Hi everyone!

I'm not sure if anyone has the answer to this question but Luciano and I realized that our lawyer listed his name as Luciano Rangel da Silva instead of Luciano Rangel Fernandes da Silva which is the name on his passport. Of course our lawyer is moving his office this week and may not respond according to the automatic responce email I received so I wanted to know if anyone has had a similar situation? Will Lu will run into a problem when he gets to the interview and has a passport with an extra name on it?? Are they gonna send us back to Vermont to recheck him?? (ahhh noooo!! lol)

MrsGomes - I can't remember off the top of my head which office Lu went to for the medical but they were very nice there. The woman at the desk even rushed his paperwork for him so he didnt have to make the trip out to BH twice (he lives a 5 hour bus ride away in coronel fabriciano) I will ask Lu when I talk to him tonight and get back to you!

Brian - that is so weird to think that chances are our packets were sitting in the same box gathering dust together! so glad our turn has finally come!!

Acobnamia - Looks like you were in the same box after all!! congrats on your approval!!!

I can't believe the day finally came!!!!! Lu saw that we were touched this morning and that beautiful email came in to my inbox at 5:45pm!!!!!!!!!!! of course it happens on my first day back to work all day so Im just finding out about it now but thats okay!!!!!

For sure were going to see a lot of partying in here this week I can feel it! Everyone waiting...just keep your spirits up. I know ours were very down recently but once that email comes nothing matters anymore and IT WILL COME!!!

Best of luck to everyone and THANK YOU to everyone for being here on this chat and helping Lu and I stay sane through this crazy process its been a lifesaver.

Are you going to Rio for the interview? Have you ever been to Rio? Does Luciano know anything about the medical and vaccines? I wonder if I could start doing that before getting the NOA2...

Yes the interview is in Rio, I believe all Brazilian K1's go through there. I have spent my fair share of time in the Rio International Airport in passing but never been into the city - I would love to be able to go there one day though! it looked beautiful from the air! Lu has already taken his medical exam in Belo Horizonte at one of the approved civil surgeons - they said the exam is valid for one year so he could take it any time. He got the vaccines while he was there because they were free but we're pretty sure that its not required while hes in Brazil because of the medical stuff thats required for a marriage in the states so you can go either way with that i guess. ahhh im still just over the moon im so excited I keep reading the email over and over again!!!

Well, I got my approval today.

Actually, it was emailed to me at 7:45 PM, on July 3rd. I really wish that someone else had received it before me. Don't get me wrong, I am not giving it back.

But, I know how stressful this has been for some really super nice people here on our April thread. I really hope that a boat load of approvals arrive this week for everybody.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to drop in and say that according to VJs timeline Luciano and I are officially "in the zone" for our application to be approved!!! Supposedly it should be sometime between July 6th and 13th so lets hope this is true and that with it comes lots of approvals for everyone now that those Vermont guys have had their fair share of burgers and hot dogs this long holiday weekend!

I dont know about the rest of you but it seems like the closer we get to NOA2 the less possible it seems that it could actually be happening! maybe that dosnt make sense but I feel like we have been waiting for so long for this letter that we couldnt possibly actually get it. Well....I guess I just really want to see some good news after this dry spell of no approvals in almost a week.

Fernanda - Yes I did meet him at Carnaval! I loved everything about Bahia! He spoke a good amount of English at the time and I spoke no Portuguese at all and he helped me buy a drink with no ice hehe and the rest is history so they say

....and another one!! NOA2 possibly from June 25th (its listed as July 25th... ) who got their NOA1 on April 1st!!

I just got back from visitng with my sweety in Brazil for a month & I guess I'm checking IGOR/VJ/USCIS even more that usual...I know I should be so grateful that I had the chance to be with him for so long during this process but it was such a tease I just want him to be here with me so we can finally get our lives started together

Another approval from March 31st!!!! slowly but surely were getting there April!!!

Johnabis was touched on Friday so it does appear we may be on our way... hopefully we'll see them approved on Monday along with all the rest of March and then we can expect to see several early April approvals this week as well. All of you with early April dates stay strong... it's got to be real soon! Curse the USCIS for dating my noa1 a week after they got it!

I have a question on a somewhat related note...does anyone have a grasp on the process once the fiance gets to the states? i.e. how long it is taking now to get the work authorization, and at what point in the whole process can he get his SSN/drivers licence?

My case has not been touched for almost 2 months, does that seam odd to anyone or is that normal? anyone else have that same problem?

we haven't been touched since April 29th so were almost at two months as well. I dont know what that means or if its odd or not but at least were not alone! just waiting.......

Question for you all about these "touches" again...(sorry maybe I just confuse easily )

Where exactly do you see that your case has been touched? I have been checking by going to the USCIS and putting in my receipt number and looking at the page that says that my case is received and pending and nothing else has shown up on that page so I assumed that no touches had registered yet. But tonight I went to the page where you can actually log in (not just check the status through the case status search but use the logon name and password i set up) and I see that under "Last Updated" it says 4/29/2008 which is after my original filing date of 4/3/2008. Is that a touch??? does it not show up under the regular case status search?

Not to worry. A touch really doesn't mean anything. A touch means they scanned the barcode on your file for one reason or another... could be anything... even if they just went to lunch. It seems some adjuticators/workers scan more than others. You can only tell if you're touched if you check your date on the uscis website. You will not receive an email. Read this thread if you're interested in learning more about how it all works.

Thank you, and Alex&Rachel for your information! I was under the impression that it had to register some touches before it was approved and was waiting to see these start showing up before having any hope the NOA2 would come. sooooo we wait...some more!

Is it unusual for them not to touch a case until soon before they approve it? i see so many people who were touched within a week or two after submitting and still nothing for ours...its been 20 days so far. i just really want to know that it is WITH someone and not gathering dust in a closet...ahh!

My fiance is from Brazil, too.

We just filed last Monday (4/21) and are waiting for our NOA1

It will be interesting to watch if our "journeys" /timelines are similar -since

we are both filing in Vermont, and our fiances are both from Brazil.

I just found this thread and was so excited to see that there are other april filers out there keepin up with eachother! i think this site is amazing for bringing a little piece of mind to a crazy situation...and for sure i could use a little piece of mind! we got our NOA1 on April 10 & were just hoping that this 2ish month trend at VSC will keep up! what do you all think?

My fiance just told me that out of the list of the vaccinations, the only ones she needs are HPV, Hep. B, and Meningitis. I can't believe the price for this stuff in Brazil, she told me that the HPV is 3 vaccinations each R$500 which is about USD$250 and the others are R$120 which is about USD$60. I had no idea they were this expensive. Does she need to get all 3 shots of the HPV while in Brazil or can she get just one there and the rest here where it's cheaper? Oh wow I'm shocked here I had no idea. And I know that she needs more medical stuff during the Adjustment of Status right? What will that be?

from what i have read she can get them after she gets here unless they require for her to get them thru the usa embassy in her country...........i could be wrong

I was under the same impression from talking to my lawyer...I could be wrong but I believe that there is no need for immunizations in Brazil because they can be completed in the United States during the ajustment of status stuff.

I have been looking though posts and graphs and polls on this website for about a month now since my fiance and I started this process in February and I would just like to say that it has been extremely helpful! I am curious as to what the officers are looking for at both the service center (in my case Vermont) and at the NVC? I thought at first they were just checking to see if we have a relationship but I have also been hearing about background checks and such. I am confident that these should come back clear but was wondering if anyone knew precisely what it is that they are doing over there while we are anxiously waiting!
