  1. Hello,

I have a question about the marriage with Ukrainians on K-1 Visa. After the marriage, my wife decided to change her last name to mine. We change all American documents (Social security, state ID, etc) – no problems. However, when I called to Ukrainian consular in Chicago and ask them about changing her foreign Ukrainian passport due to the last name change, I was told that according to Ukrainian law, she is a visitor in USA and our marriage is not valid. The only way for her to change her last name will be us together to go back to Ukraine, get married over there and change Ukrainian internal passport. Only after that she can change Ukrainian foreign passport with different name. Also, in two years her Ukrainian passport is due and needs to be replaced. She will have a green card for different last name. Will it be a problem? Did anyone have similar issue? How is it going to work with traveling back to Ukraine? For what last name should she purchase airfare? Thank you everyone!

  2. Hello everyone.

My fiancee does not have any vaccination record at all. It somehow got lost i clinic in Ukraine and she was not provided a copy. I understand, she would need to have all the vaccinations shots done again. My question is: Is the CS the only doctor who gives these shots or she can obtain these shots anywhere (including local health department or local physicians office) and then get a copy of these shots and send them to Dr. Arnolds office for trinscibe?

    Thank you very much!

I appreciate any help on ths issue

  3. Does anyone know, if completed package3 has to be mailed out to embassy in Kiev before the interview or it can to be brought by fiancée and handled to the interviewer during intervie?

    Thank you for responses

nope, P3 does NOT have to be submitted before the interview...

Thank you! I very appreciate it! That is what I thought at first, but when I looked here

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=k1flow

    step 10 confused me.

Each consulate is different... This might be true for a majority of the consulates but is ONLY a process guide and not exactly what happens 100% of the time.... The consulate website "trumps" all for there own procedures.

    Thanks for your reply!

Also, do you know how they work at Kiev's Embassy? Our interview is scheduled on 9:30 am, and I was told to arrive at 9:00 am. Will it be a long waiting before they will interview or they will do interview on time and by 10 am I will be all set?

    Thanks

They stagger the (groups) of interviews and most likely more than one person has the same time.... I would give yourself 2-3 hrs.

Thanks a lot for your answers!!!!!!!

  6. Hello everyone!

I have a question about medical in Kiev.

My fiancée is 7-months pregnant and she is going on medical to Kiev. Is she going to be X-Rayed? Or there is special procedure for pregnant women?

    I appreciate any response!!!

    Thanks a lot!!!

Hi! Being a doctor i can say they PROBABLY will NOT x-ray your fiancee, as far as procedures, i had a friend in the same situation in late 2006, she reported no problem with the medical they simply noted on the paperwork she was pregnant. and she arrived in the U.S. January 2007 with no problems. will you be a the interview with your fiancee? This couple, both were present at the interview. If you really need specifics i can ask them...but wanted to let you know, with this particular couple there were no problems.

    Dr. Bill and Ekaterina

Thank you very much for your responce!!!!!

She called to clinic to Kiev and she was told by staff that she has to be X-rayed no matter what. They have a shield that is placed on her abdomen as protection during X-ray. So, we decided, not to jeopardize a baby and she would not go for medical at this time. We will wait until after the baby is born.

Yes, I am going to be with her on interview. I scheduled interview on October 16 and we decided she would go for medical one day before the interview.

    Thanks again for your responce!!!!!!!!!

    Dmitriy

Good move. I don't know what clinic or Dr. would say that it's okay to xray a pregnant woman with some type of "shield". It should be her choice if that was the case. My Dentist wouldn't do x-rays when I was pregnant. I don't know why should couldn't have the medical without the x-ray anyway, however I don't know when baby is arriving.

Yes, that is very weird that they X-ray pregnant women. I do not think that shield can give 100% protection. Maybe I am wrong about it, but we both still decided to better off spend a little time waiting when the baby is born vs jeopardize the baby health in rushing.

  8. Hello everyone!

I filed my paperwork for K1 on February 11 2008 and I had my NO1 on February 20 2008. After that, On April 7 2008 I filed on USCIS website the adress change and it was reflected on my portfolio as "Last updated" (I assume it was touched). Since than, I did not have any touches. I see everyone in front of me already has NO2, even some people who filed in March have NO2, but my case still was not touched. Should I start to worry and try to call to CSC or I still should be patient and continue to wait?

Also, if I am not an american born citizen, I am naturalized in USA, should it affect somehow on the waiting time?

