  1. Hi all,

I am ready to send out my naturalization package. Before that, I really need to get these questions clarified. I have been married since 2005 and have been PR since April 2008. In part 6 and 7, I was asked to list where I lived, worked, and traveled for the last 5 years. Should I just list the places I lived, worked, and traveled for the last 3 years? Sorry if these questions sound really stupid.

YAY~ I am on the list too (\^o^/). Ling...I don't I have been helpful to you (or anyone) :P

I just try to be supportive. Don't forget to give me a call when you get through this and arrive in the US.

  4. I have to agree with Matt about military expedites.

To all of you who are complaining that you cannot be with a loved one sooner because an expedite does not apply to your situation - deal with, suck it up and move forward with life.

You fell in love with soldier, not matter what service he is, it his job to be away from you. You cannot change that. So deal with it!! I am a USAF wife and I have dealt with it. My husband hasn't been delpoyed and will soon be getting out as there are so many wonderful opportunites in the real world. We have spent some time apart. And my husband even missed the birth of our first child because we didn't know the exact day he was to be born and he couldn't get leave right away. He has missed a total of3 months of the 18 months of our son's life because I had to leave the US after 90 days. And he wasn't even deployed and he still missed a lot.

Yes it was difficult but deal with it. You will soon see him again. Sorry, if I sound harsh but you chose this life, so accept it or move onto the next guy.

Thank you for your opinions. But I don't think any of us is unable to deal with the stress. Everyone here is trying to deal with all the difficulties that come with the military life and deployment. I, personally, married to a Marine reservist, who joined USMC right after 911. Yes, he wanted to do something for his country and he did. Signing up to be a reservist, he has been on active duty for almost 5 years and been deployed 4 times (3 times in Iraq). During his military life, he has always being getting deployed, being deployed, and just returned from deployment. Yes, when I met him, he was already in the military. He had a great civilion job, but the military life has impeded his civilian life. I hated it when he had to leave. I complained when talking with my friends. However, this doesn't mean that I don't deal with whatever that comes in my life. From talking to some Maine wives, I know that all of us hate this. I mean who wouldn't? That's why most people are not getting re-enlisted. Military expedite is the least the government can do for us. And all the foreign military spouses should try this route. After all, they decide whether to prove it our not.

Complain about it when feeling mistreated. And of course, we still move on and deal with all the difficulties. In this little corner, we support each other. Being supportive is the least we can do.

  5. request to expedite my application was approved on june 12 ( due to incoming deployments )

    just got my NOA2

Congrats! Not too far from getting it (\^o^/). I love seeing good news! Hope you will enjoy your time with your husband before he leaves. What part of the US are you moving to?

Ps. I miss Sarah~ this thread needs her. (A lot of things have happened on this forum during my trip to Macau ><") Some people are not really friendly on this forum.

But anyway, Wish every military spouse the best and keep the good news coming.

  6. Well guys .... I got approved today!

Thank you for all the support you have given me so far.

Just to let all you military spouses without deployment pending, looming or current, expedites are not impossible .....

You must involve the Commander (the higher up the better) and a Senator and apply for an expedite under National Interest.

Mine was backed up with Financial and Humanitarian, but I know that they didn't really bother reading past the Colonel's letter stating the importance of the expedite.

Of course no expedite is guaranteed, but my case shows that it is possible.

Everyone in the military regardless of rank is very important to the mission .... the mission being the protection of the United States (whether they are deployed or not) .... this comes under National Interest.

Now, I'd better get my ####### in gear for NVC

    :dancing::dancing:

OMG! It's so good to hear that, Sarah. Congratulations! So I guess we were right about the good news :) kool

  7. Hi I am Hilary and I am married to a soldier in Jamaica, I just have quick qustion for you guys what is a military expedite? And can it be used for a jamaican soldier? I already got his approval letter just waiting on nvc.

I don't think military expedite will work for you since it's for American military members. Sorry that I don't know any better.

