  1. Hi everyone,

Our NVC case was completed on May 15, 2009. We are now preparing for the documents needed for the CR-1 interview though we don't know the interview date yet. Here are the questions:

    1) What kind of documents do I need to bring to the interview?

    2) Do you have any tips?

Thank you in advance for those who will reply :no: We've learned a lot from this site.

    -php2

Just bring everything that would prove your marriage/ relationship such as pictures, mail delivery receipts, phone bills, emails, chat, etc. And if you don't have a CENOMAR, better get one now at NSO. Coz based on those who had their interview, some was asked to show theirs and for those who didn't have it, they were asked to come back. Mas mabuti nang handa kesa mapabalik ka pa, which would just delay in getting your visa.

  2. Guyzz THANK YOU SO MUCH, for the answering each queries, for stoping and reading all my questions.. without VJ our papers might have been lost,..

VJ helps us a lot,. Plus this site mean so much to me, it helps us to save more money, instead of hiring a lawyer, just post a question and everyone is there to give a sort of advice.. We are all good consultant on our own..lol

    THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE..

and as of now MY ViSA iS ON MY WAY

i can see the better and bright future..

my prayers is always with us..

Just hold on, keep your Faith, and be strong,

God is always good, He love us,..

Congratulations!!! I'm very happy for you guys. Wish I my guardian angel would also guide me on my interview next month. I hope and pray the CO who would interview me would be as cool as the one you had. ;) Our faith to God is strong and we are sure He knows how much my husband and I need each other. Thanks for sharing your experience for it lessens our anxiety. Good luck on your future plans and new life in the US.

  3. Well i have personaly contacted USICS about DV visa`s why not in PAKISTAN or INDIA they said bcz in those countries many ppl comes to USA and this offer is only for those countries where ppl donot comes to america allot and let me tell you one thing I M LIVING IN SAUDI ARABIAFOR 18 YEARS I KNOW ARABIAN MUCH BETTER AND MOSTLY ( EGYPTIANS ) who got married to US CITIZEN they disapeard after getting GREEN CARD or CITIZENSHIP .im sorry but its 95% TRUTH.

    Thanks

well are you going to do the same? are you one of the 95% because i can bet my life that my husband will not dissapear after he gets his greencard

WELL WELL WELL !!! that you have also some narrow thoughts U CAN NEVER JUDGE ANYONE B4 U EVEN KNOW THEM and i will be in other 5% and u cannot tell whats future and u can never say or bet that ur life will never disapear after he gets GC and let me tell u one thing plz behave dont be aggravated bcz this thing creat HUGE PROBS in HUSBAND AND WIFE and i hope bcz of your RUDE BEHAVIOUR u will not hav anyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy prb with your that you that man whose BETTED .

    THANK U !!!

oh and now you are saying my husband can run away after getting his green card through me? who is narrow minded here? isnt it you? besides why are you even thinking my husband will do that? do you know him? did i say that guy would run away when he gest his green card from his us citizen wife? i asked him, would he do that? i didnt say he would do it, i said my husband would not do it.

and yeah and fiaz and brenda, u dont have to worry that i will be aggrevated because of this, this will not cause a tiny bit of problem in my marriage. do you think my husband and i would be affected by what people say around here? im going to approach him later on and say are u just with me becaause of my greencard? what a joke to think we would get affected by this! this is too hilarious for you to even think that

Just wondering guys, aren't we all here in VJ to educate and learn? So why take someone's response/ query too personal? Taj'samericanwife, why being so defensive about your religion and husband? Nobody is perfect and none of us is God, who is the ONLY ONE who could tell/ pin point what our future will be. You think those Americans who married those people who had left them after they got their green card knew they were/are being used? Who are you to be certain about thing? It's really great that you trust your husband that much but you still can't deny the fact that anything is possible to happen whether we like the results or not. We can't hold our future on our hands, especially in marriage. This is one of the risks of being in love/ getting married and most especially to us, marrying someone from another country. But I still wish what you said about your relationship with your husband would come true. Be open minded and stay cool. We are humans who have the right to make mistakes and learn from them.

Being a member of VJ, we must consider the fact that many of us came from different countries which have different beliefs, cultures/ traditions and languages which differs us from one another. So we should give extra understanding and not take things too personal. I didn't use the word "seriously" because most of the things we write here are serious matters. So please, let's unite and help each other so we could be with our love ones instead of putting negative meaning to one's comment. And please, Muslims and Christians, let's refrain from judging people based on our religious belief for no one can tell who is right and wrong among us. Religions are only man made, not God.

