  1. By reading these posts it happened to encourage me to ask this, since I could see that things like that happened to others too. I'm completly lost, devastaded and affraid of what might happen to me. I've been granted with my CR1 visa last month and right after that my husband and I got separated and I really don't know what is going to happen from now on or about our future, I really don't know, but I'm affraid of going to US, cause right now we're no longer together. We got married in October, 13th 2006. Anyway I still want to go to US, even if I'm not going to live with him, I don't even know if this is a definate situation between us. Anyway, I'm afraid that he goes to immigration and tell them that we're not together anymore and at POE I face problems with the IO.

Since I've married I've stoped working because we both agreed I should spend the time I had left here with my family before I go to live with him, we didn't think it would take that long to get my visa, we're far from knowing that it would take that long and it seems time and distance ruined our relationship. Now, after almost 2 years married to him just counting down the days to be with him, waiting to live a life with him, our dream was about to come true, I feel moral, emotional and prophessional harmed by his decision of breaking us apart. He had this same atitude last year (2007) in August and we staied 5 months apart and got together again in January (2008) and now he did the same a few days after I got my visa in July.

I have all the evidences that we had a bonafide marriage, over 3000 emails, lots of photos with friends and family together, wedding cards, letters from him, joint bank accounts here in Brazil, a power of attourney from him to me to fully manage bank accounts in Brazil.

I don't want to start my life here since I've been waiting for so long to begin a new life in US with him and now since itwas his decision not to stay with me anymore and at least I want and feel that I have the right to choose how and where I should live. We're not divorced and I don't know if we will..I don't want to give details in here because it's painful to me doing so, it's not being easy to deal with this situation right now, but I don't his decisions after 2 years of my life dedicated on us to determine now that I don't have options and don't have the right to choose what I want to do with my life now.

I'd be glad to read any advices, good or bad...just don't want anyone judging me because I think and feel that I have the right to choose where I want to live now. Just a reminding that things like this happens to couples that were in love from the begining...unfortunately it happened to me and my husband!

PS: He's an american citizen now, but he's also a brazilian citizen borned in the same city as me and we first met 17 years ago when we were teenagers and dated for 2 years, he left to US in 1991 and we met each other again in 2006 and got married here in Brazil 4 months later. And I have evidences of all this.

    God bless you! :help:

  2. LadyJane, the quote at NVC guides is really misleading, that's why everyone gets confused about it. We have to make this question very clear to everyone, as far as NVC guides, that quote must be properly understood and it says the if it is in english or in the language of the country where the visa is being applied to, then you don't need any translations...it might be a bit confusing due to sentence construction, but 000 is right, I've sent all my documentation to NVC all in portuguese with no translations and never got any RFE or delay in my process after DS230 entered their system in order to be completed. If you ask all the other applicants who sent documents with no translations, you'll get the same statement from them. But of course, there are many who misunderstood the guides and did send translations along with the documents and of course that didn't hurt the process at all, it won't be a problem if you do it but it will be a waste of time and money if you hire a translator.

I never called my embassy to find out what NVC would need from me, acctualy it does't make any sense calling the embassy to find out about NVC requirements, besides you also have the option to find out on NVC website clear instructions for every country which, by the way, are the same for all of them as long as it is appointment post and that's where you find that quote about translations under the conditions in bold above. I called my embassy to clear some doubts when I was informed that they've received my case to make sure what I was going to be asked for the interview.

000, I wish you all the best on your up coming interview on August 15th. It's a great feeling when you leave that building in Rio de Janeiro, with the sensation that you're finally done with NVC, embassy and that your visa is on the way!! It's finally a victory and that sensation makes you really proud because we all know what we've been through to get there! So good luck to both of you and God bless you all in this journey!! :star:

  3. Good deal , did you use the express mail system? I heard that they give you the option to express it and you can have it in a few days but 4 business days isnt bad either. Congrats again

Yes, I did, Rio de Janeiro consulate uses TNT which is an express mail system. I've paied R$40 for this service and they inform you that TNT takes 6 business to deliver it, but in my case it was delivered many days earlier. TNT has also an option to pay R$200 so that you can receive your visa in 24 hours, of course, after the consulate expedites the visa which theoricaly happens in 48 hours, but I believe mine just took 24 hours to be expedited and TNT just took 2 days to deliver it to me, so from interview to visa delivery just took me 4 business days.

