  1. i am the USC (Male) and my fiance is Mexican. she came here on a K-1 visa and we just got married last week. i have filed out all the paper work required for the AOS but she still has not received her SS#. we applied for it last week right after getting married and it hasn't arrived they told us it would take 3 weeks. do i need to wait for this SS# to put this on her AOS paperwork, or do i just submit the AOS without a SS# ??

another question, on the AOS papers it keeps asking for "ALIEN REGISTRATION #" what is this ?? does my fiance have 1 ?? where can i find this number??

  2. ok everybody i am back in the good old USA, i went to juarez with my fiance on january 20th, we did not receive the appointment letter yet i know it was mailed out because i called the consulate. for anybody in the future who is in this situation this is what you are to do. go to the consulate at 7:30AM this is the time INFORMATION opens. stand in line and present the letter from NVC stating the USA case number and juarez case number. once he enters the number tell him you have not received your invitation letter but know you have been approved for an interview. he will print the letter out for you and you can proceed to the medical clinic for your exams.

on the 21th i went to get my letter printed out and the consulate was closed because they said they were behind on applications and needed an administrative day where no one was allowed in. so on the 22nd we went back and got the letter, then finished her medical exams within 30 minutes !!!. no vaccinations are needed for fiance K-1 Visa. they told her to come back in 1 hour for an interview with a psychologists and we were worried so we went back, then she waited 2 hours and asked how much longer, and they told her it was a mistake she didnt need a psychologist..... what a waste of time. anyways we paid the $148.00 US and went back at 2pm for her results all was good.

our appointment letter had an open interview from 8am to 10am so we arrived at 8am on the 23rd and my fiance diana got on line and entered the consulate around 8:30am. no makeup, liquids or electronic devices allowed inside. i waited outside until she came out at 2:30pm she came out with a tracking number from DHL the consualte said we had to pick up her papers from the DHL center when it was ready. so we kept calling and the consulate had not sent it that day. so the consulate was closed on the 24th saturday, closed on the 25th sunday, and then closed on the 26th for martin luther king day, and on tuesday the 27th DHL had received the packet and we went to pick it up at 5pm and when we opened the packet, it had my fiances papers and the WRONG passport inside. we were devastated and figured how could the consulate make such a BIG MISTAKE ??, the next morning the 28th we lined up at the consulate at 7:30 on the information line. we told the guy how we got the wrong passport in the packet and my fiance went inside. i waited till 11:30 and she came out with the documents from DHL and her own passport with the VISA imprinted !!!! the end of my adventure.

documents the were asked of and required

  3. ok everybody im going to ciudad juarez this week and i need your advice. i am the male USC and my fiance lives in puebla mexico. my fiances packet was mailed out on december 18th 2008 and neither my fiance or myself have received anything. i spoke to the consulate and they told me sometimes things get lost in the mail so its ok to download the forms online and go to the consulate and request them to print out the invitation letter......... i want to know if anybody has had experience in this?? because i dont know if i should go to the medical clinic first and explain that to them or go straight to the consulate first and explain that...... anybody have any advice on this ??

because if my fiance goes to the consulate first then they print out the invitation letter she probably wont come out in time to do the medical the same day and we might lose a whole day of processing which sucks. any help appreciated.

  4. my fiance has been approved for an interview at ciudad juarez. i called the consulate and found out they had mailed out the packet of info on december 18th 2008. my fiance still has not received anything, neither have i.

i called the consulate and they told me if we are ready just go online download the forms and go to the consulate and they will print out your invitation letter because my fiance has already been considered for an interview. - i just want to double check that with you guys.

also i went to this website http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html to download the forms because i found that website in this forum and i cant download form DS-156K, is this needed for my fiances interview at ciudad juarez or not?? just to be on the safe side does anyone have an exact check list of all documents needed for this interview ?? i have the following.

    1. letter from my job

    2. letter from bank on savings and checking accounts

    3. complete i-134 form - ( i used the new form with no notarization needed supposedly)

    4. copy of NOA2 & NOA1

    5. year 2007 taxes complete copy

    6. Copy of both Birth Certificates in black and white

    7. proof of ongoing relationship - im still working on this.

    8. copy of NVC letter stating ciudad juarez case number

p.s. my fiance has a complete copy of all forms submitted for the I-129F

  5. Good for you guys!!!

So can I go past my expiration date or what do I do?

I am definitely not going to make it before.

i have a NOA2 date of 09-12-2008 i have not received a damn thing yet from the consulate, neither has my fiance in Mexico. at this point i don't think this is normal anymore, im going to try to call the consulate again and let them tell me that they still haven't sent shyt out. anyone else going through this?? it has been 3 and a 1/2 months since NOA2 what should i do ?? when i spoke to the consulate i told them my expiration date is January 01 2009. they said that didn't matter to them.

  6. it is true that some people never receive their packet from the consulate and can go without an interview letter BUT, this only applies to people who have been considered for an interview, in other words, they sent out the packet and it was never received, if you have not been considered for an interview and not been sent out a packet you CANNOT go to the consulate, just to clear that up.

my NOA2 is 09-12-08 and the consulate received my case on 10-10-2008, still no packet, i called the consulate they said it could be up to 3 months to be considered for an interview. to call the consulate you need to be calling from a landline, i think its option 1 for english then option 2 for K-1 fiance visa.