  9. I do not even know how to answer your question... What question? Is it not obvious that your reply was very short sighted

Have you ever heard from your fiancee word "ZANUDA"? I think my wife would have an issue if I had a fiancee

Your question in your post #22". Look, I do not see what you are trying to prove here. To me it does not make any difference if you have a wife or fiancée, same as if it was NWA or KLM. The question was asked and I answered it based on MY FLYING EXPERIECE! Not on YOURS! On MINE!!!!!

If I never flu with "BA, Air France, and others" why would I even mention it if I do not know? I answer only what I know. If you consider my reply shortsighted due to the fact that I do not want to say "I have heard anonymous say …" it is your rights to think so. But my rights are to finish this useless discussion with you. Good luck to you!

  10. You probably know that having origin departure in North America you can not purchase airfare directly from KLM due to the partner's agreement between NWA and KLM. It does not make any difference whose crew operates the aircraft. The fact is that airfare is purchased via NWA. However, if you purchase the same tickets only with original departure point at Europe, it will be purchased via KLM

Maybe so that was never the issue ... go back to post #10 and beyond and see what was being said....

Exactly it was not the issue. Please go back to the question "… any idea WHERE we can find cheeper fairs?" Please, notice, the questions was not "WHO is flying cheaper". The questions was "WHERE". In my post #9 I mentioned some websites and some aircraft websites WHERE the tickets can be found. So was my statement wrong???

No... I simply made an add on comment about NWA not being the international carrier out of JFK (even if tickets were purchased on the NWA website) because NWA does not fly internationally out of JFK.

What I did not understand about your post #9 is why you limited the options to AeroSvit, Delta and NWA for service out of JFK. Certainly Lufthansa, BA, Air France, and others are options as well... Certainly a meta search engine would broaden ones possibilities not only for other cities but JFK as well.

I do not even know how to answer your question... Have you ever heard from your fiancee word "ZANUDA"?

  12. I have been telling you for a few posts now that for the USC, nothing is required other than the financial support and relationship evidence.

    RAGS/ZAGS all the same.

    Originally, the statement was

"...that stupid divorce decree here in Indiana is many pages thick! I thought I was going to get a single certified page when I went to the city records to request it, but I was given a stapled stack of pages that the court says was the official divorce decree. And, of course, since I needed a certified copy, every page had to be stamped and certified and it cost me a small fortune!" It does not look the poster was talking about divorce decree from "Ukrainian ZAGS/RAGS all the same". To me it looked like the poster was talking about divorce decree in Indiana. So I asked a question "I am sorry, maybe I misunderstand something... Why do we need to have a certified copies of divorce decree???"

  13. I did not say that NWA flies directly to Kiev. In my previous statement I said they fly to Amsterdam. And then their partner KLM Airlines are used from Amsterdam to Kiev.

    Hmmmm.......

If you depart from New York, you could use Aerosvit, Delta or NWA.

Out of JFK you will not depart on a NWA aircraft for an international flight.

    Please see attachment...

Thank you for proving my point.... Out of JFK you do not depart on an NWA aircraft on an international flight.

  14. You might be surprised but it does. The merge between NWA and Delta is not completed yet. So NWA are still partners with KLM Dutch Airlines. They fly from Detroit and New York to Amsterdam. From Amsterdam to Kiev the KLM Airlines will be used.

As an former NWA emplyee I still stand by my statement... NWA does NOT fly JFK to KBP... however, KLM does but as you mention via AMS... Air France (via CDG), Lufthansa (via FRA), British Airways (Via LHR) all do as well but NOT direct... The only direct flights are AeroSvit and Delta.

I did not say that NWA flies directly to Kiev. In my previous statement I said they fly to Amsterdam. And then their partner KLM Airlines are used from Amsterdam to Kiev.

  15. I read those instructions very carefully, and I did follow everything they say. But I did not find anywhere where they say about certified copies of divorce decree. I do not think that divorce decree must be certified.

    For teh USC, NOT required

    For the applicant,

DIVORCE/DEATH CERTIFICATES: Divorce decree as a proof of the termination of any previous marriage must also be submitted. If the spouse is deceased, a death certificate should be submitted. Divorce decrees must be obtained at the local registrar’s office (RAGS). Court decrees terminating marriage are not acceptable.

You do not think that a court decree obtained from RAGS will not have "certification" stamps?

