  1. My wife's Green Card was approved today and is in the mail. She's going back to Japan for her friend's wedding on Monday and has a travel document to use. Now, however, her Green Card has been approved but she probably won't be able to bring it with her because it hasn't arrived. Will her passport and travel document be OK? Is the travel document even useful anymore now that her Green Card has been approved? I would assume they can look her up and see that her Green Card has been approved on their computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  2. i wrote my fiance's name in kanji. she has a very difficult name to write, but i did the best i could and the visa was still approved. i'm sure you could write it in hiragana if you want.

she also kind of freaked out because she read somewhere that she needed to include her birth certificate. we didn't include hers it and it was fine. she will need it for the interview at the embassy in japan, though.

  3. I'm sure it would still get there because of the postal code, but you probably don't want to forget to include the prefecture after the city. Tokyo's a prefecture as well as a city, right? (sorry I lived in Kyoto and only went to Tokyo once for sightseeing).

  4. Hey,

I'm not an expert at all of this, but I do know that you should put the address where she will want her package from the U.S. gov't to go. If it's a K1 visa she'll need to be in Japan for her interview, medical check-up, and background check, so I would put the Japanese address.

As for the I129F I just filled it out as thoroughly as possible. I didn't use a sample from the website. If you have any specific questions about the form I'd be glad to try to help. I read through it 2 or 3 times more than I thought I needed to, to make sure I didn't miss anything.

It's been about a year and a half since I lived in Japan, but I think the address should go: the neighborhood/cho/machi name and number (usually it's something like tokyomachi 12-35), then the building number name and apt. # if applicable, then the city, then the prefecture, then the postal code.

G325A is very straightforward. Just fill out everything that applies to you and put N/A for anything that doesn't apply to you.

    Ganbare!

  5. I would try the website gaijinpot.com for starters. There's usually a good list of jobs in there. Most English teaching jobs require a bachelor degree. I did know some teachers who found jobs with high school diplomas, too. Higher paying jobs are available for certified teachers and those with master's degrees. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck searching.

  6. We received our NOA1 on December 5th (Also Cali. Serv. Cntr) so it looks like we should be getting ours anytime now. Does anyone want to reassure me on that? Also, what's this "Igor's List" that you mentioned? When I called USCIS they said there's no way for them to make an accurate estimate about how much longer it will take. Is there another number that I can call??

(I'd like to keep everyone posted by creating a timeline but I don't see where I to add one - a little help?_

  7. We're in the middle of our K1 process right now (it's been just over 4 months since I received our NOA1). I've noticed that most people get their NOA2 at around 4 months, so I called them to check on the status of our application and they said it might be another 85 days before they get to ours. Does anyone have any insight on this?

I'm hoping that they just didn't know what they were talking about, but if they're telling the truth, is there a faster way I get Mari over here than a K1 visa? Since I moved back to the states from Japan I've been back once and she came here for a short trip and for the whole summer last year, so we've seen each other a good amount but I'm still getting a little restless. Hope to hear from you soon.

  8. So We filed our K1 visa application in early Dec. 2007. From viewing this site I see that it takes most people about 4 months to receive their second Notice of Action. It's been over 4 months and we haven't received ours yet, so with my fiance on the other line I called them on my cell phone. The customer service rep. told me that it will be another 85 days until our application is processed! We were shocked.

Is there a way for her to be a legal alien if she comes here on a tourist visa and we get officially married with the state? What's that process? Please advise. We need all the help we can get because 85 more days is a lot longer than we thought we'd have to wait.

    Thanks!

  9. Still waiting on our NOA2. NOA1 date was 12/4/07. I'm thinking about giving them a call but I don't want to annoy the wrong person. Any suggestions on how to speed this up? It's been more than 4 months now and I see that most people's take 4 months exactly. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

  10. The reception is ok...not always great...I think it just depends on the day. She thinks it might have to do with the number of people online at the time. Calling a phone from skype is still pretty cheap and the reception is usually better.

  11. I just wanted to start a thread for people in my situation. Our NOA date is 12/4/2007 and are still waiting on our NOA2. It is being processed at the California office. I'm guessing that it'll be here sometime in April (about a 4 month wait) but I'm not sure. Anyone get their NOA2 yet?

Also, what exactly needs to be done once I get the NOA2? Thanks in advance for any help you give me!

  12. My NOA date is 12/4/2007 and am still not touched (I'm assuming that just means that someone in the CA NCIS office is working on it??) but from what I've seen in this forum it seems like I should expect to receive the NOA2 in early/mid April. Does that sound right?

What should my fiance do as soon as she get's her material in the mail? She's really been the one who's on top of all of this, but I just want to make sure I know what to do too.

Is there anything that I need to do here in America once I receive my NOA2 or is the rest of the work up to her? I just signed up for this forum today but am going to try to check it a few times a week so I look forward to hearing from people who are in the same boat.