  8.     SARAH JAYNE YOU ARE NEXT

I'm being a bit of a good vibe ####### today but I have everything crossed for you getting your approval this week

    xxxx

Yes...Sarah...I am looking forward to your good news! You are the sweetest person ever on the net. How can you be so sweet and informative? I gotta learn that ( "Taking notes...").

  9. Hi MarineBaby, you're so great!!! Ph.D!!! OMG-I think I have to spend all my life to get it. I am 1 year older than you, a quarter of a centry already... Mmmm, you and Sarah and Bex will be in Atlanta... I will be in Louisiana - not sure which city yet, cause my husand want a quiet place to live in... sometimes quiet will be nice, but sometimes it will be horrible especially when I am alone...

And I just got email noticed me my expedite request was approved!!!

    Take Care

    Ling

WOW, that is such a Great News! Congratulations! Please share with us how this came about. A lot of military spouses will need this information.

Louisiana is not that far :). My husband and I used to live in Mobile, Alabama for like 6 months until he was activated. We went to New Orleans from time to time :). But ..yeah... quiet place can be REALLY BORING sometimes. That's why you need girl friends :).

  10. Hi MarineBaby, how are you? So now you are already in the states? I don't get on here for a while, and today, when I get back here, I saw a good news from BexandAlan, that's so wonderful!!! I am so happy for her. Last time your case got approved, and today it's Bex's case... Wow, I am so looking forward for tomorrow!!! :star:

    Ling

Hey Ling ^o^ I am pretty good. I am not in the States right now. In fact, I was just there for a week before my husband was deployed. Now, he is in Iraq for the third time, so I think I can handle myself better now. I am back in my home country in Taiwan. I will move back to the States in July, preparing for schools to start. I'll begin my Ph.D. this fall at FSU in Tallahassee FL. So, Sarah, I won't be too far away from Atlanta (like 4 hours). Don't forget about me when you and Bex are going to hang out :).

Ling, I hope your case will go through smoothly. Try all likely and unlikely approaches to expedite your case. Good luck. BTW, I saw your picture on myspace last month. You look great :) I think your about my age...I'm 24. Am I right?

  11. Hi everybody, I hope you guys have a super day.

I got married with an american on 25th of April 2008, my hubby right now is in service; he is in the army and now he is working in Iraq. I had to come back home; thailand, till he comes back to States which is on May or April next year. I lived in the US for 1 year with a J1 visa. The J1 visa required me to stay at my home country for 2 years. Right now I've applying for a J1 waivers 2 years rules and as well I was planing on applying the K3 visa after I get approved the waiver one but I've been reading and looked up online about it and now I'm confused about CR1/IR! and K3. I think I know how it is different but I'm just by myself and I don't know where I should start.

    Thank you for your assistant!!

    :'(

I am with you. My husband is in Iraq now, his forth deployment and the third trip to Iraq. There are some other military spouses on this forum. Visit "US Military Spouses" thread if you want to.

There are other military spouses there that are going through the same thing. If you have any question during the process, especially related to military, drop a line there. Everyone will be happy to help you.

  12. Hi to all! I am also a military wife who just got married and im happy to all find you here.

Question: My husband is PCS overseas(Qatar), we just got married and he is leaving in a month back to US. Can we apply DCF since he is stationed here for 11 months now?

Any input would help. Thank you.

    Net

Try DCF...It is your best shot. And maybe the embassy can expedite it for you. No matter what, it is still way faster than going through USCIS. Good luck ^o^

  13. Hi ladies!

I'm going through the k-1 visa process right now with my Fiance. We filed in early Feb, but we recently found out that he will be deployed. We have ask JAG and the mil. hotline about the expedite but weren't given any help in doing so. They said that all we could do was wait. Does anyone know anything about the expedite?