Wow. I missed this. What is RAGS and where can I find the local office? Is there a website?

Who are you? The USC or the alien?

RAGS is the official agency where Ukrainians have the legal marriage ceremony. There is typically one located in every city.

Acctualy, in Ukraine it called ZAGS. But anyway, I understand it was for the beneficiary, not for the USC.

  17. My fiance is planning to visit me really soon here in Ukraine (YAY  ). Since flight prices has gone up significantly since his last visit in January, any idea where we can find cheeper fairs? Any advice will be appreciated! :innocent:

Well, it depends how you want to fly.

If you want to purchase airfare from Ukraine to USA, you could use Expedia or Travelocity.

But if you want to purchase airfare from USA to Ukraine, it depends what city you want to fly from. If you depart from New York, you could use Aerosvit, Delta or NWA. But if your departure city is Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis, and other cities further from the East coast, it it better to use following websites:

    http://www.fare-shopper.com/

    http://www.aatravelinc.com/

    http://www.nedorogo.com/

    http://www.travelpapa.com/

All these websites are using the same search engine so you do not have to research all of them. The cost is the same on all of them and it is significantly cheaper then other websites.

If your destination in Ukraine is other than Kiev, use aerosvit website for the ukrainian internal flights or you could use autoluks bus:

    http://www.autolux.ua/russian/schedule

    Goodluck

    Dmitriy

NWA does not fly out of JFK to any European destination.... It might be Delta in disguise.

You might be surprised but it does. The merge between NWA and Delta is not completed yet. So NWA are still partners with KLM Dutch Airlines. They fly from Detroit and New York to Amsterdam. From Amsterdam to Kiev the KLM Airlines will be used.

  18. Hello!

I apologize if this has been discussed previously, but searching for the answer has not brought me any success. I have the step-by-step guidelines for the K1 visa process. I am trying to bring my fiance over from Ukraine, and we are in the 'waiting zone' between NOA1 and NOA2. My NOA1 was February 19th, so I know my case has to be getting close to being worked on. (I hope it is!) My question is: Do I need to send to my fiance the replica/copy of the original I29F that was submitted? The guide says to do so, but I am not sure why it is necessary since the original I-29F packet will be waiting at the embassy at the interview time. I know there are many other documents that I need to provide to my fiance, and the weight of this packet to be sent can be reduced greatly if I do not have to include that original paperwork.

I plan on being present for the interview and I had considered not even sending over the documents, but rather take them with me. However, I think I will send them over, anyway, just in case something should happen to my schedule and I am prevented from attending the interview. That way, she would still have the documents necessary to complete the interview process. I am trying to get all documents completed as soon as possible, with only the statement from my bank and my paycheck stubs to gather at the last moment. The timing is such, for us, that I would really like her to be here before the school year starts in mid-August, so I need to make sure there are no delays caused by US. I am confident that Sveta has already gathered almost all of her documents needed. She has applied for the police reports for both her and her 17 year old daughter (neither have ever had legal trouble and have always lived in the same city), and she was informed those should be in within 2 or 3 weeks. The only other document is the notarized statement from her ex-husband that allows her to take their daughter out of the country-and that should happen in the next week or two. I am not even convinced that it is necessary to have this form since she is 17, but we will produce that document, anyway! They both had their physical exams on May 8th. We want to be ready to schedule an interview immediately (if possible) once the approved package has arrived at the embassy in Kiev. We have already downloaded the next packet from the Kiev Embassy website, and filled out and printed the applications and the checklist.

on a different, but related question, do we need to show copies of my birth certificate, marraige license, and divorce decree at the interview? I can send over copies, if needed, but that stupid divorce decree here in Indiana is many pages thick! I thought I was going to get a single certified page when I went to the city records to request it, but I was given a stapled stack of pages that the court says was the official divorce decree. And, of course, since I needed a certified copy, every page had to be stamped and certified and it cost me a small fortune!

thanks, and now back to 'the waiting game'.

I am sorry, maybe I misunderstand something... Why do we need to have a certified copies of devorce decree???

The only information required from the USC for the visa interview is the I-134 and supporting documents and any relationship evidence....

The Embassy website has the information packet available for download and review. It has detailed instructions as to exactly what documents the applicant is required to have. If you follow this checklist there should be no questions or problems.

I read those instructions very carefully, and I did follow everything they say. But I did not find anywhere where they say about certified copies of divorce decree. I do not think that divorce decree must be certified.
