  1. Ladies and Gents,

Wanted to inform you that my wife had her interview this morning and her visa is approved. The CO kept her passport, gave original docs back and told her she will receive her visa/passport in 10-15 days via Amex. She got to the embassy around 7Am. The first person was a Pakistani guy asked her a few questions and collected docs:

CO - how tall are you?

    Her - 5'8"

    CO - you sure?

CO - Let me c your husband pictures. Is he as tall or taller?

Her - yes a couple of inches taller and she showed a picture or two

CO - what’s your full name and your husband full name

    Her - xyz

The 2nd person was an American white CO:

CO - how tall are you?

    Her - 5'8"

CO - what is your and your husbands full name data of birth

    Her - xyz

CO - what does your husband do?

    Her - xyz

CO - when was the last time you saw him

    Her - wedding time

CO – ya. you look like a newly wed.

CO - do you belong to any terrorist organization?

Her - do I look like I do?

    They both laughed

CO - congrats your visa is approved, we will keep your passport and send you the visa via AMEX in 10-15 days.

So that was the whole interview no proofs no docs, no bills and she was out by 11am. She said both CO's were very pleasant. Here is her experience outside of her interview:

None of the males were given visa and they were repeatedly interviewed in details. She also noticed candidates’ scrutinized more when their sponsors for AOS were someone other than the petitioner.

I really want to thank everyone here for their help. Would definitely keep up with this site to help others going thru the journey. I deeply wish everyone here gud luck, especially, Aisha, Revived and others suffering from the painful process of AP.

    Thanks

  2. ok quick question, what is the process in the following situation

    1. Male= Canadian resident / has Candadian resident card, and also has Pakistan passport with 5 year United States Visa (multiple entry visa)

    2. Female = US Citizen.

Female visited Canada and they both got married in Canada. He visited US for one week after wedding and went back to Canada (was that oK?)

Now the question, if the female applies for k3 or CR1 for him. Can he visit US while the application is being processed aka I-130 or I-129F.

Thanks in advanced for your replies.

    Of course,

As long as 'male' has valid visa to visit the US. By filing I-130 or other immigration category visa disqualify you to apply for visit visa etc but since male has 5 year multiple visa, there shouldn't be an issue.

Think H-1 visa is only exception while ur immigration application is being processed.

    Thanks

  3. I just want to update everyone that my wife had her interview on July 31, and she received her visa on Aug 11 in Karachi.

The interview was done by a black American guy who mostly verified the information, and asked only two question.

    When did you get married?

How long have you been married?

Also, asked to see the wedding pictures.

    Information he verified was

    Is your name this XYZ

    Is your husband name XYZ

There was no fee charged for the fingerprints. she was at the embassy at 6:30, and was done with everything by 12:00 PM.

    Good luck all!

Many congrats Sky2k... and thank you for all the help you provided us.

  4. ok guys.........most of you here know that I am always asking and stuff on the board....

well I have a question and well........I know there are NO dumb questions but here it goes anywho......

DO YOU THINK AP WOULD HAVE BEEN STARTED ON SOMEONE IF THEY WEREN'T GOIN TO GET A VISA?????????? DO YOU THINK THE TIME WOULD BE WASTED ON THAT .......IF THE PERSON WASN'T GOIN TO GET THE VISA??

    thoughts on this please :D

    thanks so much

    Aisha

This would not make any sense at all. Why would they put someone on AP if the visa is denied. DOS is already loaded with cases, I am almost sure its against their protocol to waste the resources for a candidate whom they are not issuing visa.

Visa denials are mostly because of false statements, criminal charges, frauds etc, they can not deny your husband's visa due to a mistake in I-864 or because of a divorce document.

  5. Still waiting for reply.

Does anyone know when the auto tel. system of NVC say your case sent to embassy how much time does it take to reach US Embassy, Islamabad. And what tel. no. can the embassy be contacted.

I am worried since my interview date is in early september and I have noted that all the letters that I received from NVC reached in 6-8 weeks which would mean I would receive my interview letter either a day earlier or a few days after interview. If that is so I will miss my medical as the doctor does not give appointment without that letter.