Thank you and good luck to you! :star:

  4. Hi 000!

For some reason, I could not reply to your email so I'm answering it in this topic.

My interview was on July 7th, I came back home on July 8th and was expecting to receive the visa next week by July 17th or something, since they told me that they would take 2 days to expedite my visa and TNT express mail would take another 6 business days to delivery it to me. But for my surprise I've received it on July 11th afternoon, preatty soon!!! It took me 4 business days to receive it.

    Good Luck!

  5. Hi everyone,

Just here to share with you that I had my interview yesterday and it went out just fine, a very nice lady just asked me a few questions, I believe it took at the most 15 minutes. She didn't even ask me to see our pictures, anything. I was prepared to show her a lot of evidences but she didn't asked me for anything lol. Here's the questions she made:

    1) What is your husband's full name?

    2) How many times I got married?

    3) How many times he got married?

    4) What's his ex wife's name?

    5) Why did he get divorce from his first wife?

    6) How did you 2 meet?

That's all she asked me and it was a great feeling to hear that it was all perfect and fine for her to grant me with the visa!!

Thanks for everyone's help, you made this journey a lot of easier for me and I think that everyone in this forum going through the same share this same feeling!! God bless you!

    Virginia

Congratulations!! Do you get your visa right away?

Also, did you say that you did the interview in Portuguese?

Yes, my interview was really quick, it took 15 minutes at the most and she just let me know that I was going to receive my visa at home in 7 business days. And yes, my interview was all in portuguese.

  8. thank you guys. so much... yes virginia i didnt see anything under phlippines for the biographic data needs to be notarized so i didnt thanks u so much guyz.

Well, that was not real in my case, I had mine and my husband's birth certificate notarized as requested by NVC. It was also in their website but I do not have the link saved. But if you submit a non notarize one all ready, maybe it's fine.. the consequence is they might request a notarize one in the future and could make the process slower. However, maybe it's a case to case basis.

This is my personal account regarding my case. :star:

Hi blairbitxh, sahaman's inquiry is about whether or not passport biographic data pages need to be notarized, not about birth certificate. Passport biographic data pages don't need to be notarized, while birth certificates do need to be certified by issuing athority.

    God bless us all!!! :star:

  9. Virginia, it would be good one email per week in your case. There may be a printable view link somewhere on the page to take the print out.

I don't think you should postpone your interview just for 2007 tax return docs. You have all other documents such as joint property doc, letters, emails, photos etc. He has filed I-864 and consulate will have that original too, so that will have 2007 tax details too.

    Good luck Virginia (F)

Thank you Loto. Thank God I've just received the package with the tax return and a lot of evidences that will help a lot.

    God bless us all!

  10. I don't know if their is a big emphasis on e-mail and phone records. As I was reading through the post interview experience I haven't seen anybody saying they where asked to show the e-mail/phone record ….. this info is very crucial if you are applying for a K-1 fiancé visa but for CR-1/IR-1 … I don't know … I am planning of screen printing the inbox page that list all the emails received form the spouse ….

Humm I see, that is a good idea, thank you anish and lijy!! I might do that as well.

  11. I'm counting down the days for the interview, just 7 now...so it's excitment, fear, joy....so many feelings around this moment...we're so closed, I'm so nervous, but when I think that God knows what this is all about I feel peace, that's how I deal with this all!

Good luck in your up coming interview, wish you all the best and God bless everyone's interviews!! :star: ...

Virginia (F) , first of all good luck to the upcoming interview

    God bless us all !

Yes, we have only 1 day left for the interview

Kalkas, how about your wife's interview ??? Please please please post here...

ok.....just got time to post now. She was there on-time and everything seemed fine. The CO officer asked all sort of questions about me and how we met and how we communicate since i never visited since we got married last august (she showed him our DAILY phone records talking on avg more than hour a day). He asked many detailed questions! she answered all ok.

Then at then end he gave her a slip asking for two things:

    1. Since I was married in the past in the U.S., he wanted to see the original divorse document although he has a copy that I sent with I-130. That is something that was not requested from NVC nor did i thought they would need it. Anyway, I just got back from DHL at the airport, so the document on the way to my wife.

