  1. Worked in call centers before I moved here. There was supposed to be a 40K bond on the contract I signed. Quit job before contract ended, they didnt run after me for it. You might want to check with the Department of Labor on that one. Goodluck.

  2. Thanks for your input everyone. I called parents in the Philippines and they will try to get BC here before interview date. God Bless.

My interviewer had the whole package I sent in and even gave me back some things he didn't require so I am sure if you mention it to him/her they will make a copy and give you back the original.

Oh sweet! My parents are sending me a new one, but I would still want that original BC back if I can. Thank you for the reply.

  3. I am currently preparing for my greencard interview which will be on the 20th this month. I do have one problem, I sent my original BC on my AOS application. I don't know how I overlooked such a thing, I mean everything in the AOS packet I have made a duplicate, everything! Except for that birth certificate. I feel so stupid sending them that original BC and its the only one i got. I looked into ordering one online and it said it would take 6-8 weeks for the delivery. I dont know what to do now. My question is, would the interviewer have the packet I sent in on my AOS application during the interview and if so, would I be able to retrieve my original BC and just have it photocopied and give it to them? Another question: Will they deny me my GC if I dont have that BC on my interview? Please I need your input. Thanks.

  4. Lets face it, its a 20 minute video clip worth 13USD, and I havent learned anything I didnt already know. The government want to do this, fine with me, but for them to make it a compulsory thing for a Filipina spouse to leave the country? Thats a total Bull where I came from. They should at least give that prerogative to the individuals, those who wish to attent may attend, those who think its a total waste of time and money may skip it.

  5. PDOS is required for all Filipino emigrants or those leaving the country to settle permanently abroad. The main topic of this seminar is to help the emigrants prepare themselves for settling overseas. Like adjustment to a new environment, how to deal with homesickness, travel regulations, immigration procedures, cultural differences, settlement concerns, etc. 12 years old and below are exempted from attending the PDOS and are only needed to be registered to the CFO Office...

    PDOS Requirement:

    Photocopy of passport biographic page

    NBI Clearance

Fee of Php250 or roughly $5.50

Address: People’s Reform Initiative for Social Mobilization Inc.(PRISM)

2nd Floor Equitable-PCI Bank Building, 2422 Taft Avenue, Manila

    Phone Numbers: (632) 525-3114, (632) 525-3783, (632) 525-4314

CFO Stamp is a sticker, stamped into the emigrants passport. This stamp served as a proof that this visa holder has attended the PDOS and is now ready to travel.

    CFO Stamp Requirement:

    PDOS Certificate

    Passport

    US Visa

Fee of Php400 or roughly $9

Address: Citigold Center, 1345 Quirino Avenue corner Osmena Highway Manila Phils

    Phone numbers: (632) 562-3848,(632) 561-8321 ext. 104, 105, 201- 203

The short story is "they" want to make sure your pockets are empty of PESOS before you leave the country...

ANOTHER BUREAUCRATIC WAY by the FILIPINO gov to suck out of the poor pinoy emigrant pocket another 650 pesos

and that not include the AIRPORT taxes......on your way out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GOD Bless them...........

    Very true!!!

  6. what are the docs/papers that we have to hand-carry during our trip to US that the immigration would ask from us? Do we still need those papers or proofs we presented during our embassy interview? Can't decide whether to bring it with me or not in case needed p pla un for future use. Hope to hear answers from u good fellow VJ members

Only important docs you have to hand carry is the brown/yellow envelope from the Embassy. And your visa/passport of course with the CFO certificate and sticker. I also brought with me all the docs presented at the interview, but I put it in my checked in luggage. Goodluck.

  7. Ay sali din ako! My in-laws are great. Known them while I was still in the Philippines. I love them to death. They are very generous too. Paid for my airfare, paid for my AOS, paid for my birthday party and everything. Even gave us a van for our wedding present. Also, they make me feel so at home here, still miss my family back home, but everyone makes everything bearable. Mother-in-law always pick me up on her days off, we go shopping together, or maybe just hang out in her house and play Mario Kart. Father-in-law is just the nicest dad also.

  8. Sis I have to be very honest with you, but medyo disappointed ako sayo na you have to ask for advise pagkatapos nang lahat lahat. I mean if I were in your situation alam ko na agad ang gagawin ko. Not worth it sis. So gumising ka. Sorry medyo blunt ang reply ko sa post mo, talagang kumukulo lang dugo ko sa mga taong katulad ng asawa mo, na tingin sa ating mga babae parang aso. Goodluck sayo sis. God Bless.

  9. No, the child does not need parental consent from the father as long as she is traveling with the mother and have document that show she is the mother like NSO birth certificate of the child.

Please read the guidelines/rules for traveling minor from the government's website.

This is not true. When I had my interview I met a girl who has a 7 year old daughter (she is from VJ too) who was on a K-1 and K-2 visa. She is not married to the child's father but still the CO asked for the letter of consent from the other parent.