Can the embassy send me this letter as they will have the entire file. I had an option that my wife sends the saiod letter from US but she has also come to Pakistan and await my interview, so no one can send it now from US as well. What should I do.

    Shas1,

Try to have someone (your wife's neighbor or a relative) to pick her mail or something and either fax it to you or scanned copy sent to you. You will need to have that letter. hopefully you will have the letter before the interview in mail. my wife got hers in 5 weeks. But don't just sit on it, work on an alternative to have someone sent the letter to you.

not really sure how else this could be resolved, the embassy won't send you anything, it's really hard to even get in touch with them to begin with but you can try calling or sending an email.

  6. Hi guys, hope everybody is doin' well.

I have posted about my wife's interview exp before but had a quick question. Her interview was on 7/10, she wasn't given a pink or blue slip and wasn't told anything about AP. Now when I call the embassy or DOS they say that her case is pending final review by CO. They assured me that there are no security checks pending for her so I am pretty sure she is not AP but on conulate level AR. With this being a busy summer season for them CO may not be able to get to the case files quickly since their priority at this time is to review the visitors visas first.

Has anybody gone through this? How long does it take? I have sent 3 emails to ISL consulate, no response. Any suggestions what I can try?

I have seen on cases that go through AP are placed on consulate level AR once DOS completes the checks but our case is on AR from the beginning.

    Thanks for your help!

    Ok guys,

Took me a while to find this, but here is the post explicitly for ISL interview questions and embassy experience dated back to 2005.

  7. salaam to all,

Okay, I am a bit more composed now than alot earlier. I have talked to my husband in full detail and he scanned and sent me the papers that he was given. Okay this is what it says.........

We got a 221g documentation pending........

There are 2 documents that ..are needed to be resubmitted.

Our co-sponsor is my Grandfather and he does have enough to sponsor, but for some reason, it's not good enough for the CO that interviewed Qasim. I have to again go ahead and do another I-864 and get that sent out again.

Secondly..... my husband was married before and they said that his divorce decree does not """conform to Pakistani law"" My husbands eldest bro is a lawyer and it was done according to the Pakistani Law with his bro's help. Qasim again asked his bro, once home from embassy about the papers and he was like YES they are of Pakistan Law. IDK what they want from us??

Also, of course we knew there would be AP and Qasim was told that would take a min of 6 wks. That was no surprise.

    Okay guys get this >>>

the CO asked Qasim>> Why don't you live with your wife ?? ((Umm duhh what do you think we are trying to do here ))

 Why don't you live in another country with your wife?? WTH??

The only other questions about our relationship was >>> how did we meet? , where did you marry? Why does your mom live there? and do we talk? ( of course everyday on phone and computer) but the rest of the questions......were about his first wife *sighs*

Right now, I'm really tired and I hope you can make heads or tails of this post........if not............sorry. I am just emotionally and mentally exhausted right now.

Anybody else that has been in this situation?? Please help!!!!!!!

    Allaah Hafiz

    Aisha

    Aisha,

Be strong at this critical stage, you have done the hard work, get your papers together, resubmit, have him go an AP as soon as possible. He will be here before you know it.

There was a similar situation with a friend’s wife, she was denied visa and was asked to resubmit some of his papers, and within 2 weeks after resubmitting the papers she had her visa in hand.

We are all here at VJ to support you.....hang in there...

  8. Hi ..its been along time since I have answered questions relating to this visa stuff. if you want to ask a question I will try my best to point you in the right direction. I will give you a quick brife of our case.

we had been on AP for like 3 1/2 years. we have been throught everything the USCIS can put a person under, I finally gave up the whole thing. I am here to offer support and encouragement.

3 1/2 years on AP. I m really sorry to hear that. So much for democracy by keeping families apart.

  9. i used www.kayak.com But its emirates airlines usually to jfk on that site i think. Congratulations

    Thanks!

I need PIA because I want a direct flight from Lahore to JFK. Etihad/Emirates don't travel direct, you have to switch planes. But thanks for your help.

    gohar

    Hi' Gohar

I wanted to ask you if you sponsored your wife or fiancee. Plus when they did the AP was it for you as a petitioner or the beneficiary. I assume its the petitioner if they send the case to washington.

