Umm,..dcnry,..you did get the police check that had a fingerprint check as well didn't you?. because it should of cost you closer to $110, not $60.
Hi Jodee,
Yes i did. I had a police record done seperately months ago the cost was rnd $60 but to get the fingerprinting done and check its $120 which i did get done. You have the option of doing both or just getting a normal criminal history check.
Yes, mine was done on letterhead but the whole thing looked photocopied. I was expecting at least color printing, real signature or even a nicer piece of paper... It's ok.. at least I got it fairly quick so I can't complain too much heheehe !Cheers!
Hi There!
I have had mine Australian Police Record and its nice to know that the $60 or so that I paid for a record check came on a nicely printed, muliticouloured, police sealed stamp. Just to make sure its legit, a police record contains several built-in security features such as the police stamp are "heat sensetive" and will disappear if any heat or friction is applied. The document can be magnified to view certain security imprints. So nothing can be forged or altered. Also the back of the record should have a document number stamped in red.
I have heard many horrfic stories from friends of mine in politics and immigration were police records were fraudulent and altered and instead of those people getting a visa they got a visa to jail for fraud!
As long as you requested it from a police station it should be legit. Oh and it should arrive in a A4 envelope. Apparently no documents from AFP or police are folded!

Thanks Ali. I will apply without fingerprints. If anyone else has any input I will still check this thread!
Unless you have done time or been arrested no dont worry about it.............. But you might as well pay the extra $100 or so for the fingerprinting since a simple police record check in Australia cant be relied on ( we aussies are all convicts in some way
and our Govt loves over charging people for anything and of course lets not forget the taxes we pay to our beloved QUEEN for EVERYTHING we purchase!

Oh, he then needs to complete a one page sheet (which can be faxed) stating approximately when the crime took place, what the charges were and consequences. They also want to know why you wish to obtain the documents. Very simple form. Hope that helps.
Thanks for your help!! I will forward that information onto them!!
Hi There!
Every state in Australia has its own Crimminal Court Office. If its in NSW its the Parramatta court house. You can go in ( after going through security ) and ask the register/clerk there to search his file. Most old cases dating 20yrs back now would be dusted away in a file. Otherwise your best option is to call the AFP ( Australian Federal Police ). In order to get fingerprints etc any police station has to get authorisation from the person and then they will request a file from the AFP. Same applies for if anyone is applying for a visa clearance. Also FYI if you get incontact with your local member o parliament for a character reference that would help alot.
GoodLuck!

Because of the looming chance of being deployed; due to duty type. Can processing of the K1 be expedited? Military usually hold clearances also. Does marrying a foriegn national effect clearance level?
