  1. My husband has entered the US twice from Cairo. He said the line goes very quickly and that they were very helpful to him. He had to have help because he switched airlines so he had to check his bag in to a different airline and they sent somebody with him. Also, I am not sure what kind of visa you are but if you are a k1 ask for the work stamp if you are interested in any kind of work before you file for AOS.

thank you and yes i hope they check my bag in atlanta only, i heared they dont give the work stamp in the airport now, and i hope they finsh everything pretty fast to catch the plane

  2. Ok, thanks that sounds simple enough and helps clear up what to expect.

Can anyone answer some questions about my arrival in the US.

I will be leaving Cairo and my first stop in the US will be in New York. I only have less than 2 hours before I take my next flight to Atlanta. Can anyone give me an idea of what will happen once I land in New York? I believe my luggage will go straight through to Atlanta so will I have to do anything other than go to the terminal to board the next flight?

I will not be here on a visit but to remain since I received my K1 Visa. I am just unsure if I will have enough time before my next flight out if I have to go through any immigration or customs in New York or if I would do that in Atlanta when I get my luggage.

OK, firstly your luggage will NOT go straight thru to Atlanta. NYC is your POE into the USA, and as such, you will have to reclaim your baggage there, and then re-check it onto your Atlanta flight.

Secondly, everything (customs, immigration, everything) gets done at your initial POE (in your case, NYC). Once you've been cleared, your Atlanta flight becomes a bog-standard internal flight that any USC would take. And unless you give the immigration officers any cause for concern (or unless they feel like being particularly #######) then it'll all be done and dusted in under 15 minutes, so don't stress.

  6. Well this is good because at least you know that they are working on your case. I wrote to my Senator about 3 times but only after my husband had been on A/P for more than 9 months. I would write to my Senator about 1 time a month for 3 months and it really did help our case everyone's case is different but i can say that contacting my Senator did help. If i were you i would write a letter to my Senator about 1 time a month i do think it will help. As before i will be praying for you. Everything will be ok!

  7. its what the congressman office told us after they sent and email to the embassy

When I emailed the Embassy shortly after his interview to check on it, below is what they told me:

    “Dear Congressman :

I am writing in reference to your e-mail message dated January 16, 2009, concerning the non-immigrant (fiancé) visa application of Mr. xxxx, the fiancé of your constituent, Ms. xxxx, case number xxxxx. I apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry.

Mr. x’s application is currently undergoing required administrative processing. The time needed to review individual cases is difficult to predict. Visa applicants affected by these procedures are informed of the need for additional processing at the time of interview. As soon as the processing is complete, we will contact Mr. xxx to notify him of the next step in his case.

I hope this information is helpful in responding to your constituent’s inquiry.”

I have checked with my liaison in Atlanta to see if she could tell me anything more after receiving your email, but unfortunately she can’t check on it at this point. We will have to wait on the Embassy to get back in touch with xxx and let him know further status. I will however email back to the Embassy after giving them sufficient time to work on this and keep you posted.

I’m sorry I don’t have more information to give you! But I will keep a check on it.

    Thanks!

  8. Oh boy do i remember those emails from the Embassy. It means you will be waiting on A/P. As the others stated just try to be patient i know its really hard but i would email them at least 2 times a month to see what is going on and get updates on your case. Cairo unless they have changed is known to be slower than most Embassy's . I pray that you will get your Visa soon. Hang in there its on its way!