  7. I am not sure anyone will be able to answer your question about hotels around the consulate because they open the brand new embassy tomorrow and it is located on a different side of town. The new address is:

    Paseo de la Victoria #3650

    Fracc. Partido Senecú

    Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua C.P. 32543

so let me get this straight, my fiance will not be having her appt at the same consulate as everyone else ??

when does this new embassy start servicing applicants ??

  8. whats the hotels around the consulate that are recommended, or at least half way close to USA standards?? cause ive been to some really shitty hotels in Mexico and i want something nice if im going to be there for a few days with my fiance. anybody know of a list names with addresses? what about prices ?

is it worth it to take a plane from puebla to ciudad juarez or does everyone go in car or bus ??

  9. so i received my NOA2 on 09/12/2008, and supposedly NVC said my case was fwded to the consulate on 10/10/2008. i have yet to receive anything from the consulate and my fiance hasn't received anything as well. should i be worrying at this point ? judging by my dates when should i expect to receive this "invitation letter"?

when i do receive the invitation letter, will it have a date of when the interview is? will the medical have a date or when the appointment is? or will everything just have a Monday-Friday 8am-5pm ???

  10. i have a copy of my NOA2 in color does this help in anyway ???
YES, You just saved yourself some $$$ for AOS, a simple photo copy is needed to be attached to AOS, and bring a photo copy to visa interview just in case, but I highly doubt it will be needed at visa interview. If I-129F was not approved you would not be interviewing for a visa.

OK this is good to hear, yet im still a little worried just not as much as i was. i still want the NOA2 but don't want to pay the $340. i thought about calling USCIS and telling them i never received my NOA2 hard copy and requesting them to mail another, any comments on this? i wouldn't have to pay if im telling them its not my fault right ?? so i was calling and the operator kept saying call back from 8am to 6pm, but it doesnt say which time zone they are in, its 2pm in new york, how would i know what time zone they are in ?? i called 1-800-375-5283.

  11. Firstly the NOA2 letter is not needed for visa interview, it WILL be needed when adjusting status in the USA after marriage.

it has to be in my house but i have to turn it upside down, i would order a duplicate just to be safe but it is so expensive. can anyone be sure that the NOA2 is not needed for the interview in ciudad juarez ?? because that would buy me alot of time to find it.

  12. I have had a different experience than those on the Juarez Thread.

Our approved petition was mailed from the NVC to the Juarez Consulate on Sept. 24, 2008. I called the Consulate on Oct. 3rd and was told our petition was received on Sept. 25 and that the invitation letter and Packet 3 documents would not be mailed to us for another 2-3 MONTHS....yes months not weeks. No explaination was given for the long lead time to ship the packet. When I asked whether the packet would be sent to me, my fiance or both, they said that the documents would be sent to my attorney in the US and not my fiance or me.........we will see what happens.

I have also been checking VJ on the average times for CDJ to send the invitation letter and it appears to be no more than 4 weeks for all 2008 entries so I am not certain why they told me 2-3 months. However, it has already been 25 days and we have not received the invitation letter yet. I am hopeful that something has not changed at CDJ recently and that we will be getting our invitation letter soon.

    Good luck!!!!

I would be interested if anyone else has been given similar comments regarding the lead times for the invitation letter and packet from CDJ.

Visahopeful- It's very possible that they only TOLD you it would take 2-3 months because if they tell you it may take 4 weeks to receive, then they KNOW you will be calling back frustrated in 4 weeks if you haven't gotten it. I got Packet 3 (I'm the USC) about a month after it arrived at the consulate. My fiance (Mexican) actually DID get his Packet 3 about 2 or 3 weeks after I got it (which is reallly impressive, because mail I have sent him NEVER makes it to his house)

So... I'd look out for it in the mail- it may be coming sooner than expected (hopefully!)

Marko- I think they move posts when they feel that it would fit more appropriately in a different forum :) So it was just moved to a different forum, that's all! (It's now under K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports)

wow, so you received your packet 3 and it still takes 2 more months till the interview date?? is there any way to speed that up like just going to the interview with the documents before the actual interview date ??

  13. hello guys, im almost on my way to a interview and i need to know which vaccination shots are required for ciudad juarez, i dont want to get there and turns out my fiance needs some shot which would delay our journey and complicate things. so my fiance has a record of shots that she has gotten since she was born, and i have a scan of it, hopefully someone out there knows which shots are required and if any are missing, any help greatly appreciated, thank you.

Since your fiancee is going through a K1 visa, she won't need vaccines until she goes through adjustment of status. Read about the CDJ consulate here:

ok so by looking at your timeline , im assuming you know what your talking about since you got your visa granted. i just hope your right cause i would love the peace of mind.

  15. i finally got my NOA2 after all this time, i almost lost hope with those freezing May processing dates so i stopped looking at them for about 2 weeks and all of sudden i saw that my date passed, soon after i had a dream that my fiance's application was updated but i couldn't read the date in my dream, it just didn't make sense so i woke up and logged on to USCIS, and it was updated that morning, later on at 5pm i got my notice stating approval....i would like to thank everyone for all their help and answering my questions, although my journey is still not over i certainly feel i am getting some where. good luck to everyone's future endeavors, you will be hearing from me again.