REMEMBER. nothing is CERTAIN in this world except CHANGE AND DEATH.

    PS

This message is not only intended for you Taj'samercanwife, this applies to ALL VJers. So don't take it too personal, OK? I only mentioned your name coz you're the one who wrote the first accusation about Filipino women. Before your comment, it was a plain query and information.

  4. My wife recently arrived in the USA, and she says she was told it is dangerous for her to get pregnant within the first year following one (or more?) of the immuniztions she received. I have seen nothing about this. Does anyone else know about this?

    Thanks

    Brian in Tennessee

What kind of vaccines did she get and from whom did she get that advice? Coz I just had my immunization yesterday at SLEC for MMS and Tdap, all the doctor told me was that I should not get pregnant within two months. That's all they told me.... oh, plus the follow up shot of Tdap when I get to US.

  5. I am conducting a little survey here  . This is only for people who had their medical exam done on the Month of May 2009.

Please take a moment and post how much you paid...Thank you..Thanks...

I agree with Jov Mar, better ask your fiance nicely on what else she paid with that amount. Coz I went to SLEC yesterday, May 6, and the fee was just PHP10,420.

  6. Question: I'm confused. Why would she need a CENOMAR? Isn't that the Certificate of No Marriage? How do you get that if you're already married?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I asked the same question before but accdg to those who had their interview, the embassy asked for it during the interview. And for those who didn't get one, they were asked to come back (re-sched) and present it. So for me, I rather have that on hand in case they ask for it, than to be re-sched, which would just delay my time in being with my hubby.

You are right, CENOMAR is a certificate of no marriage but in our case, it will serve as CENMAR (Certificate of Marriage). Just apply at NSO for a CENOMAR and they will list there to whom you are married and your previous marriages, if applicable.

  7. i got my email today from the NVC, interview date june 10, 2009...Is it ok to have medical 1 month before the interview?

No need to call St. Lukes. I had my medical last Jan using my K3 visa but since my CR-1 has also been approved, we decided to use it instead where I got an interview date next month, Jun 15 and my medical is still valid! :D

  8. I just spoke to my attorney about the filing status I should for my 2008. He told me to file as single since my wife is in Pakistan, and in order to file married I would need her SS#. So, I guess it's ok to file as single for those people whose husband/wife is abroad. Can anyone share their opinion? Thanks.

I totally agree with SerenityHope because that's what my husband did even though our attorney also disapproved on filing as married since I'm here in the Philippines. But as I consulted our family lawyer here and the pair of legal (FYI, we just met this nice lady) who handled my husband tax return, they both told us there's nothing wrong in what we did, filing as married, it is totally legal. They said it doesn't matter where your spouse is, what matter most is that you are LEGALLY MARRIED.

  9. Hi. Im just waiting for my interview....and im just wondering what to bring regarding proof of relationship. Do I need to ask my husband to send all the letters that i sent him? Or they only need my husband letter that he sent to me? thanks!

Aside from the letters (he sent you), you should also bring phone bills (if you talk on the phone), pictures of you together, remittances receipts (as proof of support), copies of your BC and MC and also your CENOMAR. If you don't have the CENOMAR yet, better get one now while waiting for your interview since it would take at least two weeks to get that.

  10. Hi s.o.n.n.y.09.

I just read your query on how to confirm if your case has been received by the US Embassy. I was about to reply but decided to continue reading until the end, there I found out you already got a letter from NVC with your appointment date. Guess what, seems we have the same interview date!!! :) What time is your interview? Mine is early morning around 6am, which I'm pretty sure I won't be able to sleep the night before. Well I wish us good luck and let's pray that the consulate who would be assigned to us won't give us a hard time during the interview.;)

  11. Thanks alot guys for the ideas and congratulations for passing the interview!!!!:D I wish you the best of luck in starting your new future with your lifetime partner. ;) JoenKate, does that mean it will be quicker if I have my visa picked up at the embassy instead of having it delivered? Would they give me a choice or do I have to tell them I want it to be picked up? Coz I could do that since I'm living in Manila.

