  1. Hi all,

I need some info here. I'm currently gathering all the documents for AOS (including EAD and AP). My I-94 will be expired on May 3, 2009. My question is, would it be a problem for my AP (eg.: can't re-enter to the US) if I apply after the I-94 date expired?

I read somebody's reply to a post that is similar to mine, and they said that it could be a problem for the AP. I'm married within the 90 day since I came here and got my SSN already.

    thanks for your reply:help:

  2. I took my own photo w a digicam (with help of tripod & set d timer, if you could have someone to take d pic of u on a white background, it would be great) and use this site: http://www.epassportphoto.com/ to make the correct size of US passport photo.

I have read the 'Passport picture' guidelines (which have been a great help, but I was just wondering how many of you all just took your own pictures w/a digital camera and without professional equipment or whatnot. Also, how crucial is a little facial hair? Lastly, included in the 'proof of having met' I was going to paste a few pictures on a word document and put captions below them. Is this okay? or do they have to printed on film specified paper ect.. Thanks!!
  3. I think that 7 months isn't enough time. Everyone I've talked to goes through a really rough patch when they come here. I would ask her to take more time. Then I would make sure that she can talk to her family as much as possible, long distance. Help her make some social connections here. Disclaimer - I only know this second hand. since my fiancee is not yet here (but will be soon).

I mean this in the kindest way - but you need to accept the fact that life does not go as planned...

Good luck to you and yours, I hope things work out.

    Bob

  4. I think she is talking about the documents that the consul gave back to her aside from the brown envelop HAOLE, these includes the photos, iteneraries for the trip, emails, letters...inshort these are the evidence of relationship....

yes, correct! ;-) thanks for clarifying! ;-)

did you bring them along to the US, and were they needed when you arrived at POE and when u apply for AOS?

The instructions on the envelope should tell you to bring them with you to the US and turn them over to the officer when you enter the US. They are then returned to USCIS. They are the original immigration file and will be used by USCIS during your AOS process and retained permanently.

excuse me, did u mean that envelope is the brown envelope that must not be opened until POE? If so, I understand that I should bring that brown envelope. The docs (or should I say proofs) that were returned after getting d visa has no envelope or instruction on what I should do with them.

As an aside, this is one of the reasons I advise petitioners to tone down the tonnage of papers they send with the petition. The immigrant is going to need to carry them onto the plane when they come to the US.

thanks lot for ur reply :-)

That's up to you and your fiance. I thought you were talking about the sealed envelope. Some may be needed and some may not. I would certainly bring back any "originals". If all this is duplicated in your fiance's files at home, anything but orignial official documents can probably be destroyed.

.. thanks a lot for d info, pushbrk! and thanks to others who replied!

  6. I'm wondering what did you guys do with the documents returned by the embassy when you picked up ur passport & visa?.. These documents are the one that originally sent by the petitioner to USCIS when filing for K1 (e.g.: phone bills, itineraries, letters, etc).

Should I bring them to the US??... will I need them again at POE and when I file for AOS?..

The docs are quite bulky.. so I thought if I won't need them again, I will just leave them at home :-)

thanks for ur reply & have a wonderful New Year :-)

  7. Hi there :) this is what my fiance (USC) wrote to question #18 on I-129F form:

    hope it helps :)

    happy holidays!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18: Has your Fiance(e) met and seen you

Dsd and I met at an ________site in April of 2007. Since then, we have corresponded via mail, e-mail, phone, internet, and text message. I took a trip to Jakarta, Indonesia to visit Ms. sd in October of 2007. During this trip, we traveled together to other parts of Indonesia: Puncak, Bali, and Yogyakarta.

In January/February of 2008, I traveled to Jakarta. From there, the two of us embarked on a trip to various locations in Thailand (Bangkok, Krabi/Railay Beach Area, and Phuket).

The attached documents provide proof of our ongoing relationship. I have attached documentary information for my trips in 2007 and 2008. I have printed itineraries, bank and credit card statements showing ATM withdrawals, and transactions for hotels. I have also attached copies of airline boarding passes (when available).

The packet also contains phone records showing (primarily) text messages to Ms. SD two phone numbers: +62……. and +62……. I have also attached a statement from my long distance provider (www.onesuite.com) for calls to Ms. SD. Please note that we use Skype (www.skype.com) and yahoo messenger (messenger.yahoo.com), for much of our voice and video chat, since they are free. I have attached screenshots showing my skype history of chat with Dsd (handle:______).

I have also attached a small sampling of e-mails that we exchanged, as well as copies of two cancelled envelopes/cards that I received from Ms. SD at my home address in VA.

The attached plastic bag contains photographs of the two of us, taken on the aforementioned trips. It also contains passport-sized photos.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

  8. Anna's interview is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST tonight (December 7), which is 7:30 AM Thai time on December 8.

(Of course, I doubt that she will be interviewed at exactly 7:30...)

No cell phones are allowed in the embassy, right? I think she has to leave it in her car and call me when she gets done...

