  1. woooohooooooooo finally done, atleast until 2 years for my wife, my son received 10 year green card. received them on saturday. they were probably help up as mail delivery was delayed due to the bad weather here. who knows, doesnt matter, we got them now. the only question i have is.....at the interview we asked if we could changed my wifes last name to mine on the greencard and the lady said yes, but the card came with her last name on it. do you think itll be too much of a hassle to change it, or should we just wait til we do removal of conditions???

  2. had my interview yesterday, it was quick, maybe 10 mins, asked some q's, asked for supporting documentation, took some of our pics, and said thats it. didnt say if approved or not. said expect "something" in the mail "sometime". so we are really confused and a litttle frustrated. seattle office is ridiculous. another filer who had interview yesterday got approved, passport stamped and all yesterday, us.....nothing. also i have had no updates on my i458 since march. i guess we just wait now, atleast theres nothing left for us to do, hopefully.

  3. I received my interview letter. I seriously jumped up and down!!! :)

The date is October 17th at 1pm, right during my state training. I hope my boss will be okay with that.

I hope everyone else will get that precious letter!!

Ps: there was this notice to applicant, "have you ever been convicted of a crime?etc..." along with the notice to appear for initial interview.

congrats, seattle is seriously messed up, i get my IL before you but ID is after. wierd., but still congrats. were almost there

  4. Well my wife and son have nexus for land border crossing at canada-us border. the first time we entered back to the US using AP we had to go inside for about 30min to get evyerthing stamped and stuff, the next time we used nexus just to see what would happen, and the guy said we are allowed to use nexus as long as the papers are stamped. i just wanted to let people know because i was told on this forum previously that they could not ever use the nexus with AP.

  5. for what I know , as soon you get your EAD, you have to go back to SS# to change your status...my advice is go back there and show your EAD card

That advice is incorrect. They won`t change the card wording until she gets her green card.

Uh oh..lol..mass confusion setting in  Do I HAVE to go down to the SS office yet?**smacks self in head** I would hate to go apply for a job and find out I have to have my status updated first(we all know how slow the gov't can be) but I would HATE HATE to go sit there for 3 hours to be told theres nothing to be done yet...

Like you I already had my SSN and it said the same thing. I didn't bother to go to the SSA and I have a job. So I don't think you need to go because it would probably be a waste of time because you aren't going to be filling out any forms and they won't give you a new card.

Thank you so much! you just saved me a much dreaded unnecessary trip!(the last time I was at the SS office..it took FOREVER!!)

i suggest you go to the SS office and update it and tell them you are able to work now. and i do think they will give you a new card that say authorized to work. because some employers want to see the SS card not just the EAD card. you have to update your SS regardless anytime your status or situation changes. when you get EAD, green card, naturalize, i believe you have to update it with them. I may be wrong, but if i was you i would play it safe and make sure to update it with them.

  6. According to my lawyer, USCIS is under a lot of (political) pressure to process several thousand naturalization cases as a priority since this is election year and the pending naturalization candidates are all potential votes. Because of this, other USCIS work will take a lower priority.

The above is the personal opinion of my lawyer - not a general opinion, but I wanted to share this with the rest of the group in case anyone was interested.

thats what im thinkin too, and i bet most of it has to do with the fact that they are pressuring the FBI to complete all the backlogged background and name checks for naturalization and so they are leaving everything else aside and since there not cleared yet no interviews are being scheduled, and even if you have an interview scheduled, seems most people lately have been told there background check has not cleared. i dont see most of us getting interviews til late this year or early next year. i dont really care as long as its before the ead and AP expire. and for those of you that didnt file EAD and AP, its not too late, i would do that if i was u.

  7. thanks for the info everybody. the same day my wife received her EAD she went to the SSN office and applied for it for both my son and herself. they did not tell her anything except that it should come within ten day, if it doesnt come within 2 weeks to call them. would they have told her that her EAD isnt in the system yet if they couldnt process it and if there would be a longer wait? its just that she needs it asap cause she has been offered a job but they arent letting her start until she has the actuall SSN card.

I applied for SSN after i received my EAD, though the SSA employee said that i have to wait 30 days, i got my SSN card on the mail in 10 days .

cool, hopefully we will get ours fast too. so you had no SSN before that.
