Congrats, Katululu!
I don't think Boston offers same-day oath ceremonies, so I am getting ready for all the grand pomp at Faneuil Place. I know for sure Boson holds 2 oath ceremonies per month...

My online status never changed from "PENDING". I am waiting for my interview now.

Woo-hoo! My interview letter arrived today - It's 8/27! What a great present right before the fireworks!

Wow, Tushar! Excellent job, thank you for taking the time to keep track of all the updates.

Road-block in Boston... I had biometrics on 6/6. I called USCIS today to inquire about my name check status, much like some of you did. The rep said that USCIS does not disclose info on name checks. She basically read whatever was available online in the Case Status section. She also said that normally USCIS does not post biometrics dates in the online case status section.
What say you, guys? Touch luck - try another rep? Or just sit tight and wait?

Hello guys, I see we are all still waiting for the Interview Letter... Which local office (under the jurisdiction of VSC) do you think is the fastest?

That's it - we've made it to Star Status now
. My case number also has a *.
Anyway, here's my report from the Biometrics Appt in Boston. It was at 1pm on a Friday. Short and sweet. I showed up only 5 min early, thinking they would make a big fuss about it, but there was absolutely no line. Barely half a dozen people in the entire waiting area. In and out within half an hour!!!
I can't wait for my interview now. Oh, and don't forget to pick up a copy of your civic questions brochure when you get to you bio appt.
Cheers,
BostonChick

I got my fingerprinting letter today, so I'm adding that date to the list. This is for VSC.
Can the other folks from VSC post a biometrics report, if applicable? Thanks, everyone!
PS. Sorry for the format - I coudln't figure out how to change it.

Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know my check was successfully cashed. It took 8 calendar days after the package got there.
This is for VSC.

My N-400 package arrived last Friday (May 8), but my check hasn't been cahed yet! I am starting to worry a little... I realized I made the check payable to *Department of Homeland Security", forgetting to add *US*. Do you think they can return an application just for that omission?
-
I didn't wait to obtain the 2007 tax transcripts (anyways, can you do that so early in the tex season?!). I submitted tax transcripts for 2004, 2005 and 2006, and a copy of the 2007 tax payment check. It has both of our names on the check.
-
I am joining the May group too! I just sent off the package today. I wonder if we are going to be done by the end of the year???
I am with the Vermont Service Center.

Hello forumers,
Can you please post checklists of the documents you submitted in support of your citizenship applications? I am due to apply in January! (Can't wait)
Many thanks!

I can't imagine going to an oath ceremony in anything less formal than a suit, crisp shirt, tie and leather shoes!!
-
Hello all,
In the event of a medical procedure which necessitates long-term home recovery (as in the case of bone marrow transplant), can USCIS come and interview the citizenship candidate in his or her home? Also, can the candidate take the oath ceremony at home? If not - how long can the ceremony be postponed for? Can it be postponed for a year (which is the recovery period specifically for the transplant procedure)?
Thank you all in advance!

I think it's 1/22/07, plus or minus a couple of days. You too should be hearing soon, I should think.
Good luck!

Thanks, Warlord - that's very helpful info. I have found all your US citizenship posts to be extremely useful.

Yeah, I don't know about patience any more. It looks like my well of patience has been exhausted. I've been here in the US for 9 years already - first on a student visa, then on a work visa, then a green card. I'm anxious to wrap this up! I think I'm pretty much ready to become a citizen, at least from a cultural perspective - but that's not what counts.
Boston Chick
-
Meredith, I believe you are better off applying for citizenship right away. This way you will cut your total wait time. I would take any of the few shortcuts USCIS has given us - in this case, the option to apply for citizenship before the conditions have been removed. I think USCIS itself realizes how slow it is (sometimes, most of the time?), which is why it has decided to permit this overlap in timeline.
Boston Chick
-
I wouldn't worry yet. USCIS is not the best oiled machine, if you know what I mean. If it's been more than 2-3 weeks though, I would definitely give them a call. I know how nerve wrecking the wait is.
I can't believe how LOOOONG it's taking them to process the I-751s.
Cheers,

Hmm, here's my question. Once I have sent out my N-400 form and done my biometrics, can i actually leave the US to embark upon a study program in the UK? Of course, I plan to be back for my interview. Can you think of any potential requirement that stops me from doing this? All the requirements for continuous residence etc. I can think of are in relation to the pre-N 400 application period, is there anything I'm missing>
Thanks,
Boston Chick

Yes, in fact I am hard pressed to find any reason for not becoming a US citizen...