Is there a pattern who goes on AP like mostly men or both men and women and for petitioner who are citizens or green card holders sponsoring their spouse.

    Hey Ali,

I think you are getting the Marriage/Fiancee Visa confused with Family Visa's.

The AP is always for the person in Pakistan (beneficiary). The Applicant is approved before the case ever makes it to the Isl. Embassy from my understandings. In my case at least, the AP was for my Fiancee in pakistan and not me.

I had to complete for I-134 (Affidavit of Support). I make enough money so i was able to "Sponsor" my fiancee.

    ----

congratsssssssssssssssssssssss to both of you!!! AlhumduLillah.

wishing her a safe journey, i m soooo happy 4 u both=)) she will ge to spend Eid w/you inshAllah=)))

uff meray liyay bhi dua karain=(

    loads of duas n lucks

    Revived,

Have you considered getting a lawyer involved? I know you mentioned that you have taken all the options of getting senators etc involve. I have a feeling that your file is sitting on someone's file cabinet or queue for no obvious reason just like it usually happens with any other government related issues. With so much technological advancement, The FBI checks are now happening within weeks etc. I just think someone somewhere needs to get someone's attention to pick your file and re-check. What could they possibly be checking for last 8 months is totally beyond me….

This is unbelievable. I would get an attorney involved at this point.

  10. Petitioner B.C. , Have they ever asked the Beneficiary for the Petioner's B.C at the embassy? Just wondering if I should send it or not?

I never sent the original, but i did send two copies just in case they decide to ask for it.

    Hi,

just wanted to ask you what is the number of DOS and how to contact them regarding AP on my case, secondly how did you got your case expedite and where did you call and what did you say.

    reply will appreciated.

    Thanks

    Saqib

+12026631225 here is the number, have you case number ready (ISL??????????) and the beneficary's birthdate.

I called ISB and told them that Im expecting and wanted to know how much longer it will take and if my husband will be here in time for my delivery the guy laughed and said he will put in a request, But I also asked the guy if he could some how expedite the case and he put in a request and thats how it worked for me. I would say within a week or so we receieved an email from ISb to come and pick up visa.

    hope this helps

    farah

    Hey Farah,

How are you? well the number you have given is just recording which i'm getting and we tried to call and convince the consular in Islamabad same as what you said but i dont know why the hell my AP is taking so long its been 2 1/2 months no progress and i'm stuck here for no reason. I wish i should've gone on visit visa way back then. please if you know any other number do let me know where i can get my case expedite.

    For Aisha

Congrates on finally getting the interview date and do remember to post you hubby interview experience.

    Thanks

    Saqib

    Saqib,

Did you press 1 and then 0? u shuld b connected to the operator / visa specialist make sure you call after 8:30am (EST)

We have been on AP for past 7mons now! and there is no way of expediting. As they say, there is a time for everythin' , inshAllah Allah SWT will make it easy on u both ~Ameen

    Tkc n duas

    Revived,

Sorry to hear that your case has been on AP for 7 months. This is outrageous. Did you consider writing to your senator? I highly recommend that.

    Good luck

  11. Thanks for replying again. I have updated my time line but in the start I did a mistake as my I-130 Petition was sent on 2007-06-10 and not on 1997-06-30.

Now I have three questions. 1- In the instructions of State Department website it says send only a copy of Bigraphic Page of passport with DS-230. Do not send other documents till asked by Islamabad Office. That means that the Birth, Marriage and police certificates are to be taken to interview and not to be sent to NVC. 2- The instructions also say to send DS-230 in the enclosed envolope and since I have not yet received the Instruction Package, I do not have that envolope. Is it a special envelope or can another work. 3- I have prepared DS-230 cover letter through james shortcut but it say send DS-230 Part-1 only so should I correct it by adding "and Part-II".

    Thanks

    SHAS

James' shortcut works perfect!! but it is only for IR-1/CR-1. Is your case on AOS. Try using the online payment system (https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx) to expedite your processes, you can print barcodes sheet etc from there as well. As for required documents, use this link (http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html). You shouldn't have to send DS-156 and 157 for CR-1, form my understanding they are used for k-1 and k-3.

