  1. Hi, Everyone,

It has been a long time since I visited here, I need some advise on what to do when traveling before or/and after filing Romoving Conditions.

My GC is going to expire in July 2011, and need to file removing conditions between April and July 2011.

I want to go home to see my family and friends, and now I am planning to go in Feb 2011 or July 2011, so my questions are:

    1. Will I have any problems coming back here if I travel in Feb, due to GC expire in July 2011. (from what I understand is that you need to have a visa or GC that's good for at least 6 months to travel back to the US)

    2. How long does it take usally to get the condition removed and receive a new GC? My best friend's wedding is going to be in July and I really want to attend.

    3. If I remembered correctly, when I went for my interview last time, The officer told me that if I did not receive the new GC before this one expires after I filed, I can go to the USCIS to get my passport stamped which allows me an extension of 1 yr. Is that correct?

Thank you all for your answers in advance.

Good luck to all that's filed for removing conditions already.

  2. We went for our interview today, and got Approved..... we were nervous at the beginning....... but the officer was really nice, and he is still on training so there was another female office with him, and she was really nice too......

Good luck to all of you who is still waiting for the approval.... it will come... really soon.

  3. Dear all,

what should I do, I have filed my AOS in Feb, and have received my AP and EAD, but have not received anything concerning my GC, only the 1st NOA. I have checked my status on line, but it was not updated since the day I took my biometric, even with my EAD.

I have called the service number, and the person told me that my case is at the DC office and they still have 200 something days before they make any decision, so is anyone else experience the same thing if your case is at DC office??

I am so worried right now.

    Good luck to me,

    thanks

  4. I am really glad that it went really smoothly.

    Good luck to everyone.

You don't have an SSN or card yet, so just being about to submit an application isn't reason to start dancing. Getting a document translated can sometimes take a while, but they can use the passport in place of the BC to verify your age if the translation is going to hold things up and did your status verify? Did they say you will be assigned the SSN and issued a card?

Yes, they did say that I will get my SSN and the card in 2 weeks.

  5. Hello, all VJs, a little update about my situation now. I went to the SSN office in VA today applying for my SSN, I had no problem, I had my passport with me and a translated birth certificate, however, the lady told me that they only accept translations issued by the US embassy which I don't have, so it was fine, and I was called to the counter and that's it. If I want to change my name after the marriage, I will have to go back to the office again.

I am really glad that it went really smoothly.

    Good luck to everyone.

  6. Hello all VJs, now I am in the process of filling out all the AOS forms, however, would like to know if there are samples to follow just like all the K-1 forms.

Thanks for answering. If there is no sample to follow, I'd like to ask the following:

    1. I-485

    a. Part 1, Current USCUS Status and Expires on, what should I put?

    b. Part 3, Place of Last Entry, should I put my POE which was Detroit, In what status did you last enter? should I put K-1 Fiancee?

Nonimmigrant Visa Number, I put the 8 digits number on my visa

    c. Part 3, C section, what is this exectly? I put None.

    Thanks for the helps.

  7. Are you flying NWA? I live in DC and flown that route to/from Taiwan many times, so here's what the process is like:

Once you leave the aircraft, you will go down to the customs entry point, it's a really wide area with lot's of lanes, just look for the visitors lane.

    1. Customs Checkpoint 1 - CBP officer will inspect your travel documents (passport, I94, etc), take a photo of you, scan your fingerprint, and give you instructions about the K visa, once finished, proceed into the baggage claim and claim your bags.

    2. Customs Checkpoint 2 - Once you have your bags, proceed to the second Customs checkpoint. This is where you have to provide the CBP officer the DHS declaration form, depending on what you declare, you may or may not be pulled aside for secondary inspection. The officer may ask you where you are coming from and if you have anything to declare. BOTTOM LINE: Be Honest. Once you pass this checkpoint, proceed to the TSA Checkpoint where you will be able to re-check your bags for the flight to DCA

    3. TSA Checkpoint - Remove all metal items as well as your shoes and any heavy outer clothing and put them through the X-ray. If you have a laptop, remove it from the bag or case and place it in a bin all by itself for the X-Ray. The TSA officer will want to see your passport and boarding pass for the flight to DCA so have it available when you go through the checkpoint

    4. Next Flight - After you clear the TSA checkpoint, proceed up the escalator and exit into the NWA terminal, if your flight to DCA is NWA, it will be in the same terminal, if not you should check the Arrival/Departure screens for specific terminal and gate.

    5. The Terminal - The NWA terminal is basically one long terminal, there's a rapid rail system at the upper level that goes from one end to the other with a stop in the middle (where you exited). There's plenty of shopping and food in that terminal. Check the Arrival/Departure screens and find your boarding gate for the flight to DCA and then you'll be on your way !

Just a quick question for you, how long was it between the time you guys got the NOA2 and the actual phone call from AIT for the visa interview and did you get the visa the same day as the interview? my fiancee will be coming over on the K1 as well, our petition was approved 12/01 so she's just waiting on the visa interview. Anyways, congrats and have a great trip to DC !

Thanks for the detailed instruction, it's really helpful, and yes I am flying to D.C and my fiance is living in Arlington.

it was like a month and half from the time we got our NOA2 til the time I had the interview. AIT will send your fiancee a letter informing the time of interview. The visa will come 2 days after the interview by courier. Good luck to you guys too.

  8. Yves and I, we met when we were studying abroad in Switzerland and it was 6 years ago, it was amazing, and was kind of love at first sight. We are really excited that the happy ending is coming soon...... I'm having my interview on 11th Dec. Plz cross your fingers for us.

Good luck to every VJs, our love will over come everything.

  9. Hello, dare VJs,

I have a question, I know it's a bit early to ask since my interview is on 11th Dec, if everything goes really smoothly, after the visa is issued, I will go to Washington D.C., and there is no direct flight from Taiwan to D.C., I'll need to change flight in L.A. in order to get to D.C., so, in this case, I will need to present the envelop that I'll get from the consulate to the POE in L.A. right, or who would it work??

Thanks for answering, and it's really appreciated.
