My bear doesn't look so ferocious though while holding a heart that says 'I love you'.
Yes, but I signed up for electronic processing. Otherwise you have to snail mail them.
Hi Saylin - Another question from me... I've now paid the $88 and the $404 bills, completed the DS-261 and waiting for my DS-260 to appear so I can complete that. I did the optin email already as well. How about the 864 form though? You completed it and emailed all the info for the AOS already... will I receive the 864 and be prompted to complete it, or do I just complete it without being asked and email the form and all AOS documentation at this point?

Thanks everyone!! Just had my wife email the DS3032 (choice of agent form). I will call on Monday to see if they have Invoice ID number.
congrats DanTes! make sure to also ask the live operator for you beneficiary number as well as invoice ID number. so you'll have 3 numbers... case number, ben. number and inv ID number. you'll need that beneficiary number when you pay the aos fee. i didn't realize this and had to call back and wait on hold for awhile...
-
Thanks Heather & Matt and Saylin! #######, I remembered to ask for the Inv ID #... didn't realize I forgot to ask for more info. Too funny that the operator doesn't volunteer to provide you with the other. Oh, well. Thanks again guys! And looks like we all have the US/Cdn connections... I heart Canadians...

Hi all - In completing the DS-261 for electronic processing at the NVC, is the "beneficiary ID" the same as our NVC case number or our invoice ID number? This is the electronic form that replaces the DS-3032 (choice of agent). Sayin, do you know?
-
same here, as expected.
the notice said it was shipped on the 8th, which was tuesday, and i didn't call yesterday (friday) bc - well you know - what were the odds right? i was going to try again next wed! so should be in there about 4-5 business days after it's shipped. xelance & ezzie, when were yours shipped do you know? i seriously think tsc is getting on track now. as much as it's hard to stay positive with all the ####### we've all been thru together, i truly think we are all climbing out now. nvc should be smooth. stay positive all my tsc friends... there will be some karmic payoff at some point...

Jellybelly: When was your NOA2?
hi aviatorbill - noa2 was jan 21st; noa1 was july 1st. you?
-
Hi,
I'm going through NVC right now and I'll answer your questions as best as I can.
1. About a week after your case gets to NVC, start calling them up. When you do find out a case number has been assigned, talk to an operator and make sure you get the IIN (Invoice Identification number) and the beneficiary ID number. And then give the email addresses of both the petitioner and beneficiary. With your case number and IIN, you can then sign onto the payment portal here: https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx and check when your bills become invoiced. After you get all the information from the operator, you can then send an optin email to NVC. Follow the instructions here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_5163.html After getting a case number assigned, it took two days (it might have been one day, but NVC closed the day after I got my case number) for the DS-261 to appear here: https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx?signout=true Once it's available, you can send it. You're going to need the beneficiary ID so make sure you get it when first talking with an operator.
2. The attachment should be one large PDF file. Make sure it's not too big in size. I'd say around 10 MB to be safe, anything more and it might get rejected by their system. Make sure you have the case number written on the top of each page. I'm not sure if this is needed for electronic processing, but just to be safe. The forms can be in black and white, but anything with color (like passport photos, certificates, etc) should be scanned in color. As for the passport pictures, this is what I'm going to do: I'm going to put one picture facing up with another one facing down beside it then scan it. Then flip them both over and scan again. I'm not entirely sure what you're really supposed to do with electronic processing, but they ask for two pictures, so I'll scan two pictures. Make sure on the back of each picture is the beneficiary's full name, date of birth, and case number.
3. As far as I know, after following the instructions in question 1, it continues like this: once the I-864 appears and you pay it, wait a few days then it will be accepted. Print out the coversheet and barcode (only available after its paid), attach it to the very front of the I-864 package and then email it all off. Make sure you include in the body of the email petitioner's name, date of birth, and email address, along with the same information for the beneficiary. And the subject line should include your case number in it. Once the DS-261 is accepted, the IV bill should appear. Pay it and wait. Once it's paid, print the coversheet and barcode for that one. The DS-260 should then be available to fill out. It's at the same link as the DS-261. Once you're done, submit it. Then email off the DS-260 supporting documents. Again, make sure you have the appropriate information in the body of the email and the subject line. Again, the attachment is one big PDF file with the cover sheet at the beginning. After this, you're done unless you get an RFE. Call up an operator at least once a day to make sure everything is fine with your case.
I hope this answered all your questions. If you have any more, just ask away and I'll try my best to answer those as well. I'm only beginning in NVC, so the process might be a bit different, but from all my research, what I wrote above is how I understand the process goes.
SAYLIN ROCKS!!