    Thx

    F -

    Shas1,

I don't understand questions #1, are you checking the right link? http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html. where do you see this"In the instructions of State Department website it says send only a copy of Bigraphic Page of passport with DS-230. Do not send other documents till asked by Islamabad Office."

Don't worry about #2, as long as you have the barcode page, you should be ok. for #3 there is really no need to send a cover sheet for DS-230 as long as you have all docs and the barcode sheet, but yes you can write DS-230 part II.

    hope this helps!

    F -

Many thanks again for the prompt reply and help. You are right about the documents that I have to send.

I am clear on the envelope issue as well but as to my question no. 3 regarding Barcode sheet it is actually mentioned in the Barcode sheet (not coversheet-I inadvertantly mentioned cover sheet) as extracted from james shortcut that send DS-230 Part-1 only. From your reply I feel its ok to correct it by adding "and Part-II". Am I right or should I send barcodesheet without this particular correction. OR If only barcode matters then there is no need for "and PArt-II" but I should simply send DS-230 Part-I (signied) and Part-II (unsigned). For easy reference the barcode letter particular words are as under:

"You MUST RETURN THIS PAGE with the completed DS-230 Part I and supporting documents to:"

    Thanks again.

    SHAS

which say Don't worry about #2, as long as you have the barcode page, you should be ok. for #3 there is really no need to send a cover sheet for DS-230 as long as you have all docs and the barcode sheet, but yes you can write DS-230 part II.

    hope this helps!

I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as the barcode sheet is prepared per James' instructions. Have you tried the online payment system? Once your payment is made (AOS fee, IV bill fee, usually happens within a day) you can print the actual barcodes sheets from there.

  12. Hello everyone.....

I have a question about I-134. I will be completing one for my brother in law's K-3. Do I need to have a bank statement if my salary is more than 125% poverty guidelines?

I know I m being impatient but I kind of need to know before I send the I-134 to my sister.

It seems like you do, I briefly looked at the form and instructions. This is different from CR1's AOS form (I-864), where they explicitly define other financial assets as optional (you only need to provide those if it helps your case financially)

In your case there is nothing optional you will have to fill out the complete form and provide proofs, which is totally redundant work in my opinion.

    Good luck.

  15. I am getting really confused now. My case was complete for cr-1 visa at nvc last week. Now I get a letter from NVC stating I need to send them a police certificate which was already sent to them in the packet. I guess I will just have to call them tomorrow. Why would they need another one when its good for 6 months. I can see if it out of date. I just dont get it.

I would check the date on the letter or postal stamp date to make sure that the letter wasn't issued after your case was complete. If it was issued before your case was completed then I wouldn't worry about it. What does the automated message say about your case?

I think someone else had a similar situation about the police cert on this forum, where they sent one in but was asked to either submit or bring another one at the time of the interview.

In any case, I'd call and talk to a live operator.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

    F -

  16. I really don't see a reason for getting another copy of police certificate. Embassy has all the original which were submitted to NVC, and embassy would return all the original on interview day to the applicant. So, I don't see going through the hassle of get the duplicate of police certificate. Police certificate is valid for 6 months if it's more than that then I see a need for a police certificate.

I understand that but my husbands was only good for 90 days!!!!

He will be calling embassy to see if that would be good enough, he said I am worrying to much

    Allaah Hafiz

    Aisha

Aisha I'd have to agree with your husband-:)

regardless, as Sky2k stated, if the certificate is expiring then he should get another one. As per other duplicates etc, i don’t think it will be required. I really think the NVC is playing safe here, just in case, if they misplaced the docs, they can always say that we asked the beneficiary to bring the docs in the interview letter. I told my wife to get those duplicate etc if it is not too much trouble just be on the safe side with the new process..

  17. Hi again. still I do not know how to enter or ask a question on the thread so sorry if I am in the wrong place. My query was that whiling applying for I-130 and filling Form G-325 I wrote my father's name as incomplete e.g if its Qazi Ahmad Ali Khan I wrote his first name as Ahmad middle as Ali and last name as Khan. i-e I did not write Qazi as first name. Now in DS-230 when I was filling the same I realized that in my birth certificate, Police certificate, Paassport etc. the fathers name is written as Qazi Ahmad Ali Khan. So how do I write this in DS-230. Should I write Qazi Ahmad as his first name, Ali as Middle and Khan as last. Will writing the actual name make difference.