WE are also thinking of just voiding the k-1 ( breaks my heart.. all that work and waiting!) and just getting married in Canada a few months before he is shipped off. While he's gone, I am going to Korea to teach English and thorugh that that would be the perfect time to apply for the k-3 in Korea, while my hubbie was away.. so hopefully when he comes back, I will be alloed in the states and we can start a 'normal/ life.

Any ideas about how to make the expedite work, or if there's some huge red flag on my second option of the 130/k-3 thang?

    Thanks!!

How does your second option work? I'm kinda confused here :)

May I ask where your fiance will be shipped to? Korea?

During my process, I didn't find military helpline very helpful as well.

The man who answered the phone was pretty mean. Too bad we couldn't remember his name :)

I hope you will find a good way. :)

  14. Hi Sarah, Jamericanlove, Ling, Ruby_Jade, and Paris Heart,

How is everyone doing? Now it’s time for me to share my little VJ.

Let me start with how I got into this insane situation. I was a graduate student in the US when we got married before his second deployment in 2005. Because of some personal reason, we didn’t file the petition. We could have done this without any pain two years ago.

But anyway, because of some family emergency, I flew back home in January. None on us realized that I would have a hard time to get a non-immigrant visa until someone told me last month. We were so devastated when we found out how serious the situation was. I probably would not be able to come back to the US until 2009. But I had to come back to the US ASAP. Fortunately, I found this forum and found out something called DCF!

We understood that my husband had to be a resident to file I-130 in Taiwan. But since this is the fastest way, we still decided to try it. In the first two days, we had no way to contact the right person. He called American Institute in Taiwan (AIT)… they hung up on him. He called the base legal … they said we had to wait. He called military help line…they said they couldn’t expedite our petition because we had not filed I-130 yet…As you could see, none of them was helpful. At that point, my smart hubby decided to write AIT an email asking for help. Meanwhile, he found the number of Taiwan desk of State Department. The gentleman gave my husband the direct number to the immigrant unit at AIT.

He called and explained the situation to the lady answering the phone at AIT. She told us she knew of our case via the email my hubby sent and she would let her boss know. On that same day, the unit chief called and said he would do his best to help us file in Taiwan. But because my husband could not leave the US to file I-130 in Taiwan, the chief had to make sure if this was within the boundary of law. On April 7th, the chief let us know that my husband could fax his I-130 first and then send the original one and the rest of the supporting documents to him, and I could hand in my part in person. So my hubby filed I-130 on the 9th. And I handed in my part on the 14th.

In Taiwan, there are only four hospitals that can conduct medical exams for immigrants. So it is not easy to make an appointment. But when I was there on the 14th, he had his people make an appointment for me and ask the hospital to have my result ready on Thursday (17th). I did the medical exam on the 14th and picked up my result on the 17th. I had an interview Friday (18th) and received my IR-1 3 hours later. I flew out on the 20th. This is what my hubby and I did not expect. When I was there for the interview, one officer there told me that they had never spent so much time on any applicant. But thanks to the chief, I made it here. He was so willing to help. Because of the time difference between Taipei and Washington (12 hours), he had to call Washington and wait for their response in his office late at night. We greatly appreciate his help. He made this happen.

I don’t know if my experience provides any helpful information. To those whose husbands are getting deployed, maybe you can try the DCF route if you have valid reasons. If the consular is willing to help, things can be done way faster. Good luck to all of you.

  15. Hi everyone,

I just found this forum and thread about 3 weeks ago when everything seemed to be out of control. I got into that situation because my hubby (a marine) and I were too lazy when we first got married two and a half years ago. We filed I-130 last Wed. and I just received my IR1 yesterday. As I am writing this, I am getting ready to go to the airport when i get up in the morning. It took only 9 days for everything to be done! And we did not have any of the documents 9 days ago. I am really thankful because I did not know I would have a chance to see my hubby before his deployment. I hope all of you will have your cases done smoothly and fast. I will post my unbelievable, at least to us ^o^, experience when I arrive in the US.