Guys, guys, guys!!! We got the same email too! Our case was approved Jan 13th and Feb 8th we got this email! Wooooooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooo the ball has started rolling! Fiiiiiinally!
we got the same email last night too... yay! funny story... i woke up this am irritated, realizing i had just had a dream that i got that email, and i couldn't get the NVC website to open which is where i was going to get my NVC number (not sure we can even do it thru the website, but it was just my dream)... after getting really frustrated with technology issues, i finally got into the NVC website, and found that the case going to the NVC was FOR MY HUSBAND'S BROTHER!! lolol. and not only that, they spelled the brother's name wrong. and the case number started with WIN instead of MTL, which made me realize that our consulate would be Winnipeg instead of Montreal, which isn't even an option! i went completely hysterical in my dream, realizing that after almost 8 months and finally getting to NVC, it was for "Jamey" not "Nick" and TSC didn't even realize that Winnipeg isn't a viable consulate. ha ha ha ha!! okay i can laugh now, but man was i upset!

Contact USCIS and make a formal request to your questions via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). We don't work there.

-
Yes, there have been 28 known approvals so far. Check this spreadsheet out: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AtbvTEwLyHz1dFg5U1g1UGd1RTQwZWF1V09UTnY4dWc&hl=en#gid=0
Hi Saylin - That's great news! We got our NOA2 on 1/24 (email) and 1/31 hardcopy, and I called the automated service today (NVC is closed) and they have no record of my case number... I provided my USCIS case number. A litle bummed. Seemed to go very smoothly for you though, which is great. Do you know if other recent approvals are still waiting for NVC like me? I know some of our November approvals are waiting... wondering about the more recent approvals...?
-
Hey Timosha - did you get your NOA2 hard copy yet? They should be due. Just checking, because we were a day after you in approval.
hey guys, we got our hard copy NOA2 on friday the 28th; approval date & email was the 21st. i called nvc on friday (i'm eager) and nothing yet, but i will be trying again on wed.
-
You could have told me that the reporters are coming to this thread. I would have put some clothes on.
LMAO!!
-
Hi all - Wanted to say hi as well. Got my NOA2 on Jan 21st after 6.5 months of waiting... CSC/TSC. For those who have their NVC case numbers, did you call to get it, or did you get a snail mail with it? I'm planning to call bc I know we need to be proactive, but was just curious if one were not to call to follow up, how is that info communicated - email or snail mail? Thanks!
Jill

Congrats to all of you who finally made it thru this nightmare. I've been watching this thread for quite a while now and really felt for you guys. Unreal! TSC screwed this up bigtime, but thank God they are finally starting to clean up the mess they've made of your lives.
Again Congrats and best wishes for a speedy trip thru NVC.
P.S. For those of you still waiting, continued prayers for a speedy approval...now that it appears that TSC actually does approve petitions.
Hi Magdasal - How did you get your NVC number in 2 days; did they notify you of it via mail or email, or did you proactively call NVC and ask for it?
-
If I remember correctly, there was someone here that got approved and only found out at 12 midnight (EST). Still three more hours, so there's still hope!
that was me... 11:26 pm EST last Friday night... don't give up hope!
-
Val&Gary and Timosha - WOO-HOO!!!!! So so so happy for you guys!! I knew it would happen this week!! You must feel so good! (and I know, a little guilty) But everyone is happy for you, and they know it gives them great hope that everyone here will get their approvals just around the corner. Congrats!!!!
I am waiting until mid-next week to start call NVC for NVC case number and opting in on EP. I know there are concerns about getting smoothly from here to NVC, but I have my congressional liaison working with us and well-aware of the issues, so will keep all posted on how (not "if" since i'm being positive LOL) that goes!
Keep the faith everyone...

such a good point about these articles being about illegal immigrants. i agree we need to keep distinguishing between those who are here illegally and trying to get thru the system, versus those of us who are doing everything by the book. there should be some recognition for the fact we are doing it right.
-
omg some of you need some perspective. Go look at the "California Service Center to Texas Service Center" topic in the forum, and you can see all of us with NOA1s in June/July/Aug were transferred to Texas in November with most still waiting for their NOA2s. That's 6-7 months and still waiting. Those who have been approved, a few of them about 8 weeks ago, are still waiting for their files to get to the NVC, which shouldn't take more than 10 days in normal circumstances. so all of you who haven't hit 5 months and are whining, you need a reality check. TSC is a nightmare and 36,000 people who were transferred have been affected. Why is CSC so fast you wonder? Bc they offloaded 36,000 cases onto another service center in November. so when you see Sept/Oct/Nov and maybe even Dec filers at CSC getting approved, instead of getting ticked off, think about us over here at TSC who are still waiting, while CSC motors on. You're welcome.
