  1. So far I found that I can process a IR Visa through the I-130. I wonder if there is a quicker way... How long does the IR process take?

Contact the embassy, they can help. I have a friend who's ex wife was killed in a road accident and his 2 children were left alone, the embassy were able to get a advanced parole entry papers for the children so they could go to the US with their father and process the paperwork from there.

I dont know all the details but I do know that the children arrived with their father 3 weeks later.

Thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

    Good Luck

Thank you for your help. I will try the advanced parole entry papers first. (before the I-30) I will email the embassy tonight.

  2. what's her current status, you should provide futher information to get some guidelines, as per your timeline info, i noticed some infor regarding Mother daughter case completed at NVC back in May 1st 2007.

Please ignore the time line. My step daughter in this thread has never been to the USA. (Her sister is here with mom). We have not started any paperwork yet for my step-daughter in Ukraine. As I said we just found out that her natural father died. We want her to join us in the US. I know that I can start a I-30 but I was wondering if there is a faster way. (since she is a minor with no parents helping her)

  3. i just called NVC and they told me that the supporting documents for the DS230 now have to be sent to NVC and not taken to the interview in bogota. when did this change? did i miss something? i thought the only thing that had to be sent with the DS230 was a copy of my wifes passport.

also, now that i have to ask my wife to get a police report, i asked NVC if she needed one from each city she has lived in, which would be barranquilla and bogota, but the NVC rep told me that she only needed multiple police reports if she has lived in more than one country. if this is so, do the police in colombia give one report that covers the entire country or does she have to goto bogota to get one from there? i'm a liitle confused after thinking i was on top of everything. please clearify, any help is appreciated

    gracias

Yes, I just found out as well for Ukraine. I was told this was a new procedure as of April 1st

  4. NVC says that now only NVC sets the interview for ALL embassies.:help::help::help::help::help:

Hmm....I wonder if this means that all the requirements will be the same then for all interviews at all embassies and if all of us will now have to send in the same stuff you have to send in? Seems a bit risky to send them originals. Do they offer any guarantees you'll get it back?

    You won't get anything back.

  5. I am told that now I need to sent the ORIGINAL birth certificate, Marriage certificate, Police report and divorce decree translated. Copies are not good enough. It must be certified and stamped by the issuer.

I guess I must now wait another couple weeks. This sucks since I have already made plans to travel.

What really sucks is that I will not get the mail from my wife for at least 10-12 days and then I must send it to NVC and they must "get it" so another month is hopfull thinking.

  6. When your fiancee goes to the medical exam try to get a copy of all her shots. The embassy will keep the original record and you may need to have this record later.

Try to give yourself a extra day or 2 for your trip because:

    * The courier service is unreliable

    * I have found that my luggage took a extra day to get to me twice

Have original copies of birth certificates and such because you will need them later and will have a hard time getting them.

    Good Luck

  7. You must turn in the DS-230 at NVC Part 1 is sighned and Part II is included but not signed. You only sign this at the interview.

When you turn in this DS-230 (at NVC) you only include a copy of the passport picture with Name, and details along with the barcode sheet. (That is it!)

At the interview you will need the Police Report and Original Birth Certificate (Packet 3 is a checklist which will tell you what is needed) You must inform you have this checklist completed before the interview is scheduled. Packet 4 is then given which tells you the time and what to bring to the interview.

If you need any more help feel free to e-mail me.

  8. I am looking at all the paperwork and was wondering if its better if I try and do it all or better to hire a service to do the complete k1 visa? I would hate to mess up on something and have it take longer to get my girl here.

If you have the time do the papers yourself. You will probably do better than the service because you have a vested interest. I have seen the "service" fail at their job.

  9. We were married about 60 days after my wife came in the USA under a K-1. I filed for the AOS but my wife left the USA before the interview. (we were struggling in our marriage) I filed for an immagrant visa I-130 last August and all is going ok up to this point. At the interview will my wife need a wavier? She was not deported but we did not notify anyone that she left. I just let the AOS expire.

  10. My understanding is that it is the date of marriage when entering at the POE that matters, so doing CR1 should be fine.
I will be cutting it close on the 2 year mark. If I generate the coversheet (james shortcuts) with a IR1 code rather than a CR1 code will I create a problem? I am hoping that if my wife gets here before the 2 year mark (a month early)she still gets the 10 year green card.

    thoughts?

That is not my question? My question is if I place IR1 on the documents rather than CR1 will I cause any unnecessary delays. The problem is that my wife is pregnant and I will bring her here the moment that the documents are finished. We were married June 5, 2005. I might just miss the 2 year mark.

All other documents were filed under the "conditional code".

  11. Dr. says that due to complications my wife can only travel 2 more months. My documents should be sent to the embassy soon as I am sending in the DS-230 tomorrow. Any thoughts how I can speed up things? Will there be problems with the vaccines? Can I get a cheaper first class ticket for my wife? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
