  1. Hello All,

I would like to hear your insight about my situation. I came to the US on a K3 Visa last March and just like the rest of you, we want to move on as immediately as possible with getting the other necessary documents from the USCIS to be a permanent resident of the US. Apparently, my husband's business is really BAD this year and we have to file for tax extension. With our financial situation, I am looking at January of 2010 to apply for my AOS so as not to burden my husband so much at this time and just apply for an EAD and SSN in the meanwhile. He is doing everything he can and we can only hope for the best.

My K3 visa is good for 2 years. But will a late AOS application hinder my GC approval?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Hello,

Nothing beats being with the one you love, and after all the immigration struggles that we've been through it's still a bit surreal that we surpassed it.

This process has never been easy. And now that I'm here finally with my hubby, we're moving to the next step- The Adjustment of Status.

I've read the requirements, but I just want to make sure about certain stuff. How many ITR's does the USCIS require? Is it only the current one?

Any insights will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

  3. We are just about to send in our forms requesting an interview for my wife's k-3 visa. We have all but one of the documents completed, the DS-156, which IS required. The DS-156 asks "how long do you intend to say in the US" and "what is the purpose of your trip". We are not sure what to answer. Should we put down the length of the trip as being our next planned visit to her homeland? Do we put permanent (though we plan on living in her home country part of the time)? What about the purpose of the trip. We are married and she is coming to live with me.

Hello, just put in "permanent. will apply for an adjustment of status" for the question on length of stay and "to join my husband in the US (or permanently join my husband in the US) and be properly documented while in the US" for the purpose. what is more important is you have all the necessary documents needed and that your wife can prove to the consular officer the validity of your marriage.

hope this helps and that you guys will be together soon. best of luck!

  4.

congrats and have a great life with your hubby :)

Thanks Lisa! You made me laugh last week when i was super nervous. I didn't need to write my name in my hand or carry a white board with the answers btw. It went well and i was able to answer everything. I think i talked a lot during the interview actually :P

 Im glad you didnt have to bring the board with ya :P

    Im very happy for you!

Yep. Turned out i didn't need it. :P

  5. I've stapled pieces of the various packages I have sent, and then used binder clips to "bind" the package together.

That's no biggie really as long as you organized everything and have the papers ready when they ask. What matters most is that you got everything, stapled or not :)

Double and quadruple check before you head out for the interview. Make photocopies of the documents if possible.

  6.

congrats and have a great life with your hubby :)

  7. Last week, i was so anxious i could hardly eat. Good thing, I had this place to go to and pour out my thoughts and solicit prayers to keep me going.

To all off you who have included me in your prayers, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!

Got my visa yesterday and it went very smoothly-from the prescreening of our documents to the final interview with the consul. I couldn't stop thanking the consul when she told me the magic words "Congratulations, your visa has been approved!". That was like being led to an oasis after a very long travel. The only thing that got me off inside the embassy was the waiting. Jeez! I was there from 5am till 1130am. Oh well, it was worth it.

That was the best feeling i got so far in a long time (other than during my hubby's visits of course ;) ).

I can't thank you enough guys for sharing your thoughts and experiences here.

    MARAMING SALAMAT!

Almost done packing my bags now and waiting for my passport with visa and heading off to my hubby the day after that. Will keep you all posted. (F)

Making this official: March 3, 2009- K3 Approved! Praise God!

  8.

write it on your hand ;)

or bring a board with all the details and answers to the consul's questions  i can just wear it around my neck so he won't have to ask.

    i'm beginning to nuts

at least you can laugh about it.

i just envisioned you walking in with a big board around your neck, just pointing to it as the Co asks questions

it's insane i know. i guess this is what happens when you get too nervous.

i just want March 3 to come so i could be over it already. whew! it's one heck of a journey! :bonk: - i like this icon

  9. our interview is march 1... thank god he has to go and not me cause i'd be so nervouse they would say hi my name is bob whats your name. and i'd be like uuuuuuh i have no idea right now ...lol i just dont like interviews, test ect.

