  1. Hello guys!! I just got the interview date email!! It is on August 11th

For Colombia's embassy do i need to fill out any forms? I've read here before about having to make a payment at "Banco Helm" but the email i recieved says nothing about that, according to the email the only thing i am missing is the medical examination. I dont want to miss anything.

Can someone help me out or point me to a forum that has the answers?

Thank you and good luck to you all!

  2. Congratulations to all of you who have an interview in July!!

I just called and they told me that i did not make it for July, I'll just have to be more pacient.

Yesterday the operator told me that you can send an email request to expedite, allthough it is mostly given for cases that need some medical treatment or something like that, and the embassy is the one that determines whether or not to grant the expedite request. I sent mine yesterday i guess there is no harm in doing so eventhough the reason is that i miss my wife and not that there is any "special" need for her to travel. I sent the email to

    nvcinquiry@state.gov

    Attn: PI Supervisor Sue

I included our case# her name and Date of birth as well as mine and stated that i wanted to expedite our case.

Sorry i forgot to add, I am not sure if that "Attn: PI Supervisor Sue" is generic or specific for your embassy. It will be best if you called and found out

  3. I have a "Plan Linea Directa" which gives you a landline number in on of the major cities in Colombia (Medellin in my case) and she can call as a regular local call within Medellin but the call is transfered to my cellphone here in the US

Sorry forgot to add.... it is with Orbitel. My current plan charges me $34.95 per month it gives me $25 for me to use for outgoing phone calls and unlimited incoming calls/minutes

  4. I know what u mean its a pain I just went thru the same process. The NVC requires translations of documents ONLY if they're in a language different than English or the official language of the country in which the interview will take place so for Colombia thats spanish. Unless ur wife was born in lets say Brazil and her documents are in Portuguese there is no need to translate them at this point.

And yes they do have to have the stamp from "La Notaria" to make them official doc.

  5. Only for NVC Electronic Processing - and - yer country/Embassy doesn't participate in it. This may change, over time - you could monitor http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4411.html and see if your country is listed there.

Did you read the link I supplied, moments ago? No ? *sigh*

I checked it out and Bogota is not listed there.

I have sent the originals, but as mentioned before you have to wait until the documents are requested do not send them ahead of time cuz that might delay the process.

  6. Hello, I sent my wife's DS-230 on Monday it was sent Express Mail Next day Delivery with confirmation reciept of delivery. So it should have arrived at the NVC on Tuesday but so far I have not received the confirmation from the post office that it was delivered and the rep at the NVC sais he didn't know for sure if they were there and asked me to call back at the end of the week. Now i am freaking out because i sent all originals with the form. What should i do? I have no tracking number, should i call and talk to someone else? Has this happened to any of you before?

  7. I understand however since its the first time she gets that pasado Judicial it does take like a month because you first have to get an appointment and they give those like a month later. So we went to the local Police Dept and got a document stating that she has never been convicted of any crimes or has had any charges against (basically the same that the pasado judicial will say

We will just have to wait and see, thank for your replies

  8. Hello all, I paid the $400 for the DS-230 and i gathered all the paperwork -well most of it- and mailed the packed Monday express mail next day so they should have received it Tuesday 5/4/10.

First of all any clues when my wife will have the interview?

Second, When we were gathering all the paperwork we went to the DAS office in Medellin to get the "Police Record" that is required. However, it takes pretty much a month to get that, idk why it takes so long. Anyways my wife will probably get that by the end of this month (May). As all of you here i cannot wait for my SO to be here so what we did is that we went to our City's Police Dept and got a Police Record from them and that is what we sent.

She will have the DAS paperwork by the time of the interview and since the NVC says that by the time of the interview you have already submitted most of the paperwork and just make sure you have whatever is missing in the interview, will this be a problem?
