I mailed my PP application by regular on 4/4 and no check cashed yet. Is that normal?

If I remember correctly, they cashed a couple of days after I received the passport.

I guess that the dept. of State doesn't need the money that much.

Also my application didn't even show up in their passport application tracking system at all.

why do you have to update your info at SSA? Just curious as to what difference it makes to you being an immigrant or citizen?

Some of benefits are limited to US citizen, and some have different between LPR and US citizen.

Also a lot of systems from different government agency cross-check with SSA for individual's immigration status.

For an example, some of local police, voting system, and/or DMV.

Also when you need to update/renew your driver license, you may have to bring the certificate of naturalization, or US passport.

Don't forget to update I-9 for your employer, too.

For US passport, it took 6 days with regular service in November, 2008.

Since it is approaching to summer vacation, it will be slow for overloading with request for summer vacation.

Hi, Thanks for that. The ceremony lasted only 30 minutes to 1 hour as we had to wait for those who were late due to rain today. Otherwise the ceremony was very efficient and very professional. We took many pictures today )) Only picture cameras were allowed and NO video cameras.

I had my oath today and got my certificate. Very professional ceremony and happy that the journey is over.

I had my interview. Its approved and I am scheduled for Oath on Friday at 11 AM. Got the letter same day.

The interview was pretty straight forward with mostly going over the application and the 6 questions were asked from the new test.

The IO was very professional.

Just 2 question to forum members done with their Oath...

1. What we need to bring in addition to Permanent resident card and the oath letter on the oath day???

2. How early we have to report for the oath?

What I have read on other posts about the issue of name change during the interview is, in that case, they have to take oath in front of judge.

Congratulations to everyone on their approvals and oath ceremonies.

Do you think that some have to wait if they choose to do a name change and notify them at the interview? Just a thought.

Sorry to hear that. I am under the impression that generally before the interview all the checks are done and completed and then interview letter arrives...Not heard of somthing like that before.

May be other members might give some input.

Our officer asked him about his job and where he worked. She also asked him if we had bought a house together. His file was about 4 inches thick he said. He told her that we had and she looked for that papers and it was in the file. she said that is good. and he asked her if she wanted the originals that we had to bring. the only thing she looked at was my divorce papers from my ex husband, which was already in the file. She asked about the taxes, as we have not done this years yet, he told her that. She stated that was okay, that they had the last 3 years that we submitted. Other than that, she didnt ask for anything more than what we submitted. Of course we sent a lot of stuff, hoping that it would help and i guess it did.

Good news from the Baltimore DO... My wife had her interview, was approved and took her oath this afternoon. We are DONE.

The day got off to a slow start... We arrived at the DO about a 1/2 hour early, but as it turned out they were running about 1.5 hours behind schedule. From the look of the waiting room they were not THAT busy, but such is life.

The interview itself was straightforward. They asked my wife 6 questions from a pre-printed list of 10, had her read and write a sentence, went over the information from the N-400 and told her she had been approved. The Officer gave her a "recommended for approval" form letter, a letter telling her to return for the oath ceremony that afternoon and also had her sign the front of one of her pictures (which later showed up on her Naturalization Certificate).

The ceremony was straightforward as well. A group of 38 participants (+ various family members) were brought to a large conference room that had been designated for that purpose. An Officer went over the packet of information that had been provided, said a few words and then handed proceedings over to an attending USCIS Supervisor. She said a few words, played the anthem, and then had the participants recite the oath and everyone recite the pledge of allegiance.

Afterwards the they handed out the Naturalization Certificates and everyone took pictures.

FWIW, the Officer told my wife that the Baltimore DO was conducting same-day oath ceremonies for people who have their interviews M-TH (and who are approved, of course).