If anyone can reply, I will appreciate.

    SHAS

    Shas,

I am really not sure if there is a right or wrong answer to your question. However, in my personal opinion, I would correct this information in DS-230 forms because a) it is better to correct a past mistake then to continue with the earlier mistake. b ) The DS-230 is your actual visa application and you should be as accurate as possible filling that form.

    Good luck.

    Aisha

Here is what I am sending my wife:

    - Copies of:

I-130, G-325's, DS-230, AOS and last year's Tax return along with the interview letter (once I receive it).

Although, she doesn't need any of those docs in reality, but she will need to go over all the information that is on those forms and be aware of it. Most of the interview questions come from what you provide on the forms.

A friend of her was sent back to provide more proof because she told the officer her husband DOB wrong. Her husband’s real date of birth is different from what’s on papers, birth certs etc, which is very common in Pakistan. She wasn't aware of this as her husband filled out all the forms etc and was sent back to provide more evidence such as his birth cert etc.

If I recall correctly, you also have an AOS co-sponser, They will ask your husband about the co-sponser, his/her relationship with you etc. My sister's husband was asked a bunch of qustions about the co-sponser in his interview in Feb '08, mostly general questions.

My wife knows more than what she should know about me-:) I just wanted to make sure that she is on the same page at the time of the interview.

She has all the wedding pictures, original nikah nama (we had two made at the time of nikah) I will ask her to get a "duplicate" copy of the police cert, Another original birth certificate. Whichever department issues the birth certificate, they can re-issue the same certs again as long as you have photocopy of the BC (this makes it easier for them to locate your record).

I am really not sure if there is a way of finding out if the embassy has received your Docs, Its worth emailing them, but I would wait at least two weeks after the NVC forwards your case to the embassy.

    hope this help -

    F -

  18. I was looking at the info about the medical and where my husband needs to go.

How much in advance should he go for medical? My sister in law is here with me now, & thinks he should go around the 14th of July. Which that is like 1 & 1/2 weeks before he would go for interview. What do others think?

So does anyone know if that would be fine or what? Also, what do they do >>>vaccanations, physical, chest x-ray.....whatelse?

Also, I will be sending him our whole petition packet from start to finish.........pics.........bills in both our names......letters, emails and cards ........any other suggestions?

I just want my husband to be prepared for his interview and have everything he needs right there in front of him. So if an officer ask for something, Qasim can go right to the paper or pic that they are asking for.

    Thanks

    Aisha

My parents have the same interview date as yours' -- July 31st. However, they haven't received anything in mail yet. I received papers from NVC letting me know of their interview date and what else will be required the day of the interview.

Is this normal these days? From what I remember those mails used to go to the applicant of the visa not the sponsor.

    Thanks and good luck!

Yes, this is the new process; They will also receive a copy though it usually takes longer to for the international mail to arrive. I suggest you send them a scanned/fax copy of the letter and let them initiate the remaining process e.g. medical examination appointment etc...

  19. NVC recieved my ds-230 with documents last friday and entered it in the system on the 10 of june. I called today and the message said I had documents missing or incomplete  . I called NVC right away and the woman told me that the case is complete as we speak  . Wierd how they give you that message that is not true. I asked her about when should I expect a interview date and she said probably we are looking at the middle of August sometime. We shall see

Congratulations on your case being complete!!!!!!

    Aisha

Alhumduliah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We finally got our interview date!!!

    It's for July 31st @ 8am :D

    Aisha

    Congrats Aisha,

Good luck and please keep us posted.

  20. Hi Everyone,

Our interview date is on July 7th. I am leaving on June 19th to be with my wife, and I am going with her to Islamabad for the interview, I am excited but also nervous about this security check thing, I hope my wife doesn't have to go through that, I doubt they would be sispcious about a 20 year old female, well just hoping and praying :dancing:

    Elijah

Congrats Elijah - keep your hopes high, no need to be nervous. From talking to other people, it does help you being there personally.