  10. I love this thread. The first phrase he learned was of course Mahal kita. Then he asked me one day what is the Tagalog translation for baby, next thing I heard from him was Mahal kita sanggol (I love you baby!). Now he is really getting good at it. He would say Ako punta kubeta tae, everytime he wants to poop. Ikaw masama babae everytime I am being naughty. And this is my favorite, Mahal kita ng buong puso ko sanggol (I love you with all my heart Baby) and I hear it everynight before I go to sleep.

  11. Very important are the photos of you together, the signed G325 (all 4 forms), hotel receipts or plane tickets of both of you, 2 passport size photos of her, and the signed Letter of Intent to marry within 90 days. The advice that says taking a photo holding a newspaper with the dates very visible is a very good one.

  12. It's a lot easier than most people think.

Get a Checking account with State Farm Bank, they are an online only bank.

    Now you have two options:

    Option 1:

Easiest, ask them two issue to DEBIT cards in your name. They will and each will have a unique number. Don't activate one and mail it to her in a birthday/holiday card.

Once she receives it go ahead and activate it then give her the PIN.

Tell State Farm Bank that one of the cards is for use in the Philippines so they don't block her withdrawls.

    Option 2:

Add her as a joint to your account. This will require a W-8BEN and some work on your part plus you will have to explain to them that she can't be authenticated yet as she's not in the US. It's more work but worth it to have a joint account in the US (demonstrates comingling of financials).

Now have them issue both of you DEBIT Cards, they'll mail them to your US address. Don't active her's, mail it in the card.

Once she receives it you need to make a 3 way call with her on the line to State Farm Bank (man I love MagicJack), explain that she can't be authenticated bah blah, a little work, they'll see the notes, blah blah... The rep will agree to activate the card and she can customize the pin.

Why is State Farm Better than your bank down the street? Well they refund 100% of the ATM Fees! Since they are an Internet only bank they acknowledge your only access to cash is the ATM and refund the fees.

So there you go, Free money Transfer to PH for US!

BTW, wake a note of the card number before you sen it to her, just incase it's lost stolen or "something else" happens so you can easily cancel it.

This is very helpful. I am currently paying over 30$ to wire money to the Philippines.

  13. My fiance just completed her first day at the medical exam.

What can she expect for Day 2?

Is there some kind of interview? She said a lady asked her questions but I thought there was a more in depth one.

Also...will she have a Sputum test or do only certain people have to take those?

Sorry to sound stupid, but what exactly is this dreaded Sputum test I keep hearing about and why would she need one. I read some stuff about it having to to with TB. She never had TB before so is she safe?

    Many thanks

Day 2 is for the vaccination and the release of the results. They don't really release the results to your fiance but she has to sign a paper so they could release it to USEM. Anyway, if she asnwered YES to the question HAVE YOU EVER BEEN EXPOSED TO SOMEONE WITH TB? then most likely she will be asked to go under the TB skin test, even if the lung X-Ray is clear. If she answered NO however, she has nothing to worry about.

  14. I am sorry everyone. It is not I-751, it's I-765 or the EAD, I already updated my signature. I should have specified what I forgot to send in. I only sent 2 passport photos along with the package, I didnt know I needed to send 2 photos each application. Since I applied I-485, I-765 and I-131 I should have sent 6 photos. Anybody here who did the same. And also, are photos important enough for them to send me an RFE. Thanks everyone.

Depends. Yes photos are important. Yes, they will need them. I would imagine they would assign the photos to the I-485 and send RFEs for the I-765 and I-131 which would not cause a delay for the AOS. Or, the I-131 actually uses a copy of the photo you sent (looks horrible) so maybe they will just copy it and let things go ahead OR if things are going along just fine they may forget the whole thing and just get your AOS through in which case the other documents are not needed. It is not uncommon to receive the green card first. We did.

And for all that...they use the photo you have taken at the bioetrics appointment for the green card. So they may just figure a way to work it out with two photos and now you are REALLY confused.

Nothing to do now but wait and see. I doubt you will get an RFE for the I-485

Thanks so much for this reply, this is very helpful. I guess I will just have to wait.

  16. One quick question: If ever there's an RFE, would it come before or after the Biometrics appointment? I sent my AOS last February and I think I forgot to send in something with the package. I am waiting for them to send me an RFE notice but didnt came until now. I already had my Biometrics almost a month ago. Anyone could enlighten me up on this one, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

  17. This is too risky... really... even if your friend knows somebody in NSO to give her a 'fixed' CENOMAR, but what if the embassy will double check it to the NSO?.. tsk! tsk!... Does the embassy double check these NSO papers to NSO? If so she'll get in trouble.

I would agree with what the other people said here.. just cancel the K-1 and start all over again for the K-3. Better wait a few more months than to wait 10 years, or never....

As of Oct 2008 the USEM got rid of what they call document verification, their way of verifying the CENOMAR. Still I will never risk it.