Nothing to do now but wait... and clean my house.

right. No ear piece, no flash disk either. basically, no electronic devices allowed.

Best of luck to u guys! :star:

  9. I was given back my marriage certificate and my birth certificate - everything else they kept.

In fact I could see my file through the window and there was no sign of any of the photos we sent to USCIS - I bet they just throw them away after the approval!

Well, I'm talking about the photos that my fiancee is taking to the visa interview... not the ones we sent to USCIS. She is taking her album with 50 photos and hoping they don't keep it.

She's also taking 1000+ pages of chat transcripts... that contain a bit of personal info :innocent:

Did you take documentation of this sort and they ended up keeping it?

They returned the photos that I brought for the interview. Also, when I picked up my passport & visa, they returned the photos that were sent to USCIS.

  10. let's face your fears why do you think you'll not pass???

b4 i apply for tourist visa and got denied and now im here again for another interview

than  ks i know i have to face my fear i can do this

thanks i know i can do it

thanks you i know GOD will help me

    thanks

    when is your interview

:) you will be fine. I got denied for 2 tourist visas (Nov 07 & May 08). The CO didn't ask about my denied visas at all. Also another VJ member whose fiancee got denied for 3 tourist visas, wasn't questioned about it in her interview.

Best of luck to u! :star:

  11. you can add an attachment to explain about the address etc. On the form (questions) that have not enough space, you can write: see attachment. Then on the attachment letter, make sure you write the question # before you write the answer.

That's what my fiance did  Good luck! :star:

    Hello all

i have a question on what should i do or put when i try to put in my fiance address in the spaces that listed but there is not enough space to put it all in?

    on form I-129f

    part B #2

    #13

    #15

    THANKS

  12. I will fly to the USA soon and my concern is how much baggage I can carry with NWA flight. How much would it cost if I have an excess kilos of baggage? What tips can you give with my upcoming travel? Thanks a lot!

are you going to have connecting flight (domestic)?.. please note that you will have less allowed baggage weight once you are flying in domestic flight.

    have a safe trip! :star:

  13. For the biographic information, or G-325a forms. I had to attach a separate form to include all my work information. Do I have to put, one attachment behind each of the 4 forms or am I allowed to just put one attachment from at the end of the 4 pages?

Looks like the 4 pages go to different places and if so I'd put the attachment on each individual sheet.

I have the same thought as Haole, so I put an attachment for each sheet. I had no problem.

  14. Heya everyone :)

I was just wondering of the beneficiaries... how do your parents/family take it when you tell them that you're leaving to the US? Do they take it in good stride or do they object?? I'm just wondering how I should talk to my parents about it :/ They basically told me to think it over carefully coz they don't want me to regret in the future. They want to make sure that I'm totally serious about it. They're also very worried about me not getting a job over there since the economy is not looking good... I'm working as an engineer in the oil & gas industry at the moment...

Anyways, I would like to know your stories... how do you cope with leaving your family and how do they take it?

    Thanks :)

I'm the beneficiary here. I know every culture is different in every country. As for me, when I felt that my relationship with Rob is getting serious, I told my dad everything about him, also possible of me moving to the US once we decided to get married. That was a year before I & Rob decided to take K1 route. It is important for me that Rob is 'accepted' in my family, and so is the reverse cos Rob is very close to his parents as well. Of course my family is concerned about how I'm going to 'survive' in d US (getting new job that fits me, adjusting to weather, making new friends etc), and so many what ifs come up. I think the best way is to be flexible in any circumtances. We can't force the situation to be what we like/want to. It's your decision to be with your loved one, hence you should be aware of what might happens.

If you show your parents that you are ready to face the real life and how you will take it, then I think your parents would think it's time for them to let you go on your own way.

best of luck to all of us :star:

  15. not sure if it's the same in every country, but the DS forms that I got in packet 3 are:

DS-156, DS-156K, DS-230, and DS forms for medical exam: DS-2053, DS-3024, DS-3025, and DS-3026 which you only need to print out and bring them to the clinic.

DS-156 is actually the same form that you need when you apply for tourist visa. DS-156K is the accompanying DS-156 as you are applying for "K" visa. DS-230 is about your biographycal data.

    Hope to have helped you.

    Good luck :-)

  16. hi all, I got packet 3 sent to my fiance's email address today

He is considering to get a new employment letter as the one that he has now doesn't mention that he is a permanent employee, though it states in the letter that he has been working in the navy (civilian) since 1987 and mentions about his salary too.

Problem is, if we wait until the new employment letter to complete, it will only arrive to me around 2.5 more weeks (takes time to get the new letter).

My question is, should it be okay to just use the employment letter that doesn't mention whether he is a permanent employee or do you guys think that we should wait for a new letter that mention about the status of his employment??...

Thanks for any advice u post ;-)

p.s.: we never got any letter from NVC that they have received our petition from USCIS. So, from NOA2 hardcopy, then jump to packet 3 in my fiance's inbox.
