  1. We allocated around 1.5yrs to 2yrs for this process. There's no rigid answer for "how long does this whole process gonna take", if you are lucky (and have a simple case with no redflags or whatsoever idk), your case probably will move faster than others but generally speaking, from what I have seen at the "popular" tracking website, they have around 2.5k ~ 3k cases approval flow per month since earlier this year (last year was very efficient but hell with new policy, reduced workforce, I am glad they still going at a steady rate lol). Also the timeline is very variable and heavily depending on things like are they gonna ask for RFE, how long does it take from NVC to your Consulate, wait time to setup interview, and so on... For example, in Canada, Montreal is the only place that do K1 visa which could create a huge back logs so yeah, it is hard to predict, no certain answers and the only thing you can do is leave it there and checking-in regularly. It is a lengthy process (and stressful as well) but checking-in everyday will just gonna make it feel so long. So find something to do, plan something exciting to look forward to it, and breathe, you will get there.
  2. Thank you! Honestly it isn't a bad idea to be mentally prepared my case will get transfer due to so many uncertainty going on right now (and like MTL is the only place that processing K1 in Canada too) I think OP have enough information about what they should put in that line & how to transfer their case! Good luck to OP as well!
  3. Appreciated the help but I did put Montreal in that I129F form. However, I am still a temporary visa holder and as per MalloryCat said, there's a potential that they might send it to my country since I am not a permanent citizen in Canada. Hence, the reply with "I do hope they send it to MTL instead of Vietnam"
  4. Oh dang, didn't know they could do that. I do hope they will forward my case to Montreal because I would scream (internally) if they send ours to Vietnam LOL. To OP: I'm (beneficiary) an international student in Canada and we put Montreal as ours consulate bc I still have a few years to finish up my program. Since ours are pretty similar, I think this also depending on the expiry date of your fiancé's work permit (for me, I allocated 1.5 years for the whole process, if things went south, I will just go back to Vietnam and do interview over there).
  5. March filer here!! I-129 F sent: March 13 I-129 F received: March 14 I-129 F notice date: March 20 The waiting game continue, for now it will be a LDR for both of us. On a bright side, we are still in the same timezone and he can drove up to visit me for more proof! Super excited for the summer trip and funsie!
  6. Thank you so much Dashinka!! That cleared a lot of my frustration! I will list out my residency address in Vietnam as well in case they needed to do background check (tho I have been out of country since early 2019) Hope you had a wonderful xmas and new year with your family!
  7. Hi guys, first time poster here! I am (the beneficiary) helping out my partner with I-129F for our K1 sponsorship and have a few questions that would love to hear some insights and clarification from other members! My background: - Nationality is Vietnam no Canadian PR. - Currently on Study Permit and will finish my school around Winter/Summer 2026. Questions I have atm: 1. Address History Section - Do I have to list everything out (past 5yrs) including the one I temporary stayed for 3 months? 2. Name & Address in Native Language - Should I use Vietnamese name (latin with diacritics) and current address in Canada? (this is my main residency address since 2023 and I will be staying here till I finish my school.) 3. Consular Processing Information - Should we put the Montreal location one? (it was the only one showed up when we searched for K1 Processing in Canada.) 4. He occasionally drive to Toronto to visit me a lot during the past 2 years. As far as i know, he used the passport card every time he enters and there was no stamps or whatsoever, is there anyway for us to obtain the entry/exit timestamps because I think the border patrols definitely has it, just not sure where to look (I'm guessing it has to be on Canada gov website??) Thanks a bunch for helping us out, and have a merry Christmas everybody!!