  12. Kabayan, could anyone please tell me how many days did it take to have your visa on hand after your interview? I know my interview date is still way ahead but my husband and I are trying to book a flight a.s.a.p due to the fact that it will be summer there by the time I have my interview and my hubby needs to know when will I be there because he will be assigned to a different state on summer. So with your feedbacks, we could estimate the earliest date I could fly there and he could arrange his work schedule. Thank you for your kindness. Good luck to all!!!

  13. Hi Guys,

I just called NVC a while ago to check our case status and they said they have reviewed it but something else was lacking. According to them, they have sent the "checklist" last Feb. 12 which we haven't seen. Is that because we hired a lawyer and NVC is sending the mail/ emails to him instead? Is it possible to get copies directly from NVC of ALL the notices they are sending our lawyer regarding our case? Coz it seems our lawyer is stalling our case because we are not his priority. What should we do? WE need advice, please help us.

you can ask NVC what document they need and you can send it back to them without using a lawyer. I think this is a RFE and VJ people can help you once you tell them which documents NVC need. or NVC can help you how to send it back to them.

You know what, thats exactly what entered my mind. But when I tried to call NVC today, there was no available agent to talk to me so they told me to call later. In doing so, would our case number be enough as reference for them to give me the requirements they are asking?

  14. My husband and i didnt use a lawyer, and i am so sorry that you are having so much trouble. I think people should do away with using lawyers unless they have very complicated cases, the paperwork really isnt that hard, and with the help of forums, you can definately do it the same way if not better yourself. As for having NVC send you copies, im not sure, but i doubt it. Its your responsiblity to get the originals, or have a responcible lawyer who will get them to you or take care of them, that is what you are paying him for. No offense, just trying to be realistic, NVC has a lot of cases to process, so it probably isnt particularly worried about sending copies to 1 person because their lawyer isnt doing a good job. Sorry i couldnt be of more help. I would say ditch the lawyer if you can. or maybe sign up for email notifications. Thats what my husband and i did, and we didnt have any problems with that, unless your lawyer already took that option too.

Wish we could ditch him right this moment but we signed a contract until I get my immigrant status. With regards to email notification, I've done that on USCIS but not with NVC yet. How can I get a notification in NVC?

  15. Hi Guys,

  16. No offense to anyone here but I am getting really confused. Could anyone please concretely tell me if a CENOMAR (certificate of NO marriage) is absolutely needed for an interview in the Manila embassy. I see a lot of round and round talk some say yes some say no. I have not seen anything on the embassy website saying it is needed for the interview. I don't want any delays. We have been married for almost 2 years now and want to be sure she will have all she needs for the interview.

    Joe

I agree with club, Joe. You said it yourself, you don't want any delays on your wife's case then you should ask your wife to get a CENOMAR before her interview. It is better to have ALL documents on hand and be ready for what the embassy might ask you to provide, than to be asked to come back on a certain date which would definitely cause delay on your case. Well that is what I plan to do on my part so my husband and I could finally be together.

  17. The CENMAR will be needed at the interview not at NVC stage. I didn't hire a lawyer so, I can't really comment on that. I just did a lot of reading especially here on VJ and with God's help and guidance, we were able to complete our case at USCIS and NVC without delays. Wish you'll have a speedy process, too!!! godbless!

Thanks for the NVC phone number, we will call them later. Are you 100% sure I don't need to send my CENMAR to NVC? I'm sorry but I just want to make sure not to leave any important document behind for our case to be completed in NVC.

I'm 100% sure that CENOMAR will be needed at interview. My friend who had his interview Feb.25 is already married, didn't have the Marriage Index at interview...this caused him delays because the US embassy will not process his Visa until he submits the certificate I mentioned.

Thanks Club for the assurance. So I just need to get one copy of CENOMAR and multiple copies of my birth and marriage certificates for future use. I appreciate your help a lot. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!!!

  19. you need to submit originals 1 set and photo copies 1 set to NVC. also it is suggested that you take a photocopy set of everything to the interview (for CR-1) just in case something gets lost by NVC.

And yes club you need to obtain a CENMAR from NSO. We went to the one here in Iligan and got it the next day after we applied.

You also didn't send your CENOMAR to NVC??? So you'll just bring it on your interview. Seems its nicer to get CENOMAR there in Iligan coz it would only take a day to get one. Here in Manila, it would take a week or so!!!
