kept her passport and the fact they require nothing else from us means that it might be something as simple as a name check, because she has a common Thai last name, I've heard that this can produce "false hits" of which they (the embassy) is required to look into. Sooo... a little bit of info is better than nothing. I'll keep everyone informed.

    Birch/Beer

Please keep us informed as to what you incounter when you arrive at BKK. because if I don't hear something in a week or so I'm planning on heading over there around the 23rd of Sept. Thanks and good luck

I have a question. Do they have your fiancee's passport all this time? Or did they return it to her.

I'm in the same boat as you. I had posted my issues a while back. Well, my case is on AP for almost 6 months now...Sep 12th will be exact. I already had my congresswoman notified the embassy twice and still got same reply. I had email the embassy 7 to 8 times as well and still the same. Hopefully, I will hear something from them soon.

  8. I'm looking for anyone out there where there Visa was not denied by an embassy but instead put on administrative review. Not with the NVC but with the embassy itself. My Fiance interviewed on August 27th and they gave her a paper that said Administrative Review. They would be in touch. Anyone else out there in the same boat?

FINALLY you post this question in here after I mentioned this sawasdee thread to you like a zillion times haha

The message board is confusing. While i was thinking I was adding a new topic to the Sawasdee board I instead was creating a new topic. On another note, I notice your fiance received her Visa in July. What happened after that?

They didn't ask for anything, only that they would be in touch with her. When she asked how long they said they did not know.

No, they gave her a paper with multiple items that could be checked. Everything we needed was there. The last box "other" was checked and the words administrative review wriitten in. They told my fiancee they would contact her.

  12. I think the fact that we filed just after Christmas is working on our favor. Too many people busy with the Holidays and not many filings through January. We received our letter from the NVC and now we need to file packet 3 and schedule the Doctor and Police. Attorney we are using says the wait for interview is about 30 to 45 days. Anyone have experience on how long they are waiting for the interview date?
