  1. From what i know, since it's an I-134 affidavit of support-so a regular one- the sponsor can be anyone. And i think I read that somewhere too. It said that in the case of I-134 it's enough to be just one sponsor, even if it's not your spouse. There's no need of co-signing. Plus, i called the US embassy in Bucharest, Romania and they said a friend of my husband can fill it out for him if he doesn't meet the financial requirements. His friend needs to prove that he's an American citizen (a copy of his birth certificate or naturalization certificate) and he needs to submit the tax returns. That is what i know.

Hi YuAndDan. Could you tell me where did you get your info from? Thanks!

  2. Hi, did you get the RFE notice from USCIS by mail? What does it say? Do they ask for more evidence that your relationship is a bona fide one? I don't think this is what the RFE is about. The evidence that you sent already should be enough to prove that in this stage. Probably it has something to do with the way you filled out the forms.

For instance we got an RFE because my visa photo had a darker background than bright white and the dimensions weren't exaclty the size they requested and because on the G-325A form under question "list the names of former spouses" we put N/A instead of none,so we had to refill that form.

We got the RFE on March 17th (we saw that on line), we got it in the mail on March 21st. We sent the response on March 25th. On April 7th we received a notice on line that they got our response and that the processing of our case was resumed and they gave us a 60 day deadline for them to make a decision in our case. But we were lucky and on April 15th we got approved!! But the RFE sure caused an one month delay. :(

    Good luck!

  3. We sent affidavits sworn by friends, photos, a few yahoo messenger conversations, print screen of our email inbox, some emails and some copies of the plane tickets and we got approved. I have this feeling that sending photos where they can actually see us together, makes the processing more personal and faster. It might be just a feeling,i don't know...But include some of those in the package and make sure you have everything by the book. Any mistake that you do right now will cause you to get RFEs and, by definition, huge delays. So check 10 times before you send in the paperwork!

    Good luck!

  4. Hi John,

I'm a k3 beneficiary also...or at least i'll be after i go to the Romanian consulate for my visa. From what i know, your financial situation doesn't matter for the K3,because anyone can fill out the I-134 Affidavit support for you if you don't meet the financial requirements. I called the United States embassy in Bucharest today to ask if a friend of my husband's can fill out the affidavit of support for him. And the lady on the phone said yes. So, i think you're fine. Good luck with your debt though!

  5. Hi guys,

We are September filers also. We got both of our petitions approved on April 15th at CSC. This is how our process went, for those of you who are interested:

Sept 11, 2007: USCIS receives our I-130 documentation

Dec 28,2007: USCIS issues receipt for I-130 petition

January 2008 : we receieved the receipt by mail and sent the I-129f documentation

January 17, 2008: USCIS issues receipt for I-129f

February, March: on line updates for our petitions

March 17, 2008: USCIS sends us RFE to replace the G-325a form and the passport photos

March 25, 2008: we sent the requested documentation and according to the mail tracking they got it on March 26th

April 7, 2008: case resumed, they give us 60 days to make a decision in our case

April 8, 2008: on line update for I-129f

April 15, 2008: on line update for both petitions

April 16, 2008: we received an email from USCIS saying they approved our petitions on April 15th!!!

From what i noticed it's all about the people working on your case: how old school they are, how fast or how slow...A friend of mine applied in November and she got both of her petitions approved on April 02. What else can i say?! Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug...Good luck to all of you who're still waiting to have your cases approved!

  6. Hey Madie, thanks for the reply.

    We'll just wait and see.

How long of a delay did this cause for you, a few weeks?

    Cat

    Hi Cat,

Sorry it took me so long to reply. So we received the RFE on March 17th(according to the website date) and we received it in the mail on March 20. We sent our response back to USCIS on March 25th and according to the mail tracking they got it on the 26th. But USCIS got back to us only on April 7th saying that this was when they got our response and that the processing of our case was resumed and that it'll take up to 60 days :( for them to make a decision. So, again, waiting is the name of the game...sadly.

    Good luck!

  7. Hi Catt,

I don't want to scare you or anything but you might get an RFE for n/a question. We did and for the exact same question: they point out that n/a isn't an appropriate answer and that we should put "none" instead. But i guess this depends a lot whether the person who's going through your file is old school or not. I hope you'll be lucky and you won't get an RFE, cause yeah they do cause delays.

Unfortunatelly i don't think the call will get you anywhere. They won't change the information in your file or put an explanatory note in it just because you called. Not even if you write them a letter i don't think it'll make it in your file. Unfortunately again, if something is wrong with your file you just have to wait and see if you get an RFE or it gets by unnoticed.

As someone said before: "waiting is the name of the game with USCIS". :clock:

    Good luck to you!

  8. Hi Krinky,

From my own experience i would say you should put his domicile where it asks for his permanent address on the I-130 form. But on the G-325a i think you should list all the places he has lived for the last 5 years not just the domicile. We made this mistake (we put just the domicile on the G-325a form) and we got an RFE on it. Oh..and when you fill out the forms make sure you avoid using n/a (except for where it's really the case)...just use none (for instance where it asks you about former husbands and you've never been married before).

The process for you might be a little different if your husband is in the military, cause you said they'll contact him first. I don't know.

But as a general piece of advice, check the forms 10 times before you send them in and make sure you have everything exactly how USCIS wants them. Any initial mistake will turn into unwanted delays.

    Good luck!

  9. Hi guys,

Has any of you got an RFE (request for additional evidence) so far for the I-129F? We got one on March 17th and they were asking us to resubmit the G-325A form (we used n/a in the boxes where we should have put none and the passport photos for me (the background was too dark).

We mailed the RFE response on the 25th and now i'm nervously waiting to see what's gonna happen next.

I'll keep you posted in case any of you is interested in the outcome.

    :energy:

Our case information are the following:

    I-130

    - 01/14/2008 - hardcopy of NOA1

    I-129F

    - 01/17/2008 - NOA1 receipt

    - 03/17/2008 - USCIS issues RFE

    - 03/25/2008 - we mailed the response to RFE