Just really want to drop by and say hello to my fellow stress-filled, nerve-wrecked VJers.

I'm almost there guys. My interview's next tuesday and i've been going through all our papers. I did some research on possible grounds for visa denial and haven't found anything that might apply to me ( i hope i didn't miss anything...i'm not a criminal...haven't been convicted of anything...never overstayed in the US...not a drug user or trafficker...and my hubby did good with his income last year (and some supporting docs for this year's income) ). Oh and i passed the medical exams too.

Just pretty nervous right now. I will be like this until the consul says i'm good to go.

Wish me luck and please include me in your prayers. Good luck to us all and hope that we will all be reunited with our beloved finally.

Pray that my journey too will come to a beautiful ending. (F)

hahahah! funny! yeah i might bring a slip of paper to remind me of my name at least

  10. Breath, relax and be grateful that its almost over :)

    Good Luck!

    :)

I know but i don't think i'll be able to really relax until i am with my hubby. But i am indeed very grateful.

    Whew!

i know..i was typing that thinking..omg, like she can really relax! i would be a nervous wreck! but at least try to relax so you arent falling apart at the seams during the interview

    you will be fine.

I'll try to. OMG i just can't. trying to sort out my papers and i couldn't find the bank receipt of my visa fee. grrrr! so i posted again. good thing someone replied. gotta go to the bank and ask for a copy. uuuggghhhh! :bonk:

  11. Hello,

I can't seem to find the receipt that BDO gave when i paid for my visa. are they going to look for this during the interview or the print at the back of my DS156 is enough?

    Thanks~

    Hi,

Yes, they ( most CO's)will still be looking for the receipt, aside from the validation that the teller made at the back of our ds 157 form..When I paid mine ( visa payment at BDO) the teller told me that if ever I have some problems, I better have to see and go to their office/branch,, so I guess in your case, you better have to go back there also , the BDO branch where U paid your visa fee and ask if they can help you to have or get another copy of ur receipt..Remember that they (BDO) have the original receipt for the visa payment we've made...Hope this will help you sis..

Goodluck and May God Bless us all on our visa journey...

We have the same medical exam date. :D

  13. Hi my name is Robert I am new here and new to this whole process. I am a US citizen from California and my wife is from the Philippines. We were married in British Columbia Canada where my wife is currently working under a Canadian work visa. She has just recently submitted her paper work here in Canada to obtain her Permanent Residence status and was told that it will take her 6 to 12 months to get that status. We would like to start the paper work in the US for her to join me in southern California, but I am not sure of the process and am reaching out to the community of people that are going through the same process. I would like any and all help that I can get on this matter. If any one can contact me on my e-mail it is mindrack123456@yahoo.com Thank You Robert and Lordelynn.

Welcome Robert! if she had just submitted her papers for Permanent residence in Canada, i'm not certain if you can file for a US visa for her right away until she gets her permanent residence in Canada. But at least she can go with you in CA for a visit, that i'm pretty sure of.

Anyway, you might want to contact the appropriate agencies of the government of Canada about this. You can start with that to sort out her Permanent Residence in lieu with your intention to file for a US visa for her. Good luck!

  14. ok guys. We know its f'd up. I havent been able to even see my husband in over a year. i would be happy to be able to visit.

the point is..someone always has it worse. some ppl havent seen their SO's for YEARS.

You know love you guys, but I think she gets the point now :D

    To the OP,

please understand that some of us have waited WAY longer than 4 months and its like salt in the wound to see "VSC is working fast" in the k3 forum.

I agree. Peace out! Please move the post to K1. The process is faster (this i still don't understand) if you're a fiance' than a spouse (!!!).

People here have been through a lot and are still going through this dragging process. Empathize if you can't sympathize. Add a little bit of sensitivity and lot of respect.

Please post where it is appropriate. :bonk:Peace!