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress, interview experience etc.

  21. Hiya, how every body is doing here? I need help from you guys , I sent the DS230 along with every necessary documents mentioned in that web site. After 5 days i phoned the NVC to get the latest status information for my DS 230 form, The message said ,your case was completed on 6th june. But two days later i received a mail from the NVC stating that police certificate was missing but still the completed case message was on.

I phoned the NVC they told me your wife should provide the new police certificate at the time of interview.in ISLAMABAD.

Can my wife use the photocopy of the police certificate that she ALREADY had for her own record instead of going through the complex police process?

    thanx zorro khan

    Zorro,

I am not sure why the NVC operator would tell you this when ISL will have all original docs in their hands at the time of the interview. The only reason I can think of is the validity of the police cert or expiration from the NVC/ISL perspective. Although, I am yet to find that information anyware on their website.

This would really suck if they ask for Police Cert again, it won't just be your wife but everyone else with post late Feb. 08 NVC cases. I received a letter from the NVC for missing documents for DS-230 since I never submitted any with the DS-230. Interesting enough, in that letter, they requested all documents to be submitted to the NVC, (marriage cert etc.) except for the police cert. (At this point I had already sent the docs)

Here is the information on the letter regarding the police cert:

    "Pakistan Police Certificate:

Pakistan; Available. Police records are available at no cost from the applicants' District Coordinating Office. They may take up to three months to obtain. Because of the long wait for these it is requested that you bring these documents at the point of interview."

Those idiots (excuse my frustration here) could have added this simple information on the instructions website for DS-230. My documents to the NVC were delayed because of the length and complexity involved in getting the police cert, so that time is already wasted plus if we have to get the cert again, it can really cause problems, I know for fact that there is more time and scrutiny involved if you request more than one police cert within short length of time. (twice in 3 months or so, it happened to a friend who applied for Both Canadian and US immigration at the same time for his wife, where she needed the police cert for both within four months time period.)

    Thanks

  22. Hi Fason75,

Thank you so much, I am waiting for them to give us an interview date. Does anyone know apporximately how long it takes between packet 3.5 to 4 packet???

Depending on the workload, my guess is anywhere from 3-4 weeks.

Also, I wanted to share another NVC experience with you folks (especially to the ones who are in the line to use the new online payment system, new appointment post process etc.)

I was unable to send the necessary docs with the ds-230 (marriage cert, police cert etc) for my wife due to the lack of knowledge in process change at the NVC for ISL. I finally got all docs and sent them in; the NVC received the docs on the 29th of May. I was hoping to have my case complete in the next few days with the new turbo charged NVC process/staff, but as they say "nothing comes ez, especially the US visas”-:)

I called NVC on June 03 and the automated system yet again had the mind sickening message, "The NVC has reviewed your packet of information and found information missing or incomplete...."

At this point I was hoping that they didn't lose my Original papers, anyhow I got thru an Operator, (some really nice guy, couldn't catch his name) he reviews everything for 5 minutes and can't figure out what’s missing, puts me on hold, comes back after 5 minutes and tells me that I paid the IV bill fee twice and one of the payment was in "rejected" status, hence your case is being held.

I explained him the situation I had with paying the IV bill fee online over a month ago, somehow online payment screwed up and rejected my payment. I paid the fee again 3 days later which got processed, he understood the situation and told me that he is putting in a request for "them" to clear up "rejected" status and complete your case and also told me to call back at end of the week or early next week.

I am planning to call again tomorrow...and day after tomorrow and so on...

This is one of those NVC mysteries recently discovered. My IV bill was paid (on 2nd attempt) and they went along and processed the DS-230 etc etc... But when it came down to completing my case, the held my case on a "rejected" payment status over a month ago, which was later rectified by re-paying the IV bill fee.

So for those of you who paid online and had any trouble, that you were able to rectify later, please call the NVC ahead of time and explained them the situation and asked them to remove such status...

Do this ahead of time; don’t wait until your case is close to completion….

Will keep you all posted on how long it takes them to actually complete my case…
