  1. Howdy all,

So Sarah and I are going home for Christmas to the UK (yay!)

Last time we went, my son and I went through the non UK side to enter (since we're both US Citizens and haven't gotten his UK passport yet). When I went in the woman who stamped our passport noticed my wife waiting for us, and said "oh, next time just go through the UK side together as a family!"

Well, I had never heard of this before, so was curious if anyone has done that? Can you all go through the UK side and be allowed in, or does she still need to go through UK side, and our son and I go through the nonUK side?

  2. Hey all,

Sarah sent her passport renewal in at the end of June. The delivery confirmation shows it was received July 1st. Fee has come out of the account already, but no passport in hand. We've gotten nothing back so kind of wondering what's going on. I know on their website there's a hotline to call, but it's a credit card payment line, so my question is...we're going on 3 months of nothing, is there anyone we could call besides the credit card line? Getting a bit worried, as we're planning on going back home in December, and my wife is currently in passport limbo :(

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

  3. So Sarah had to send her passport in for renewal as it expired in July. The problem is they're running around 10 weeks for processing. My question is what would be the case if she does not have her passport back by then, what will happen? If she needs to take it into the Biometrics office, can they postpone the biometrics until she receives her passport back?

  4. Hannah, what was explained to Sarah (bare in mind this is for Ohio, not California) is that she can get her Driver's License but it will expire date of the EAD (so like June for us). They told her once she gets her Green Card in hand, that she can go into the BMV and they can switch it over to a full license.

Dunno if the rules are the same in CA, but that's what we were told for Ohio!

  5. Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On August 7, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later

  6. Email from CRIS: Approval Notice Sent of July 31st :)

    Congrats!!!

We sent our packet the same day as yours, so hopefully we'll be getting an update soon!

No update on their website yet - last touch was 6/19/09.

So a question. I know a few people have called in inquire the status of their case - what number did you call? We have tried the number on USCIS, but my wife said she cannot find a way to get through to a live human being.

  7. just saw this update online today:

The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done, counting from when USCIS received it. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. To receive e-mail updates, follow the link below to register.

Sounds like we're moving in the right direction! I assume this means the local office?

Seems like we're making progress!

  9. Sarah just got her EAD in the mail on Wednesday! Woot!

I don't know what she's going to do...as she's 6 months pregnant, and i don't know that she'll want to look into anything serious until well after the baby's born...though she was thinking of going to a temp agency for some form of work for the next couple months to help save for Baby.

Not sure though..there's also a few work at home sites, that are actually legit, that she's thinking of trying. At least she can start looking if she wants. Now that she's got her SSN, and EAD, we can breathe a bit easier about the Green Card process!
