My husband has recently went for his citizenship interview. During his interview, they asked for evidence of child support (child lives in another country) - we were not prepared with this. Although he does make regular payment he doesn't keep good records (he western unions all payments and has thrown out the reciepts). The mother of the child agreed to write a letter, but we think rather than having her write something up - it would be easier if we wrote it for her on her behalf and she signed it, etc. Does anyone have any templates of any such letter?

Early Bio done today by my husband in Philadelphia. He said he was in and out in 5 minutes, very fast and easy!

How do you know when the early BIO is? I haven't received the letter with the appointment date, so I wouldnt even know what location my husband's BIO would take place.

We are applying for the removing of conditions. I am sending in joint tax returns/life insurance policies/rental agreements, etc.. But I saw that this was a required document. I didnt see that I needed to make a copy of their ID cards to submit with the paperwork?

Hi,
I was going to submit one letter from my sister and the other from my friend to show as evidence of our relationship. Reading on here it looks like most people include their social security number and get it notarized. I called USCIS and they said that this is not required, just as long as they sign to it. I have a lot of evidence to support or relationship and we are having a baby.. I just hate to be a pain to my friends / family, do I need to get it notarized from you guys point of view? Also, do they have to provide their social?

For what you say it might be difficult to get a visa. In that case its important that you state in the letter that you will be taking care of the trip, and that you send them your financial details, instead of the parents. If they're in school that might be a big bonus, that's a good tie to the country.
For the way you write Im thinking you want to bring them to the US and have them stay here? in that case maybe there are other better ways of doing it than a tourist visa...

PS - In any case make sure you state in the letter its only for vacation and that you will make sure they are back in the country to attend school
Thanks for your response, we will try and see how lucky we get. We would love to have them stay on and I have even contacted schools here to see about their exchange programs, otherwise they will need to go back to Chile. They are in school in Chile, we just think this would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for them to see America and as they are young and in school they have a better opportunity of getting a Visa then if they were over 18. We wouldn't have them stay on illegally under any circumstance.

Thank you, problem is their family doesnt have that much money.. They have jobs and have a small house in the country but nothing compared to what we would have in the U.S.. The reason it is important for us is because their mother, was my husband's twin sister and she passed away. Their father raises them with their stepmother. I do know when my husband was my boyfriend a few years ago he applied for a tourist visa just for a visit, he was a Carabaniero in Santiago, and I wrote the invitation letter, etc and they still denied him - due to his age he was 28 and his lack of ties to Chile.. We were hoping because of their age, they are minors, there was some way that I can help them - I will send them the letter I'm sure that will help.. Otherwise I am just scared they will get denied just like he did..

Hi,
My husband and I would like to bring his two nephews over from Chile for a vacation. They are 14 & 15 year old, and I would think it is best if I sponsored them as I am a U.S. Citizen and I am assuming it would be more likely for them to get a visa if I did the paperwork. There parents will sign off on whatever documents necessary. Please let me know what forms I need to submit and where to submit it.

I was the same you, I make well over the poverty line.. I filled the form in as much as possible, as I am worry wart, I also got a letter from my employer which stated my income and the bank provided a statement of how much I have deposited w/in the last year.. All worked out - as he got the visa!

We didn't get his birth certificate translated for the Fiance Visa interview, but you definitely need it once you are married and applying for his permanet residence card..

My friend's husband came over to America on a work visa - they were already engaged at that point, but since then they got married. She's asking me to assist her with some of her paperwork and I was wondering, if he can file AOS? If so, on the I-485 would it be type A - the reason he can apply? Also I am assuming he has to do the full medical exam by a civil surgeon. Does he also need to get a police report from England (thats where he is from), showing a clean record? Anything else that differs from when I applied off of a K-1 visa for my husband for an AOS, then what she has to do as her husband is here on a work visa?

My fiance at the time - now my husband had no issues getting a social security card. Just go to the SS office and fill out the forms, they will send it to you w/ a few weeks. It is just easier to do everything when you have SS card - he also then go a State issued ID card - he'll be getting his license hopefully soon.. It does say on the social security card - Employment Authorization Needed or something along those lines on his card. He had his passport stamped at JFK so that he could work. But def should have no problem going in and getting a social security card.

This is what we included - this is right from my cover letter..
- Payment in the amount of $1,010 ($930 I-485 Filing Fee + $80 Biometric Fee)
- I-485
- Copy of passport page with nonimmigrant visa
- 4 Passport photos
- Birth certificate (Original & Official English Translation)
- Vaccination Supplement completed by an USCIS Authorized Civil Surgeon
- G-325As
- Affidavit of Support (includes I-864, letter from employer, 2008 Tax Return with supporting W-2’s/1099s, and 2007 & 2006 tax returns)
- Evidence of Eligibility – A copy of fiancé petition approval notice, marriage certificate, and copy of Form I-94
- I-765 Application for Employment Authorization
My husband came over on a fiance visa so we didn't send any add'l evidence as we provided that all originally. But if I were you I would send pics, copies of bank account info etc.
Also for the medical stuff - she will have to have a full medical exam by the civil surgeon.

I was checking your timeline and you are also expecting your green card!!! How cool is that!!!! I got my EAD and my AP so I am waiting for the GC!!!! Apparently I won't have an interview so everyday I check the mailbox for the welcome letter

I swear I stalk the USCIS website to see if there are any touches or any news. I am in the same boat as you I shouldn't have any interview as our case is in California. Good luck to you too!!!! I am just ready for this whole visa thing to be over with - it's been consuming my life for over a year and I am just ready to enjoy married life! I'm sure you all feel the same way!

My hubbie is waiting on his Green Card - AOS from a fiance visa. The fiance visa expired in February, but we filed for the AOS in late March.. Is there a problem getting a drivers license? I didn't know if we had to wait until he received his green card before he tried getting his license. We live in Connecticut, any advice?

My husband took the placement test and he is currently enrolled in English classes but they are noncredit classes. They told me to enroll him in English classes I just have to show proof that he applied for a visa. I bet if you showed them that you applied for the AOS & you are currently waiting, they would enroll you.

I met my husband on vacation in Chile, I speak spanish and he doesn't speak English... When he moved to America, he needed to take ESL classes for the obvious reasons, work, friends, etc. Falling in love with someone thousands of miles away from me was one of the hardest things of my life to go through (something I definitely didn't intend for) as it is just torture not being with the one you love. But thank god he is here now, we are married, and now the next step for us to improve our relationship is for him to learn English which will allow him to be more independent.
