Hello everyone!
I just want to make sure before my mom's flight this Sunday. Are there any fees need to be paid at the airport? I can't recall anymore. She kept telling me during her PDOS that there were certain amount that they need to pay, I just want to make sure the exact amount as I can't recall the first time I flew to USA (2008).
Thank you!!!

Hi!
I have a question regarding my friend status. She came here in US with Tourist Visa but met someone during her stay and both wants to get married. Problem is, she's still legally married in Philippines but has been seperate with her husband for 5 years or so now. If they get married her, will she be able to file for a spousal visa? Or will she be asked to go back to Philippines and be asked for a Cenomar from NSO?
Thanks!

Awww thank you to both of you!!!
she will be flying next month. Woohoooo!!!

Just checked my Mom's visa status this morning and it changed to Issued. My husband and I are very ecstatic that our waiting Ang guessing game is over. After all the stress and dilemmas we encountered since day one.
Thank you everyone for all the informations you have share in this group.
Especially to you Hank, you were such a excellent help for me. I really appreciate all the informations and encouragement you have given me.
Thank you all! God bless!

My mom just finished her interview today. She's under AP as well. I received an email without requiring any additional documents. It stated like this...
WHAT TO DO NEXT:
* WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR FROM US: Your case requires further administrative processing/review. Wait for a letter instructing you what to do next.
Should I be alarmed?

Hi, I have the same problem with my mom.
She is using a current name(Cheryl)that is different from her birth certificate.
Her name in my birth certificate(Ma. Theresa) I'm guessing it is the same name that she uses in her birth certificate.
My sisters birth certificate says that my mom is using the Cheryl name.
All her supporting ID and school records are in Cheryl name.
She said they didn't change her name legally. They just change it when she enters elementary school.
We still have to check her marriage certificate on which name she use.
Now, I am the one petitioning her to come to the US.
Is it easier and faster to just follow the name in her birth certificate?
(keep in mind that my birth certificate says Ma. Theresa as my mom)
We are still in the first step of getting her a passport. Then I can start doing my petition for her to come to the US.
I had my mom's name fixed before I applied for any legal documents such as passport or petitioned her. Her birth cert from NSO should matched to any legal supporting documents she has. Such as her name registered on my birth certificate. It usually takes 3-4 months but luckily we knew someone that works in civil registrar in our city and had it all done within 2 months. The legal name she has been using doesn't have Maria but when she received her NSO BC she found out that it has MARIA.
Make sure all the names, dates, etc in every supporting documents matched.
Good luck!

A short one. Good thing my mom knew someone from NBI. I asked her to go yesterday and she said she was asked by her friend to come back on Tuesday as it will be ready for her by then. I hope it'll be ready by Tuesday. She will be flying Wednesday to Manila for her interview the next day. Ugh! This gives me nothingness but stress since day one
but I'm glad it's almost over

You should have time, my mom asked for NBI clearance with AKA it would have been release the same day if she doesn't have hit. It always takes her a week to get her NBI because of the HIT. Just make sure they print the AKA since they missed it the first time we applied.
By the way do you need to bring police clearance other than NBI clearance?
Police clearance is not needed as long as she have an NBI. She had a HIT on her NBI the first time she tried to get one. But that was clear up. She renewed again last March and for the same reason she was asked to come back instead of releasing it the same day. ugh very frustrating

Please help! I'm freaking out right now. I just got an email from US Embassy Manila for my mom stating all the requirements she will need to take with her on her interview. One of it really catches my attention and making me worried. It stated
CLEARANCES
- National Bureau of Investigations (NBI) Clearance issued within the past 12 months for LUISA CASTOR EMBILE with NBI A.K.A. for MARIA LUISA PAHUWAY CASTOR EMBILE.
The name with "Maria" is what appeared on her Certified birth cert from NSO. We had it fixed though. I paid lawyer and did all the legal procedures to fix it and change it to the name she used for her 59 years of existence.
If I ask her to go get a NBI clearance with AKA, i don't think it'll make it on her interview which is next week (May 26,2016) I'm worried they might send her home and come back when she gets one with AKA
What should I do? Please help!!!!!

Please coach your mom to tell the truth. If she doesn't know the answer then tell the CO "I don't know". Explain to her to keep her answers short and to the point. Don't volunteer information if it has not been asked by the CO. It can do more harm than good.
Yes, that's what I told her just a simple yes sir/ma'am or no sir/ma'am. And yes if she's not sure an i don't know would be fine. Just putting a lot of stress and anxiety on me coz she gets really nervous...and cause problem ! Haha
My friends parents were asked Where is the petitioner working and spouse, what is the address, when was the last time they saw them. Simple questions
We are going to Phils and will be there during interview. I plan to go with my parents during interview. Do you think embassy will let me accompany them?
As long as you have your passport, I believe they'll let you in especially you're the petitioner and a us citizen
-
Thank you! I didn't think about pictures. My mom gets very nervous and anxious real bad that's why I want to give her some clues what they may ask her next week.
Thank you!
-
Yay congrats!!!!

My mom will be having her interview next week (Thursday) for IR-5. I was wondering if you guys can give me any ideas what are the questions being asked during interview?
Thank you!

Hello! I had that issue with my mother's NSO. Her name and birthdate didn't match. I had it fixed before I started filing my petition for her. Embassy will only take a certified birth certificate from NSO

Evaluation with the Psychologist is by appointment due to the doctor's availability. The same reason that people hate the psyc eval since it spells DELAY of 1-2 weeks. If they set that on May 24th - that is May 24th.. so if you wanted it earlier you should call SLEC for that to squeeze your Mom to earlier schedule if there's any available slot. There is no walk-in for that evaluation.
She got it and done! Her friend said just waiting for her vaccination. That's the last message I got from her
-
Not difficult. It's by appointment. So check their website to schedule one.
Fee is Php400.
You need to bring orig and photocopy of your passport.
Orig and photocopy of 2 valid IDs.
Visa (if you already have it)
You can attend it before, during or after the visa process.
Before you get your visa: you attend the seminar and get the certificate after, but you come back later once you already have your visa to register and get the CFO sticker for your passport
When you already have your visa: Just show them your passport with visa, register, attend the seminar and get certificate and sticker after.
Locations: CFO Manila, CFO Cebu
Flow:
1. Fill-up form
2. Take your photos
3. Individual interviews
4. Seminar proper
5. Payment and release of certificates
You can't leave Philippines without the sticker as they will look for it.
This is only for a half day seminar right? You can take this seminar even you haven't gotten your visa approval yet?

sorry to hear that! my parents will do their medical monday and tuesday, hopefully they will pass and I"m the one getting nervous right now.
I know
it's unexpected. I hope she will be able to get it done today. If not, I have to rebook her fought for next week. Coz I want it done before the interview. 24th of May is way too close. I already booked everything. Ugh!
Nothing to worry or stress about... your mom should relax, it is just a moment in time.
Thank you! They're there but not sure if they can get her in as the schedule is fully booked.
-
You would be a first, that I know of, if your mom got in early for the evaluation.
Thank you! I will update you whatever the results will be Tm but I'm hoping a better result as she's too worried and stressed right now
-
Will SLEC change their appointment for this?
I'm not sure. They missed their flight tonight due to that. So I had to rebook her flight. They're flying back home may as Well try to Go back to st lukes tomorrow to see if they'll take her before heading to the airport. She didn't get her vaccination because she has to take the evaluation. It's stressing me out. Lol
What's next? Please help!

Hello po!
My mom arrived last Sunday. Now, I'm preparing to apply for a green card for her. Can someone please tell me how much does it cost and where to go? Thank you!
