I am about to send off my application, how did you keep all the pages together? Did you bind it the same way the removal of conditions was sent it, with one of those 2 pin folder things, that you put through punched holes, or just a big clip??

I am sending off my application in a few weeks and would like to hear from fellow applicants who had to wait for the 5 year timeframe. I was one of the immigrants whose marriage unfortunately didnt work, so I had to wait a little longer to apply for citizenship.

What I am looking for is a list of supporting documents you sent in with your application so I can cross reference them with what I have. I am just trying to get all my ducks in a row.

You can retain your SA citizenship when you apply for US citizenship, but you HAVE to put it in writing before you apply for your US citizenship that you want to retain it, or you will lose your SA citizenship.

I think it says it on the card holder itself, I filed about a year ago, so I am just going by memory, but I do know you have to include that. I just made a copy of it by the way, I wasnt going to part with the original, and it was fine

Hello ROC Filers, one thing I didnt see in your list of things to include in your package is a copy of your green card (front and back) and you have to include the little card holder that your green card was sent in. Hope this helps.

Planning your cermony is all going to come down to the state/city/even county you are going to get married in. Here in San Francisco, we got our marriage licence 5 minutes before we were married. In case you didnt realize Valentines day falls on a Saturday this year, and so most if not all govt offices will be closed, so if you are set on getting married on that day you are going to get someone who is a registered officiant who will be able to marry you wherever you choose. As for what to wear, what ever you feel most comfy in.

Griffon64, I am confused as to why your original drivers licence was only valid for one year? I am also in Cali (the bay area) and when I got my licence it is valid for 10 years. I am also from SA by the way

If you are looking for private insurance check out www.ehealthinsurance.com Plug in all your details and it will give you a list of available insurance providers for your state. It isnt cheap finding your own insurance though. Good luck.

Because that is the type of argument the prop 8 supporters try and bring up, saying if gays are allowed to marry then lets just allow anyone/anything to marry, if they want to marry their dog why cant they They dont have any solid arguments as to why gays shouldnt be allowed to marry, just that it threatens their so called sanctity of marriage

If gays are allowed to marry then the processing times for immigration visas will be longer for all. That alone is a reason to support proposition 8. )

I renewed mine earlier this year through LA, took about 4 months, which wasnt that bad. Tell her to wait until she does the whole name change and then do it then, it will make life much easier. They were very helpful in LA by the way

I am not sure you are understanding your co-worker saying his family got 10 year visas. What they mean is they got a 10 year multiple entry visa, which means they dont have to apply each time they want to come out here (for the next 10 years) but they can still only stay here for the length of time that is stamped in their passports at the POE. My parents get a 6 month stamp each time they come out, they also have 10 year visas, but I know of others whose parents only get 3 months stamps, it all depends on how the officer is feeling at the POE I guess.

If you are sending a letter to a couple who are married, but have different last names, the envelope should be addressed to each of them on separate lines - alphabetically.