    2. The doctor has missed one vaccination (forgot what is it called) that is required recently for ages 16 to 26. I guess the doctor wasn't thorough or he did not have an updated list, because CO told her that is a new requirment!!

They told her to send the information to the consulate and once they receive it and review it they will give her a call to have her bring her passport!

so, here is our story, not a good one today. I never though they will ask so many questions. The good thing that everything they asked her, I went over with her.

Now back to the wait mode!!!

I have the same problem, I last saw my husband in January 06, 2007. He's been not able to come visit me me since then, so we talk by phone, msn, emails, see each other trhough webcam every day. The other problem is that we don't have his phone records since he buys phone cards to do his calls, so I don't have this proof. I can only print our emails, but I was thinking, how should I print these emails, I have over 2000 emails back and forth, should I print 1 for each day we had in contact or 1 for each week??? There will be a big amount of paper if I have to print them all...lol...so what should I do? And of corse I have photos, thousands of them, wedding photos, honey moon, family meetings, Christmas, travels together...we bought a house in Brazil after our marriage and it is in my name and the document states his name as my spouse, so I'm taking this document too as a proof. My husband is a brazilian too, from my town, but he moved to the US 19 years ago, so he's an american citizen now), since we dated when we were teenagers (18,19 years old and I don't have photos from that time together, just a letter) and at that time he moved to the US and we lost contact for many years, but from time to time I received letters from him, even when I lived in London for 8 months back in 1991, I have this letter that I received from him there, post cards received in Brazil, etc...So in June of 2006 we met again and got married in October of this same year...I have loving notes that he used to spread hidden randomly in my home every time he was living to the US so that I was to find them after his left...

My concern is how should I print or emails? 1 per week maybe, to avoid a big amount of paper, it will be too havy and they won't have even time to read them all anyway...lol...

But, guys, my main concern and maybe my nightmare at the moment is that my husband post the 2007 tax return to me on June 24, he paid U$35 for a faster mail and so far I haven't received it yet and I will travel to Rio in 2 days on Thursday and my interview is next Monday, but I have to go on Thursday case my medical appointment is on Friday morning. To worsen the situation I've read in the today's local newspaper that post offices have started a strike today...can yo imagine this...I feel my mind is going to blow up...I was fine till yesterday hoping that this mail would arrive today and it was a normal delay...but now I don't know what to do at this point...I went to the post office today, there are some people still working and postman had left already but hasn't showed up here yet.

If I don't get this document by Thursday morning (I'll keep going to the post office till then to check), since my flight to Rio is in the afternoon and will cancel everything and will try to postpone my interview getting a interview new date from consulate. I can't think of anything else. Need your prayers!!

    Any thoughts?? thanks guys!!

    God bless.

  12. Check below what are the supporting documents to be sent with DS 230. Don't forget the 2x2" pictures with beneficiary's name and case# on their back. As soon as they receive full documentation, they will start revewing your docs and they may take from a few days to 2 weeks to complete your case. The last package to be sent is the DS 230, so if now they have all the missing documents, allow a week or two to hear your case is complete. But of course, call them every day to do this checking.

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

    God bless. :star:

  13. Have you sent all required supporting documents along with form DS 230? If after revewing your docs they assume it's everything in accordance to their requestments, you may hear case complete in a few days. If you don't get a "request for further evidence" (RFE), usually take from 2 days to 2 weeks to be completed, that's what timelines in here have been reflecting...but in case you get a RFE, it can take longer.

My Ds230 was sent on May 5th, entered into NVC's system on May 10th and got case completed on May 14th.

If everything was Ok with your docs, I believe they are about to annouce your case is complete.

    Good Luck! :star:

  15. "Document Requirements

The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to submit the following original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity). In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents."

For appointment posts these instructions are the same for all countries, so an original or a certified copy is accepted. A certified copy issued by the issuing authority. So, she can proceed taking certified copies to the interview. :)

  16. I called local consulate and they told me that I would just have to take the copies, since they have the originals from NVC and that we would exchange documents at the interview so that they would keep only my copies, but I feel safer taking a new set of originals, including police certificates and a set of copies just to avoid problems. I've received this letter and it reflects they have received the originals I sent to NVC. But taking another set of originals to the interview is my call.
