  1. We didn't submit affidavits either. We submitted financial records (insurance, tax, loans) and birth certificate of our daughter. I don't think you can beat birth certificate though. But then again, the application is still pending, so knock on wood.

We have not submitted affidevits because our lawer told us that there is no need. I followed his directions because if you do immigration law for 20 years, you have to know something in the craft. Seams that financial comminglig is way more important. If you have other proof-I would not bother.

We didn't do affidavits. We were told by friends on here that they are only needed if there isn't any other good evidence to submit.

    hi Honeyblonde,

did you find out yet if you were approved? thanks for your help!

  2. Hey, can we get an update with your situations?

I am going through similar experience. But I called the OSC number and the person was very helpful. He told me to have the employer call the number. And if they still refuse to take the NOA letter, I can file a formal complain. I am expecting a callback from the employer any moment now.

After that happened at Social Security office I had Gavin call the Office of Special Counsel. They were no help at all and didn't care about either the Sears situation OR the Social Security card.

    This is very frustrating

  3. Congratulations!!!

It seems like I am going through similar timeline as you did. I mailed my papers to Nebraska but the responses indicated it was coming from California. In fact, I filed mine about a week after you did (NOA receipt was 02/22) so I am hoping that any day now I'd get my approval email.

I desperately need the card too, to accept a job offer. I tried to get an I-551 stamp but the immigration officer turned me away. She provided me with an 1-800 number for the employer to call. She said the the employer must accept the expired greencard and the NOA as proof of employment eligibility. I asked her if this is by law and she said yes. The immigration office should really hire more qualified people.

Checked the USCIS website today just for jollies....didn't expect to find anything new. Much to my surprise, I got the message that my wife's card had been ordered and that she should receive it within 30 days.

It's been less that three months since we applied. Thankfully, we were one of the lucky ones.

  4. eau_xplain,

My deepest respect and gratitude. I hope the best for you. I have everything set for my InfoPass appt this Friday. Your advice seems foolproof to me. I should be able to get the I-551 stamped on an I-94 and then an unrestricted SS. Then I-9 should be satisfied. The weakest link I see is the fact that my NOA is not about to expire. But I believe that if I explain my situation, Immigration should provide the stamp. Wish me luck!

I will report back my experience Friday afternoon.

    Thank you again,

    Simon

Yes, it's a new I-94. As to the photo size, I would follow the photo requirements on the I-485 form.
  5. I need the stamp to get an unrestricted social security card to satisfy an I-9. My country's regulations require that I renew in person because my passport has already expired.

    All,

I need to get an I-551 stamp while waiting for approval for my I-751 application (Feb 22 2008 receipt date against the CSC office). Unfortunately, my passport has long expired and my nearest country's consulate is close to 200 miles away. I have read some posts that Immigration can stamp I-551 on an I-94. I have also read that Immigration will not stamp I-551 until the NOA extension (that extends the greencard for one year) gets closer. My question is, which of these is true? What I-94 should I bring to my InfoPass interview? I have some old I-94 from my H-1B days, should I bring those?

    Thank you,

    Simon

What is it that you need the I-551 stamp for???

Have you checked about mailing your passport for renewal?? Kez did hers by mail...
